Chapter 65 Blast From the Past

“What the hell happened to your face?” Cam was screaming from the other side of the set. Andrea was in the makeup chair, but she didn’t think they’d be able to shoot the scene they were planning on shooting that day, not with Travis’s face all jacked up.

“That boy looks like he got the bum end of the ugly stick shook in his face,” Stephon said, shaking his head.

“Yes, yes he does. But something tells me he deserves it.” She tried not to giggle, but the makeup artist new her well.

“You were there, weren’t you? Did your boy do that to him?”

“No, it wasn’t Case. But it might’ve been a friend of his…. And a lot of other people. It was a huge brawl, Steph.”

“Oh, I heard. I had a few friends there. They said it was the biggest fight in the history of the club. You just don’t see stuff like that in civilized clubs these days.”

“You don’t?”

“Hell, no. You brought your backwoods NASCAR drivers in there, and that’s when it all went to hell.”

“I’m going to assume you’re joking.” She narrowed her eyes at him.

“Sugar, you know I’m just messin’ around. That Case Meyer has a nice a*s. I’d never call him backwoods—unless he liked it.” Stephon winked at her.

Andrea giggled. “You are talking about my boyfriend, you know that, right?”

Stephon sighed. “Yes, I know—and so do you. If anyone knows how nice his backside is, I guess it’s you.”

Still wearing her smile, Andrea neither confirmed or denied his suspicion. The truth of the matter is she and Case hadn’t done anything more than kiss. While she hated that they hadn’t taken their relationship to the next level yet, it was difficult with his mom still staying at the apartment and Charlie at hers. But he was leaving in just a few hours. She’d already called to tell him goodbye. She’d see him soon, though, in Daytona.

Cam came over, hands on his hips, irritated. “Change of plans.”

“You don’t say?” Stephon asked. “I am a miracle worker with the makeup brush but even I can’t hide stupid.”

Ignoring the comment, Cam continued, speaking to Andrea, “I’ve got a call in to Sarah to see if we can go ahead and shoot that other scene with her this afternoon. It will depend on her schedule at her other movie. Also, Lance is ready to shoot his scene with you, so we’re staging it right now. Will this makeup work for that scene?”

That last part was directed at Stephen. “Yes, Andrea’s face is ready!”

“Perfect. I’m glad someone’s face is ready. Is it true your boyfriend started this whole fight?”

“No, Travis started it. Case didn’t even throw a punch,” Andrea said defensively.

“Still, everywhere that guy goes, trouble follows. When does he go back to wherever he came from?”

“In a couple of days.” Andrea wanted to lash out but didn’t.

“Good. Maybe all of this trouble will go with him.” Cam turned around and walked away.

“The man just put a call in to Sarah Lockton and he thinks trouble’s leaving with Case? Honey, I don’t think so.”

“I know, right?” Andrea agreed. I guess I better go get dressed before she has a chance to mess with my costume. Andrea thanked Stephon for his good work and went off to find Naveah to switch to her costume for the other scene. Something told her with Sarah coming in, the day’s troubles weren’t over.

The costume designer wasn’t happy she’d have to switch Andrea’s outfit out, but she did it anyway. The actress was just heading back toward set when she saw a man she didn’t know who seemed lost wandering around. He had his back to her. “Excuse me, can I help you?” she called, wondering why no one else had bothered.

He turned around, and Andrea immediately felt like she’d seen him somewhere before, but she couldn’t quite place it.

“Uh, high. I was just looking for my daughter—Sarah Lockton.”

“Oh, she’s not here yet. She should be soon, I think, though.” Andrea actually didn’t know if Sarah was going to be able to come in.

“I see. She said she was on her way over here from her other set. When I spoke to her, my plane had just landed, so she said to just meet her here.”

“You’re from out of town?”

“San Francisco,” he replied. “You look familiar. I guess I’ve seen you in other movies?”

“Yeah, I’m Andrea Sparks.” She offered her hand.

He took it. “Alan Locke.”

All of the blood rushed out of Andrea’s face. “Wait—what? Your name’s Alan?”

“Yes. Is… everything okay?” He looked concerned, stepping forward.

Andrea took a step back. “Oh, my God. Stephen was right! You’re… you’re him!” The world seemed to swirl around her, and Andrea felt like she was going to pass out. She felt arms around her from the back and Stephon’s familiar voice calling for the nurse as the world went black.
