Chapter 76 A Video's Worth a Thousand Words
Sarah had dared Andrea saying, “Watch me,” get away with making it look like Andrea was kissing Travis.
“I’ll watch you,” Kelsey said to Sarah, stepping out of the shadows, her phone in her hand. “I’ll listen to you, too.”
“What’s going on?” Sarah asked, confused. “How long have you been hiding?”
“Long enough,” Kelsey said with a shrug. “Long enough to hear you and Travis talking about setting it up so that it looked like Andrea was cheating on Case with him.”
Sarah snorted. “So? You’re going to tell everyone that you heard one thing while I’ve got photographic proof of something else.”
“Actually….” Kelsey pressed a few buttons on her phone, and everyone leaned in to listen.
Sarah’s voice could be heard over Kelsey’s device as she whispered, “All you have to do is get her alone. I’ll take care of the rest.”
“Are you sure?” Travis asked on the recording, hesitantly. “What if it doesn’t work?”
“It’ll work. It’s time I got even with this b*tch once and for all.”
“But I thought you had a new boyfriend, one you really liked. Are you still in love with Case?”
“D*mn it, Travis! Just listen to me! I do have a new boyfriend—a racecar driver boyfriend! He’ll be at all of the races, just like Case—you idiot! Just do what I said, and when little miss movie star is all broken hearted over losing her man, she’ll turn to you for a shoulder to cry on.”
“Fine, Sarah. I’ll do it. I’ll get her over here so you can trip her and make it look like she’s kissing me. But I don’t like this. Andrea’s nice, and I hate going behind her back.”
“Well, if you ever want to get her to like you, this is the only way.”
“I know…. I know….”
Kelsey hit stop on her phone. Sarah was left fuming, but her chin was raised. “You can’t prove that was me.”
“Travis said your name, and it’s your voice.”
“So what? I could have been an impersonator.”
“Okay… so how about this?” Kelsey flipped a few more items on her phone and then turned it around to show Sarah.
Andrea had to take a few steps forward to see what it was, but she held back a smile when she realized what else Kelsey had. It was a clear picture of Sarah taking Andrea’s picture as a hand came out from between the clothing racks and tripped her and she stumbled into Travis’s arms. Anyone looking at that picture would know the whole thing was staged.
“You stupid b*tch!” Sarah screamed and flung herself at Kelsey.
The phone went flying in the air. Andrea dove to try and catch it before it shattered on the concrete floor—but she didn’t get there in time! The phone smashed, and Kelsey went flying backward, too.
“Hey, what’s going on!” Cam shouted, running over to see Sarah on top of Kelsey, her hands around the assistant’s throat.
By then, Travis had snapped out of his daze and was pulling on Sarah, trying to get her off, and Andrea came around to the other side, shouting at her to let Kelsey go.
“Sarah!” Cam yelled as Travis hauled the actress to her feet. “We’ve talked about this! You can’t be acting like that on my set!”
“That stupid b*tch was making sh*t up about me!” Sarah shouted. She glanced over her shoulder to see Kelsey’s phone was smashed on the ground. “She said she had incriminating pictures and audio of me. I guess the world will never know now.”
Andrea helped Kelsey up, and her assistant’s hands went to her own neck where Sarah’s fingermarks were evident. It was red and sore. Still, Kelsey said, “I had already uploaded them to the cloud, Sarah. Everything I showed you is still accessible.”
Once again, Sarah launched herself at Kelsey, screaming obscenities. Cam grabbed her this time. “Calm down! Now! Or you’re off this movie!”
Sarah took a deep breath and folded her arms, turning away.
Then, Cam turned to Andrea and Kelsey. “Are you all right?”
“I’m fine,” Kelsey said.
“I’m sorry, Cam, but Sarah was trying to make it look like I was kissing Travis in order to cause my boyfriend to break up with me. Kelsey was just trying to protect my reputation.”
He nodded. “Sarah, I need to talk to you in private, right away.”
Glaring at Andrea, Sarah huffed off, her eyes saying she’d kill Andrea and Kelsey both if she had the chance.
Travis looked pained. “I’m so sorry, Andrea. I should never have gone along with that.”
“No, you shouldn’t have,” she agreed. “Leave me alone, Travis. We can act together, but we’re no longer friends.” She picked the broken phone up off the ground and turned around and walked away, her arm around Kelsey’s shoulders. Thank God for good friends.
