Chapter 114 Not What You Think
The beat of the drums was so loud, Andrea could practically feel it inside of her body. She and Kelsey were sitting at the club, sipping beers, dressed like a couple of dudes who were minding their own business but keeping an eye on Travis and Andre Sparkles. He had no idea he wasn’t talking to her, and it was awesome from Andrea’s perspective.
So far, Travis had been a perfect gentleman, keeping his hands to himself, unlike the night Andrea had met up with him at the club and there’d been so much grinding and dirty dancing. She had a feeling this polite Travis would disappear the more liquid he got inside of him, though.
As far as she could tell, Andromeda was a no-show. She wanted to go talk to Kevin—aka Andre—and see what the scoop was, but she could hardly do that without taking the chance on Travis recognizing her. She smoothed the mustache on her upper lip and took another swig of beer. A fruity drink would’ve hit the spot, but a dude drinking something with an umbrella in it might look a little suspicious, and she was trying to blend in.
“Stop stroking your ‘stache,” Kelsey whispered. “You’re going to loosen it.”
“I’m sorry.” Andrea put her hands underneath the table, hoping that would help her to fight the urge. “He really thinks that’s me.”
“He does. Andre’s wearing flats, and you usually wear heels, so you’re about the same height.”
“His biceps are so much more muscular than mine, though,” she whispered, realizing she might have had too much beer herself. The blond wig she was wearing made her head itch, and her boyfriend jeans kept sliding down in the waist. She liked her dresses and skirts far more than she enjoyed wearing this get up. But… if Travis stopped hitting on her after this, it would all be worth it.
“Oooh, here we go,” Kelsey said, gesturing with the crown of her head in the couple’s direction. “Travis has his hands on Andre’s hips now.”
Kelsey looked more like a guy than Andrea did. She was wearing a dark wig with a fauxhawk and a full beard. Her posture even looked like a guy, the way she slumped on the table, the way she picked up her beer with a swagger that said beer was the best and “he” was just here for a good time. Andrea was an actress. She should be able to mimic a dude.
It was true, Travis was starting to make his move. Andre was loving it, leaning into him, smiling at Travis, swaying back and forth. It was almost too much for her to handle. Holding in her laughter was getting to be way too hard.
Andre whispered something in Travis’s ear and then headed toward the hall where the bathrooms were. “Okay, I’m going to go talk to him,” Andrea said, getting up.
“What? What if Travis sees you?”
“He won’t.” She shrugged Kelsey off and tried to walk like a man as she headed toward the restrooms.
She saw Andre step into the restroom and followed behind. A few girls screeched, and she realized it was because she looked like a guy. She pulled her mustache off. “Sorry. I’m a woman.” They didn’t need to know that Andre wasn’t one. He turned around and giggled. “Girl, give me a moment.” He disappeared in the stall and then came out. “Okay, that man is so into you.”
“Oh, wow, I’m in the bathroom with Andrea Sparks!” a woman said.
Andre winked but didn’t say more, and the girl left her alone, which was one of the reasons Andrea liked this club. People usually left her alone. “What are you going to do?”
“Go home with him, of course,” Andre said with a shrug.
Andrea hid a smile. “Are you serious? You will let him know you’re not me before the night is over, though? Right?”
“Of course, honey. I won’t let him get far. Don’t worry. He might be madder than a hornet. Or he might be into it. Who knows? I met my last two boyfriends wearing this outfit.” Andre winked at Andrea and then headed out the bathroom door.
Andrea went over to the mirror and put her mustache back on, making sure she still looked like a dude. A woman walked out of the stall and looked at her in the mirror before saying, “You do you, sugar!” Smiling, Andrea gave her five and then headed back out to the dance floor.
By the time she got there, Andre was leading Travis out the door, and Kelsey was trying to get a group of girls to leave their table. Laughing, Andrea went over to rescue her. “Are you ready to go home?”
“Yes, please,” Kelsey hopped up, and the girls headed for the door. Andrea wished she could follow Andre back to Travis’s house, but she’d just have to wait to see what the actor had to say the next day on set. She started giggling just thinking about it. Served him right for hitting on her when he knew she was taken. Maybe this time, he’d learn his lesson!
