Chapter 173 Good News
“I’m sorry, Andrea. I should’ve told you,” Kelsey was saying over dinner later that night after a very long day of filming. “I just thought you were so busy with everything else, you wouldn’t care to hear about it.”
“Of course I care to hear about it! I care about what’s going on in your life. And I love distractions from mine. Anyway, feel free to ask him to come over whenever you like.”
“Thanks,” Kelsey said with a small smile. She was usually a level-headed person, but Andrea could tell she was excited about this new relationship. “I really like him. A lot.”
“Cool. He seems like a great guy.”
“Definitely.”
“And since I’ll be at Case’s house all weekend, with my family, the two of you will have the apartment to yourself.”
“Oh, I hadn’t thought about that. That’s… intriguing.” Kelsey gave her a devilish grin, and Andrea couldn’t help but chuckle.
Her phone started vibrating, and Andrea glanced down to see it was her agent. “Oh, it’s Myles!”
“Maybe he heard about the movie!” Kelsey said crossing her fingers and holding them up.
“I hope so!” she said before she answered. “Hi, Myles. What’s up?”
“Andrea—are you sitting down?” he asked, and she could tell by his tone it was good news.
“I am sitting down. Did you hear something?”
“I just heard back from the casting director for that movie you were asking about, and guess what?”
“What?” She stifled a laugh. He was always so dramatic about everything, but in this case it was sort of fun.
“You. Got. The. Lead!”
Despite having already guessed that, Andrea was so excited, she couldn’t help but grin from ear to ear. “I did? Yeah! That’s so awesome to hear!”
“Yes! You will be playing Sabrina in Leaving Poland! And the best part is they don’t want to start shooting until August and it’s a quick shoot, only eight weeks, nine tops. All in New York City, so it should be easy on your schedule. You can have your weekends. I already cleared that. And they are offering the price you requested, too.”
That part was stunning to her. “They are?” She’d asked for way more money than she’d ever made before, at Myles’s suggestion, thinking they’d come down at least a couple of hundred thousand.
“Andrea, darling, you’re an award winner now. They’ll pay you what you’re worth. This is a small production with a big budget, hoping to earn some awards and a lot of attention from film festivals. I think this is a great project for you. The part is moving, and you’ll handle it nicely, but it’s also a step in the right direction as far as winning the best actress award is considered. This is going to be your masterpiece, Andrea.”
His words brought tears to her eyes. “Myles, I really don’t know what to say. Thank you so much.”
“Thank you, darling. I’ll get you the contract tomorrow. I made sure there was nothing in it you’ll oppose—no nudity or anything like that—and then you’ll get it back to me, and we’ll await word that filming is ready to begin.”
“All right, Myles. You know how much I appreciate you, don’t you?”
“Right back at you, dear. I’ll be in touch.”
They hung up and Andrea wiped tears from her eyes as Kelsey came over to give her a hug. “I’m so proud of you, Andrea,” she said.
“Thank you. This is going to be a great project, I can feel it in my bones. I really do think this is the one that will put me on the map.”
Smoothing back her hair, Kelsey smiled and said, “Honey, you’re already on the map. This is just going to be the one that makes you a legend.”
Andrea smiled, knowing she needed to call Case and her mom. It felt great to have so many people who loved her and wanted to see her do well that she wasn’t even sure who to call first.
“We should go out for drinks to celebrate!” Kelsey said.
“We should—if I didn’t have to be on set at seven in the morning.” She rolled her eyes. Even thinking of listening to what Wilma would say fi she was late made her stomach ache.
Kelsey laughed. “Four more days.”
“Thank God!”
