Chapter 97 Race Track Life

The drivers all parked in the same section of the RV parking at Daytona Motor Speedway. Andrea had seen this place on TV lots of times, but she’d never been there. It was different in real life than on TV. Rows and rows of motorhomes lined the space. All of them were high-end vehicles, some of them worth millions of dollars. Case’s was definitely one of the nicer ones, and when Andrea walked in, it was hard to believe she was inside what was essentially a trailer.

“Wow—this place is so nice,” she said as he took her bag to the back where the bedroom was. She was standing in what looked like a narrow, but comfortable, living room. A leather sofa lined one wall with ample access to view a giant TV that was mounted to a cabinet by the doorway that led to the cab. It was carpeted and decorated in earth tones, with a kitchen area, a bathroom, and when she walked into the bedroom, she was shocked to see the bed was at least a queen size. There was plenty of closet space and even some drawers.

“You like it?” Case asked, coming back to her after depositing her bag next to the bed.

“I love it. I can see why you refer to this as your home away from home.” He leaned down and kissed her, and the plans they’d made on their way back from the airport to get dinner and go for a walk on the beach were suddenly postponed.

Being with Case was as natural as breathing to Andrea. He knew how to make her pulse race and send her head soaring through the clouds while her body ignited with a flame only he could extinguish. He would, too, but he took his time, slowly spreading the fire through every inch of her, wrapping her in his arms and fanning the flames with every kiss, every caress, every touch until Andrea lost herself completely.

When they were finished, she rested her head on his chiseled chest and ran her fingers through the fine hair, down to his abdomen. “I love you, Case. I’ve missed your touch.”

“I love you, too, beautiful. I’m so glad you’re here.” He kissed the top of her head and continued to gently stroke her arm. “Are you ready to go get something to eat? I think we must’ve worked up an appetite.”

As much as she wanted to continue to lay there in his arms, she was starving. “Yes, let’s go,” Andrea said, sitting up to kiss him one more time before they got dressed and went to the local restaurant Case had already picked out

Andrea loved the Mexican food they had for dinner. It was different than any she’d had before because of the Cuban influence being so close to the island had on the way the food was prepared. She ate until she was completely stuffed and decided she’d have to come back here again someday soon.

After dinner, they walked hand in hand down the beach, the moon lighting their way and illuminating the foam on the waves. It was a beautiful night with a gentle, cool breeze. Though she hated to spoil the mood, Andrea needed to tell him what the officers had mentioned that afternoon. She hadn’t said anything yet because she’d needed to process everything herself. He needed to know, though, even if the information was inconclusive. Talking through it with Case would likely help her to feel better about it, too.

“So… the police came by to speak to me this afternoon,” she began as a wave crashed against their bare ankles. Both of them were carrying their shoes.

“They did?” Case asked, his tone even, as if he could tell it had to have been an upsetting conversation for her to wait so long to say anything.

“Yes. They still have some investigating to do, but they haven’t been able to find Sven or link Sarah to him.”

Case was quiet for a few minutes as they continued to walk. Eventually, he asked, “Are they going to continue to look into things?”

“Yes. They said Sarah did call you before I left for the hospital, so they’re going to continue to interview the people that were on set that day to see if they can figure out if anyone actually called her. They’re also going to continue to look for Sven.”

“It sounds like they’re doing everything they can,” Case said. “Let’s just give them a chance to do their job.”

She nodded. What else could she do? “Even if they can’t tie it all back to Sarah, I hope they find him. He needs to be punished for this.”

“Well, you know how Sarah is. If she is involved, eventually she’ll say something to the wrong person, and we’ll find out how to make sure she gets in trouble for this.”

Andrea knew that was true because it had happened the last time with the coffee. “That’s probably what will happen.”

They continued to walk a bit further and then Case asked, “Why didn’t you tell me about what happened the first time? I really wish I would’ve known.”

“I signed a nondisclosure,” Andrea reminded him.

“I know. But I don’t think that’s why. I think there‘s more to it than that.”

Andrea knew he was right about that, too, but she couldn’t exactly articulate what it was. Finally, she said, “I guess… I was afraid you might not believe me.”

“Not believe you?” he questioned, shock in his voice. “How could I not believe you?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know. I was just afraid you might not. Most people don’t.”

“But I will always believe you, Andrea. You have to know that.” He stopped and turned to her, and Andrea spun to face him. “I love you more than anything, Andrea. Don’t ever feel like you can’t tell me anything, okay?”

“Okay. I love you, too.”

Case kissed her, and Andrea considered telling him the one last secret she hadn’t told to anyone, not even Kelsey. But it was buried too deep inside of her, and she knew digging it out would be too painful at the moment, so she left it buried deep down inside.
