Chapter 121
In the eyes of women other than Justin, their jealousy almost devoured Agnes alive.
"Agnes!" Kelly and Ethan's voices rang out.
Kevin keenly noticed a few men itching to approach Agnes, but upon seeing Kelly and Ethan, they restrained their impulses.
Agnes put down the dessert she had barely touched, raised her glass of red wine, and lightly clinked it with theirs, saying in the most casual tone, "Kelly, Mr. Perez, good evening!"
Ethan took a step back, his eyes scanning Agnes from head to toe, his undisguised admiration evident. "Hmm, not bad at all. It seems Leopold has been taking good care of you."
Kelly let go of Ethan, took Agnes's hand, and said softly, "Of course, our Agnes now looks like a woman basking in the happiness of love!"
See, Kelly was as gentle as when they first met. Who could imagine that the wild figure swaying on the dance floor was the same person? Agnes smiled wryly.
Ethan pinched Kelly's cheek and then asked Agnes, "So, are you here on behalf of Leopold today?"
"Yes, he's on a business trip."
Ethan nodded, satisfied. "That's good too!" Seeing that Agnes and Leopold were living happily, he was relieved.
Due to their busy schedules, Ethan and his wife only chatted briefly with Agnes before heading elsewhere, and Kevin was no exception. Even though he was just an assistant, many people sought his favor.
Agnes took a few sips and then headed towards the restroom.
On her way back, a woman stood quietly in the hallway, dressed in an elegant champagne-colored evening gown and holding the latest handbag, seemingly waiting for her. Upon seeing her, she called out, "Agnes."
Her voice was neither high nor low, her emotions flat.
Why was Faith here? If Faith was here, where was Michael?
Agnes nodded slightly and responded briefly, "Hello."
"Is it really you?" Faith only now confirmed that the dazzling figure at the party was indeed Agnes.
Agnes smiled faintly and replied, "Yes, it's me. If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
As a married woman, it was best to have as little interaction with the Wright Family as possible.
She turned to leave but was stopped by Faith. "Why are you in such a hurry? What are you avoiding?"
Faith's words were quite amusing. Agnes focused her playful gaze back on her. "Yes, what am I avoiding?"
Faith scrutinized her. Having grown up in a wealthy family, she could easily discern the authenticity and value of Agnes's attire and accessories. But she was unwilling to believe how expensive Agnes's clothes and accessories were. Jealously, she said, "Are you afraid others will see that you're wearing fake brands and fake diamonds?"
Agnes couldn't help but laugh, gently stroking the crystal bracelet on her wrist, showcasing her well-maintained right hand. "When did the Wright Family's young lady become so unknowledgeable? Has the Wright Family fallen, or is Michael unwilling to spend money on you after taking over?"
According to Kevin, the crystal jewelry she was wearing was a coveted treasure among the socialites of Lumina City, made from an extremely rare natural variety of crystal.
The crystal itself had collectible value, and the bracelet, designed by a master, was even more expensive.
It was recently reported in the media that it was put on the shelves at the Sunrise International Shopping Mall and was immediately bought at a high price by a mysterious buyer—Leopold, who personally brought it back to the villa and gave it to Agnes.
Agnes's slender right hand, with coffee-colored nail polish, wore a crystal ring that sparkled under the light, piercing Faith's eyes. Agnes was as detestable as ever!
Suppressing her jealousy, Faith responded haughtily, "You might be disappointed. The Wright Group is thriving under Michael's management, and he spoils me more than ever. I get half a million dollars in pocket money every month! What about you, Ms. Tudor? I heard you got married. Did you marry a mere assistant?"
Although Kevin was Leopold's assistant and highly capable, he was still just an assistant.
Agnes withdrew her hand, smiled, and did not refute. "What's wrong with a mere assistant? An assistant is still someone from ZL Group and Leopold's man. Ms. Wright, you should know that anyone associated with Leopold has some status and influence in Lumina City."
She took a breath and continued, "You have half a million dollars in pocket money? Is that all the Wright Group can afford? Sorry, what my husband gives me is worth ten times that amount!"
Not to mention the bank card Leopold gave her, just the monthly revenue from the Wonderhaven Private Club in Lumina City far exceeded half a million dollars by a hundredfold!
