Chapter 66 Sister From the Same Mister
Andrea’s head was pounding, not because she’d fallen—she was sure Stephon had caught her—but because Sarah was shouting, and probably because all of the blood had left her brain so quickly when the color drained from her face.
She tried to sit up, but the nurse, a kind woman named Brenda, told her to take it easy. A few feet away, Sarah was pacing. “I can’t believe you never told me!” she shrieked.
“I didn’t know!” her dad, Alan—and Andrea’s dad—was saying, shrugging his shoulders. “I would’ve told you, but I had no idea.”
“How could you not know? She’s your daughter for crying out loud!”
“After I left her mother, I never had any contact with them again.”
Andrea sat up quicker than she should have, not able to heed Brenda’s warning because she was so mad. “So it’s true? You are my biological father?”
Alan was sitting on a stool a few feet away from her, Sarah on his other side, pacing, and Stephon was standing at the head of the cot where Andrea had been laying, watching over her. Behind her, Andrea could see the two body guards she’d hired since Sarah’s last prank and Kelsey. They all looked relieved that she was okay.
Repositioning himself, as if he were uncomfortable in every way possible, Alan said, “Yeah, I think so. You’re Karen Testa’s daughter?”
“Yes. My real name is Andrea Testa.”
“And you have a sister? Leslie?”
“Yes.”
Alan nodded. “Then… yes. I’m your dad.”
“Where the hell have you been?” Andrea shouted, flying up off the cot and narrowing the distance between them. Stephon was there to keep her back, though, and then one of her guards, a huge guy named Rick, had his hand on her other arm.
“I… uh… can we talk alone?”
“No! I don’t ever want to be alone with you, you jacka*s!” Andrea screamed.
Alan ran a hand through his hair, and then said, “Look, I was already married when I met your mom. I was a traveling sales man. I sold vacuum sweepers. I had Sarah’s mom, Laura, and Sarah was a baby. But… I liked Karen. Maybe I even loved her. So… I wanted to start a family with her, too.”
“Wait—you had two families at the same time in two different states?” Andrea asked.
“You b*stard!” Sarah shouted, taking a swing at him. Rick stopped her, and then her own assistant, Gidget, stepped over to put her arm around Sarah.
“I did. Until… Laura found out. Then, I had to choose. I’d been with her longer. Sarah was old enough to remember me. You were only two. She was three or four.”
“You don’t even know how old I am!” Sarah blurted.
“I do know. I just… it was a long time ago. Anyway, I left. I’m sorry, Andrea. It wasn’t the right thing to do. I was young and stupid. If I had known….”
“What? That I was also a famous actress? You’re a sorry piece of work, Alan Locke. I never, ever want to see your face again. You can have him, Sarah.” She narrowed her eyes at him and then walked away, fighting tears. The last thing she wanted was for her dad to see her cry. Not over him.
Cam walked over and put his arm around her. “I’m so sorry, Andrea. This is… so crazy.”
“You can say that again. My dad is a jacka*s, and Sarah is my half-sister!” She didn’t dare say to Cam what she was thinking since she’d sworn to be nice to Sarah on set, but she couldn’t believe she was actually related to Sarah Lockton.
“Maybe we shouldn’t try to film today.”
“No, I’m ready. My scene with Lance is one where I’m angry that he’s taken me prisoner. I can definitely do that scene. And Sarah and I fight again. I’m good. She just better not slap me or spit in my face.”
“Are you sure?”
“I’m sure, Cam. Let’s do this.”
Andrea desperately wanted to go call Case and tell him everything that had just gone on, but she knew it was a conversation she needed to have in person.
Stephon fixed her makeup, the hairstylist adjusted some strands that had gotten messed up when she fainted, and she was ready to go.
With confidence, Andrea walked onto the set. She was a professional actress. This was her outlet, her way of dealing with emotions. Now, more than ever before, she was ready to leave it all on the set and become Isabella, one angry pirate princess.
