Chapter 101

About twenty minutes later, Agnes's phone buzzed. Leopold: [Go to Ethan's office.]

Agnes was puzzled, typing: [Why?]

Leopold replied: [You'll know when you get there.]

Agnes put away her phone, "Clara, I have something to do. You go find your Jeremy first!"

With that, Agnes hurriedly left.

Clara, helplessly munching on a hot dog, thought Jeremy was busy studying for exams; how could he have time for her?

Arriving at Ethan's office, Agnes knocked on the door. A familiar voice came, "Come in."

That voice made her heart race. Was Leopold here?

Agnes pushed the door open and entered. Ethan was nowhere to be seen, but there was Leopold, the one who made her heart race. "Leopold, what are you doing here?"

Leopold stood up and handed her a paper bag, "Didn't you want some juice?"

Holding the juice, Agnes's eyes welled up. In this cold wind, he could have just said, 'If you want to drink, go buy it.' Why did he have to deliver it himself?

On the way, she thought he might have someone deliver the juice for her. She didn't expect Leopold to come in person. "Leopold, aren't you cold? Why bother?"

Leopold ruffled her hair, "I'm not cold. Kevin drove me here. Drink it while it's warm."

She carefully took out the juice and sipped it, surprised, "Leopold, how did you know I like this?"

Seeing her happy, he was pleased too and didn't say much, "I'm glad you like it."

"Then you try some, too." She held the juice close to him, looking at him expectantly.

She suddenly remembered his germophobia and knew he wouldn't share a straw, so she pulled back, "Never mind. Next time, I'll buy two cups, and we can drink together."

Just as he leaned in, she pulled the juice away. He said, "Why not?"

She said casually, "There's only one straw."

The next second, he grabbed her hand. Their eyes met. In her puzzled gaze, Leopold bit the straw she had used and took a sip.

After tasting it, Leopold seriously commented, "Except for being too sweet, it's pretty good."

Agnes looked at him and couldn't help but ask, "You don't mind?" She had experienced his germophobia many times, especially at home. His room was spotless, and she didn't dare to step in, fearing she would dirty it.

Leopold raised an eyebrow, "You're my wife. What would I mind?"

His words made her smile from ear to ear, "Then have another sip?"

To prove he really didn't mind, Leopold not only took another sip of the juice but also pulled her into a deep kiss.

The fragrance of the juice lingered between them, filling Agnes's heart with sweetness. It was truly wonderful when she got along with Leopold.

Outside, snowflakes were falling, but inside, it was warm like spring. On the sofa, he held her, watching her sip the juice.

Agnes's eyes sparkled, "Leopold, let me tell you a story!"

"Okay." He guessed Agnes was up to something mischievous again.

"Listen carefully. Once, there was a fool who always said 'no.' No matter what you asked, he would answer 'no.' Have you heard this joke before?" Agnes asked seriously, looking up.

Leopold lightly smiled, "You've told this story before."

"No," Agnes said.

Leopold chuckled, and Agnes realized she had fallen into his trap.

Looking at the smiling Leopold, she pouted and started hitting him, "Why are you so clever? You're so annoying. Why are you calling me a fool?"

Leopold tightened his arms around her, his breath filled with the scent of her hair, "Are you sure you're not mocking yourself?"

Agnes huffed, knowing she was in the wrong, and stopped arguing.

She didn't believe Leopold was that hard to deceive. Racking her brain to recall some trickery she had read before, she asked after a while, "If a beautiful, well-shaped lady sat on your lap, would you be tempted?"

This time, he answered quickly, shaking his head, "No."

The only one who could tempt him was Agnes.
