Chapter 162 Right to Remain Silent

Back on the set Monday morning, Andrea found herself trying not to yawn. There were only two weeks left in production, and then this nightmare movie shoot would be over.

She would miss some aspects of it, though, like seeing Stephon so regularly and getting to work with Lance.

One of the things she wouldn’t miss was Wilma constantly yelling at everyone and threatening her if she started acting like a diva “again.” She also wouldn’t miss working with Sarah.

Today was the last day her half-sister was scheduled to be on set. She was supposed to be done on Friday, but a few of the scenes had needed retakes, and Wilma had let them go when Sarah started crying that she was going to miss her flight to Tennessee.

At least Leo was gone. That was something. Working with him the week before had been almost impossible. Having him out of the picture would be a relief at the very least.

“Okay, people! Five minutes from now, I’d better see everyone who’s in scene forty-three on the set!” Wilma shrieked from the other side of the sound stage. “And I don’t care how many awards you’ve won!”

Andrea tried not to roll her eyes since Stephon was busy drawing on her eyeliner. “We’re almost done,” he reminded her under his breath as he finished up.

“Thank God. If she’d been the director the entire time, I would’ve already ran away screaming.” But then, Andrea noted, it wasn’t Wilma who was involved in trying to kill her.

Sarah was already at the set when Andrea walked over four minutes later. She looked nervous. “Are you okay?” Andrea asked, resting a hand on her half-sister’s shoulder.

She jumped, like she hadn’t heard Andrea approaching. “Oh, hi,” Sarah said, letting out a slow breath. “I’m okay.”

“Are you sure? It seems like something’s bothering you.”

“Nope. Just hoping this is the last day I’m here.” She pulled her phone out of a secret pocket in her costume, checked it, and put it back in.

There was something strange about the way she was acting. Even when it had been five minutes since Wilma’s announcement, the set designers weren’t ready, so Andrea took a seat in her chair.

Kelsey came over behind her. “What’s up with Sarah?” she asked, gesturing at the other actress with her head.

“I don’t know,” Andrea admitted. Sarah was pacing back and forth, chewing on her thumb.

“I wonder if it has anything to do with Cam’s lie detector test, which is going on today.”

“It is?” Andrea turned and looked at her assistant. “How do you know that?”

Kelsey shrugged. “I have my resources. I wonder if she’s afraid he’ll take a plea deal and implicate her. I’m pretty sure that’s why they’re interrogating him.”

Andrea shook her head. She couldn’t imagine what her reaction would be if she found out for sure Sarah was tied to the plot to kill her. It had been a shock when she’d found out that Cam was involved, but knowing her half-sister had tried to have her drowned would be information it would take Andrea a long time to process.

Wilma’s booming voice alerted her that it was time to move to the set to begin shooting. With any luck, they’d get the scene down quickly, and this would be Sarah’s last day on set. While Andrea was able to tolerate her a lot more now than she could a few weeks ago, her life would be a lot simpler if Sarah wasn’t in it.

They filmed the same scene for hours. Wilma was looking for something they simply couldn’t get, and by the afternoon, they were all exhausted and cranky.

When Officer Gonzalez and Officer Buress walked in just after dinnertime, everyone’s nerves were frayed to the breaking point. Both officers quickly acknowledged her, but they weren’t there to see Andrea.

Instead, they walked right over to Sarah. The actress broke into tears as Officer Gonzalez quietly asked her to put her hands behind her back and Office Buress pulled out handcuffs.

“What are you doing?” Wilma demanded. “You can’t just waltz onto my set and arrest one of my actresses.”

“Judge Harvey disagrees.” Office Buress showed Wilma the warrant before she put it back in her pocket and finished cuffing Sarah.

“But… I need her!” Wilma shouted as the two officers began to lead Sarah out.

Andrea had tears in her eyes. She wasn’t sure what to think. “I didn’t do it, I promise!” Sarah shouted at her.

“Okay,” Andrea said, not sure what else to say.

“Can you have Case call Stewart, please?”

“Yes.” Andrea could do that. She wanted to believe Sarah had nothing to do with any of it, but it was hard to considering their past. She watched the officers lead her away and then pulled out her phone. Wilma was still screaming—but Andrea drowned her out, sure they were done with the scene, at least for the day. All Andrea wanted was to go home and cry.
