Chapter 208 Planning a Wedding
“My mom wants a Christmas wedding,” Andrea said, sitting across from Case in a café in New York City. She was getting ready to start filming her new movie in a few days, and since Case had a few days before he had to head to his next race, they decided to spend their time hashing out the details of the wedding and making some decisions.
“But Christmas is only a few months away,” Case reminded her, taking a sip of his latte.
“I know. That’s why I think we should either aim for a spring wedding or wait until next Christmas. Can you wait that long?”
“I can wait as long as I need to,” Case said with a shrug. “But it doesn’t really matter to me, as long as you’re happy.”
“I feel like an early December wedding is a better choice. You finish racing in the beginning of November. If we took a few weeks between when you get done and the wedding, that would give you a chance to relax a bit and then help out with any last minute items that need to be accomplished.”
“I assume you mean next December, though? Not this one?”
“I just feel like it will be too rushed if we get married this December, don’t you think? I want to make sure we have time to plan everything. I’ll be filming for the next eight weeks or so, and you have The Chase to think about.”
Case nodded. “I agree. It would make more sense to wait a year. It’s not as if it changes anything between us,” he said with a shrug. “I still think of you as my wife in every way.”
Andrea smiled. It really touched her heart to hear him say that. “Okay then. Let’s look at the calendar and pick a date in December of next year.”
They pulled out their phones and decided on December 10. “Now, where are we getting married?” Case asked.
Andrea dropped her head onto the table. “This is so hard!”
Case laughed at her. “This is only the second decision you’ve had to make.”
“That’s not true! I had to decide to say yes in the first place!”
“True. That was the hardest decision of all.” Case winked at her. “Do you want to get married in LA, or do you want the snow and all of that?”
“I know my mom wants the snowy Christmas wedding.”
“Okay—but what do you want?”
Andrea honestly wasn’t sure. There were good points to both settings. While she wouldn’t have to worry so much about the weather in LA, most of the magic of getting married at Christmas revolved around the scenic snow. “I think I want to get married in Elkhart,” she said. Saying it out loud made it more real, and she was confident in her decision.
“Great. What sort of venue do you want? Will you invite a lot of people? I’m personally fine with just close friends and family, but we’ll do whatever you want.”
“I think I want just close friends and family at the wedding, but we can have a bigger reception.”
Case smiled at her, likely glad to hear her making decisions. “And where do you want to get married, beautiful?”
Andrea thought about the church she’d attended growing up. It had been built onto in the last few years, but the old chapel was still there. It was small and quaint. There would be enough room for about a hundred people, though, which would certainly cover all their close friends and family. “I want to get married at the church my mom attends, First Christian.”
“And what about the reception?” he asked.
“Yeah, that’s a good question. I think I’ll need Mom’s help with that. We’ll have to check venues in the area and see what’s available that’s big enough. We’ll probably have three or four hundred people at the reception, don’t you think?”
“I do.” Case took a sip of his drink, and Andrea made a note in the notebook she’d started for wedding planning that they’d need to find a reception site. “Have you talked to Lanshia about the dress?”
“No, I wanted a date first, but it’s on my list. I have an idea of what sort of dress I want.” She had been spending some time looking at wedding dresses, and her mother had sent her at least a hundred pictures in the last few weeks.
There were so many decisions to make, but Andrea was glad to have a chance to concentrate on wedding planning for a while and nothing else. She and Case hashed out colors, wedding party, who they’d ask to perform the ceremony, and the caterer. Of course, she’d ask Leslie to sing. She and Charlie had not gotten back together, but they both seemed happy and were trying to stay friends.
Looking down at her list of items, Andrea saw that she had a lot to do, but it was good to have decisions made and a clear path to having the wedding of her dreams to the man of her dreams.
