Chapter 64 Lime Light Fight

Lime Light was packed for a weeknight, and Andrea was determined not to let herself drink too much or stay out too late again. The only reason she was even there on a night when she had to be back in the studio early the next morning was because Charlie wanted to see it so bad, and he had to go back to North Carolina the next day.

The club was hopping, the DJ playing a remix of a popular Beyoncé song, and the dance floor was packed full of young, cool, rich people drinking and mingling. Case looked completely out of his element.

“Are you sure you want to stay here?” Andrea asked, standing next to him at a table where his beer was sitting and her fruity cocktail was mostly gone. She really needed to be careful.

“Sure. Look at Charlie. He’s having a great time.”

Andrea turned her attention to the dance floor where their friend was dancing with several young ladies. His wild hair was flying, dripping sweat as he gyrated his hips and swung his arms around wildly. He was keeping time to the beat, though, and the California girls seemed enamored with the out-of-towner.

Laughing, Andrea said, “You sound like a proud parent.”

“This is what he wanted. After having to put up with my mom moving in for the last couple of days, he deserves whatever he wants.”

“Well, I think it’s time we joined him. You’re not planning on standing here all night, are you?”

Case took a long pull off his beer bottle. “All right. Let’s get to it.”

He took her hand and led her out to the dance floor, and Andrea was impressed with how well he could move, too. He didn’t do any of the grinding or bumping a lot of the other guys were doing, but that was okay with her.

Charlie called to them from his circle of friends, and they waved at him, Case giving him a thumbs up signal that he approved of his ability to attract the ladies.

The evening was full of dancing and drinking—maybe a little bit too much at one point. Charlie danced with them a bit, but mostly he was a few feet away with a ton of ladies all over him. Andrea wondered if he’d still be interested in her sister after all of this.

“I’ve gotta hit the head,” Case whispered in her ear.

“Okay. I’ll just be here.”

He looked reluctant to leave her, but some of the girls dancing near her were acquaintances from the film industry. Andrea knew she’d be fine.

Case was gone less than a five minutes when Andrea felt a tug on the back of her arm and a familiar voice said, “Fancy meeting you here.”

“Travis!” She smiled when she saw him, but she was also a little leery. He’d been drinking; she’d been drinking. They’d done this dance before. “Hi. You can meet Case. He’s in the bathroom.”

“I don’t see him anywhere,” Travis replied, looking around.

“I said he’s in the bathroom!” Andrea shouted, leaning into his ear.

Travis started to move his hips, grinding against her. “I heard you. I still don’t see him.”

“Travis, stop, I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Oh, come on, Andrea. It’ll be fun. It was fun the other night.”

“But my boyfriend….”

“Wasn’t here then? He’s not here now.”

“We were sort of… on a break the other night. No, really, Travis, let go of me.”

“Andrea! Don’t be so stiff. Loosen up.”

“What’s going on?”

It wasn’t Case’s voice behind her. It was Charlie’s.

“Nothing me and the lady are just dancing.” Travis stopped and raised up to his full height. He still wasn’t as tall as Charlie, though.

“I think she said no.”

“I think you should stay out of it.”

“Travis!” Andrea said, wedging her way between them. “Stop. Charlie’s my friend.”

“This is your boyfriend?” Travis snarled.

“No, this is her boyfriend.” Case was behind her now. “If she said leave her alone, you better do it, if you know what’s good for you.”

Snickering, Travis said, “Or what?”

Andrea pushed Travis back, hard. “Knock it off, Travis! You and I are just costars, and you know it.”

“Yeah, well it sure the hell seems like more than that on set.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Case asked, narrowing the distance between them.

“It means… I think she likes it when I give her tongue!”

Case was mad now. He called Travis a few choice words. Travis’s hand balled into a fist, and he swung just as Case stepped aside.

Travis’s punch didn’t hit Case—it hit Charlie, right in the jaw. And now, the big man was pissed. “What the hell?”

“Oh, no,” Travis mumbled, wide eyed.

“Charlie—don’t!” Andrea begged, but it was too late. Charlie pummeled Travis right in his million dollar kisser, knocking him to the ground, blood spewing everywhere. Travis managed to get up, though, but the man he’d stumbled into was also mad now, as were the people who’d gotten sprayed with blood.

As the fight broke out all around them, Andrea grabbed Case by the arm. “Let’s go!”

“Where’s Charlie?” Case wanted to know.

“Right in the middle of it.” Ducking a bar stool that seemed to come out of nowhere, Andrea looped her arm through Charlie’s as he went to throw another punch. “Let’s go!”

“But….”

“Charlie!”

“All right.” He was able to disentangle himself from the fight, and the three of them stayed low and worked their way out of the club.

Outside, the air was a lot crisper than it was in the stuffy club. Andrea pulled her phone out of a pocket in her skirt and summoned an Uber as the noise in the club ramped up again. Other people began to pour out the door, and security started grabbing people by the collars and escorting them out. Their car arrived and the three of them got in as Travis, bloodied and black and blue, came out the door, a bouncer giving him a swift push. He was shouting, “Don’t you know who I am?”

“Cam’s gonna be pissed,” Andrea said, thinking about Travis’s face.

“That’s what happens when you mess with my girl,” Case said with a shrug.

“You didn’t even throw a punch!” Charlie’s jaw was a little swollen, but other than that, he was fine.

“Hey, I didn’t have to. But I brought you, didn’t I?” Case said with a twinkle in his eye.

“Hope you liked Lime Light, Charlie, because I don’t think you’ll be invited back.” Andrea smirked at him, shaking her head. It was definitely a night none of them would forget.