Faith was puzzled. How could Agnes, who married Kevin, have the audacity to mock her? She glanced at Agnes disdainfully and sarcastically said, "You're right, anyone associated with Mr. Neville has status and power in Lumina City. But don't forget, no matter how capable Kevin is, he's just an assistant. Your husband isn't Leopold, so I don't understand what you're so proud of! Do you think Kevin, a mere assistant, can give you millions or even five million dollars in pocket money each month, Agnes? Do you think I'm that easy to fool? Or are you saying Kevin is embezzling?"
Fool? She never said Kevin was her husband. Embezzling? That's nonsense! Kevin was an honest man who could easily get caught up in trouble.
Agnes sighed silently. Fortunately, she married Leopold; otherwise, she would have been oppressed by people like Faith and Grace for a lifetime! "Whatever. If Ms. Wright has nothing else, I'll take my leave."
"Stop!" Faith suddenly realized the significant change in Agnes. The once fearless woman now appeared even more aloof, as if she looked down on everyone.
She was confused. How could Agnes, who clearly married Kevin, a mere assistant, give the impression that she had married Leopold and become his wife? High and mighty, even defiant?
Agnes turned back, her words sharp. "In the past, out of respect for Michael, I tolerated, accommodated, and even tried to please you. From now on, I won't do that anymore. Whether it's Faith or Michael, I, Agnes, will no longer be submissive!"
"Are you saying you want to be enemies with the Wright Family in the future?"
Agnes suddenly smiled, her beautiful face tinged with contempt. "Interpret it however you like." To her, the thoughts of irrelevant people didn't matter!
Agnes left, and Faith stood there, staring at the receding red figure. On the surface, she was calm, but her branded handbag bore deep marks from her tightly clenched nails.
It had only been a few days since they last met, and the Agnes she once looked down upon now dared to speak to her with such arrogance. How out of touch with reality she had become!
Agnes, after all, had only married Leopold's assistant Kevin, not Leopold himself! Let's see how long you can maintain that pride!
Just as she was about to enter the banquet hall, Agnes was stopped by two women. They looked her up and down and spoke with a hint of displeasure, "Someone wants to see you!"
"Who?" Agnes was sure she had never met these two before.
The woman in the black dress spoke harshly, "Who cares who it is, just come with us!"
Agnes stifled a laugh. Tonight, she wasn't just attending on behalf of Leopold; she was dealing with all sorts of strange people!
"Sorry, I'm quite busy." With that, she stepped around them in her high heels and walked away.
The woman in black called out urgently, "Hey, do you dare to defy Ms. Garcia's orders? Do you still want to stay in Lumina City? Do you know that Ms. Garcia is someone Mr. Neville likes?"
They waited smugly for Agnes to turn back in panic and follow them to see Ella.
But Agnes only paused for a moment, didn't turn around, and disappeared from their sight.
The banquet hall was still bustling, and the desserts Leopold had prepared for her were delicious. Even though she was already full, she couldn't help but head to the dessert area.
She picked up a dessert and found a secluded corner. Before she could take a bite, a familiar figure quietly sat beside her. He looked around cautiously and whispered, "Leopold didn't come?"
Agnes took a small bite of the mango pancake and glanced disdainfully at Justin. "Why are you acting like a thief?"
Justin, dressed in a black and gray checkered suit and burgundy shoes, stared intently at her. "What do you think? Leopold is extremely possessive. As your best male friend, I'm bound to be targeted by him sooner or later!"
Before Agnes could respond, Justin grabbed her arm and said seriously, "Agnes, promise me, you must never cheat!"
Agnes almost choked on her dessert. "Are you tired of living?"
Justin then lowered his voice mysteriously. "I just saw Michael. He's now a significant figure in Lumina City's business world, surrounded by socialites and CEOs!"
At this point, Justin seemed tired and casually took a piece of dessert from Agnes's plate and popped it into his mouth. "I really don't understand why girls love sweets so much. How long has it been since you last saw him? Have you met since he returned?"
"No." Her world was now entirely filled with Leopold. Leopold was enough to captivate her, leaving no room for anyone else.
Justin waved to an acquaintance and then turned to Agnes. "Hey, Agnes, let me introduce you to my girlfriend!"
"Sure!" This piqued her interest.
Looking up, she saw a woman walking gracefully towards them. Agnes almost choked on her tea. Justin's taste remained consistent; his girlfriend's bust, waist, and hips were all above average!
She appeared to be in her early twenties, with red wavy hair, wearing a sexy black evening gown, and high heels!
Justin beckoned with his finger, and the woman immediately threw herself into his arms coquettishly. "Justin, I've been looking for you everywhere!"
