Chapter 147 Ex Marks the Start
Wilma’s schedule was different than Cam’s and it worried Andrea because she was afraid she might not get out of there on time Friday night. They’d filmed way past the originally scheduled cut-off time the night before, and when Andrea finally got home, all she wanted to do was take a shower and go to bed. She’d only spoken to Case for a few minutes.
The next morning, she dragged herself into the studio and practically fell asleep in the makeup chair, and that was only day two. If Wilma didn’t let her have the weekend off, Andrea was going to have to throw a diva fit of some sort. She knew that wasn’t true, that she would never do that, but she wasn’t happy.
“Girl, you look awful—for you!” Stephon said as he started applying her makeup.
“Uh, thank you?” Andrea questioned, not sure what she was supposed to say. “We were here so late last night.”
“I heard. I went home, left my assistant.”
“I know that, too,” Andrea replied, remembering she’d been surprised when it had been Marva who had come to touch up her makeup between shoots. Usually, Stephon touched up the stars’ makeup himself.
“It’ll be all right, girlfriend. The filming of this movie has got to be over soon.”
“I sure hope so.”
“Did you ever hear what Cam was charged with?” Stephon asked, his voice low.
“Nope. Just that he made bail and is at home. That’s all I know.”
“Hmmm. I wonder what it might’ve been.”
“Don’t know, and as long it doesn’t have anything to do with me, I don’t care. I don’t wish any ill-will on Cam, but he wasn’t quite the person I thought he was either.”
“All true,” Stephon said with a nod.
If he said anything else, Andrea didn’t hear it. The sound of familiar laughter had her blood running cold as she tried to breathe and not hyperventilate. “Is that who I think it is?” she asked, leaning forward in her chair, disregarding the makeup brush Stephon had poised in front of her face.
Sure enough, the man she least wanted to see in the whole world was coming across the sound stage floor, his phone in his hand as if everyone else needed to hear his half of the conversation.
“No!” Andrea growled, sliding back into the chair and raising her head so that she was looking at the ceiling.
“Will you please hold still? I’m trying to do your makeup, and I’d like to put it on your face!”
“Sorry,” Andrea muttered. “But do you see who that is? Do you see who Wilma has brought into the cast? If she wanted this movie to be a catastrophe, she’s gone and done it now!”
“Holy hell,” Stephon muttered, finally realizing who they were looking at. “That’s Leo Esposito.”
“I know!”
“Your ex-boyfriend!”
“I know!”
“Dang, Andrea, what in the world are you going to do? Your break up with him was one of the ugliest in Hollywood history, and that’s saying something.”
“Well, I don’t know about that,” Andrea said. It wasn’t quite as bad as he was making it out to be, but it was awful.
Leo caught sight of her, stopped for a second, rolled his eyes, and then promptly headed to the other side of the studio, which was just as well. Andrea didn’t want to have anything to do with the man at all.
He was headed straight for Sarah, though, and she squealed and jumped up to hug him. “That figures,” Andrea replied. “They once ganged up on social media to bad mouth me, so it figures they’d be friends.”
“Try not to let them get you down, girl,” Stephon suggested. “This movie will be over soon enough, and he’s only got a few scenes anyway. It’ll be fine.”
“You think so?” she asked.
“I know so. Really, you’ve managed to survive with Sarah. You can make it through Leo, too. You’re a survivor. It’ll be fine.”
Andrea nodded, hoping he was right, but something told her things on set were about to get even worse, and she had the awful feeling Wilma was going to blame her for all of it.
