Chapter 72 Sarah's New Man
Andrea was in no mood. Sarah was on set, though she was late and didn’t get there until Andrea was already done with wardrobe and makeup. That wasn’t a bad thing—it gave her half-sister less of a chance to sabotage her again. But the fact that she wouldn’t stop talking about her new boyfriend was driving Andrea insane.
Especially since he happened to be a NASCAR driver.
“We met last weekend while I was in Jamaica filming a scene for my new movie—my other new movie. He’s just so handsome. We’ve been chatting all week. Now, I’m going to have to change my schedule so I can go see him race. He’s such a good driver. I’m sure he’ll win all of the big races.”
“That’s lovely,” Stephon said. Andrea could tell by the makeup artist’s tone that he really didn’t want to hear about Sarah's boyfriend.
“His team is the best in all of racing. They always win. They won the championship last year.”
She continued to talk until Andrea couldn’t take it anymore and had to walk further away. Cam was on the other side of the set, getting everything ready for the next scene. She heard him talking to Travis, whose face was finally healed. “When you kiss her, you’ve got to make it look real, but it doesn’t have to be real.”
“Andrea doesn’t mind,” Travis was saying. His back was to her, and he probably didn’t know she could hear him. “I think she likes it.”
“But that doesn’t come across as realistic,” Cam was explaining. “If it’s real, it looks sloppy. Surely, you’ve had training in this, haven’t you?”
“Sure, sure. I’ve had plenty of chances to practice kissing, Cam. I just thought… since Andrea and I have such amazing chemistry, it would be better if I really kissed her.”
“And I appreciate that, but I’m telling you, it’s not translating. Less tongue, man. That’s all I can say. Got it?”
Andrea cringed a little bit that Cam was having to get so specific, but she appreciated it. Travis really did need to stop pretending her mouth was the ocean, and he was a scuba diver.
She made a bit of noise walking over so as to get their attention, and both of them turned around. “Ah, Andrea. Hi. Glad you’re here. Are you ready to film your scene with Travis from last week that we had to reschedule?”
“I’m ready,” she said with a smile.
“Very good then. We’ll be ready in just a moment.” He clapped Travis on the back and went about getting the crew in place.
“Hey,” Travis said, looking a bit sheepish. “Did you hear any of that?”
“Any of what?” Andrea didn’t see the point in embarrassing him.
“Nothing. Never mind. So… how’s Case?”
“Great,” she said, not wanting to tell him that he’d actually left that day.
Travis must’ve remembered that he had to go soon because he asked, “How much longer will he be in town?”
“Uh… he has to go soon.”
“That’s too bad. But hey, I hear Sarah, your sister, is dating a racer now. So… more family time.”
“Are you just trying to annoy me?” she asked.
Travis laughed hysterically. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t help it. Man, she will stop at nothing to get your man.”
“What are you talking about?” Andrea folded her arms.
“Come on. Clearly, she’s just dating Gordo to try to get to Case again. I doubt she really likes him. He’s a lot older than her.”
“I don’t think he’s that much older than her.”
“At least eight years. And… he’s not all that good looking.”
“He’s not bad looking….”
“I guess. If you don’t mind the graying hair and a few wrinkles.”
Andrea shrugged. “Someday, that will be you, Travis.”
“No way. I’m never getting wrinkles. I’ll pay the best doctor in the world to make sure that I never have a one. And I have the best hair stylist in all of Hollywood.”
“Good for you.” Andrea found a fake smile that looked real enough. She’d had no idea how vain he was, but he was starting to remind her of her ex-boyfriend, Leo. “Will you excuse me a moment, Travis? I need to mentally prepare for my role.”
“Sure thing,” he said with a goofy grin she didn’t quite understand, unless he was thinking about the fact that he’d get to kiss her soon. Andrea tried not to roll her eyes as she stepped away.
She should’ve been thinking about Case, about how magical the night before had been. He’d made her feel like a woman in every way possible. And then he’d made her breakfast, which was so sweet. It broke her heart that she wouldn’t see him when she got home.
Case was a one in a million man. She knew she’d never find another guy like him, no matter how hard she tried. She felt so blessed that he was her boyfriend, that he loved her, and that they would be together again soon. Travis’s suggestion that Sarah was just dating Gordon Jones because she was after Case concerned her. Andrea had already considered that might be the case. But Sarah was wasting her time. Andrea knew there was nothing the other actress could do to win Case back, especially not now that he’d declared his love for Andrea.
They’d be together for ever. She felt it in her heart. And if Travis’s amorous glances needed some straightening out, she’d be happy to set him straight, too.
