Chapter 84
Back at the villa, Leopold hopped out of the car first, opened the back door, grabbed the lipsticks from her arms, and then helped Agnes out of the car.
Every move he made was so careful, it almost made Agnes feel like she was some delicate pregnant woman needing extra care.
Inside, Leopold started unwrapping the lipsticks and lined them up on Agnes's vanity. Agnes finally couldn't hold back, "Leopold, don't unwrap all of them!"
Unwrapping gifts was half the fun for her.
Leopold looked puzzled. Did he mess up again?
Seeing no reaction from him, Agnes quickly snatched another unopened set from his hand, "These are gifts you bought for me. Why are you unwrapping them all? If you do that, what will I have left to unwrap?"
Seeing her distressed look, Leopold got it. He wrapped his arm around her and gently kissed her forehead, "Then you do this. I'll go take a shower first."
With that, Leopold headed to the bathroom.
Watching him leave, Agnes couldn't help but say, "Don't think that apologizing and giving me a few sets of lipsticks will make everything okay."
She wasn't that easy to win over.
Leopold turned around, his gaze softening, "Of course, I know." He knew Agnes well enough to know she wouldn't forgive easily, but that was fine. He'd make her come around!
After Leopold left, the room went quiet. Eventually, Agnes gave in to the temptation of the lipsticks. She sat at the vanity, happily unwrapping each set and sorting them.
As usual, Bella would get the bold colors, Clara the softer ones. The light brown-red would go to her aunt Marissa. Perfect!
She noticed Leopold coming back in a bathrobe and softly asked, "Can I give some of these lipsticks away?"
Leopold's face darkened a bit, "You don't like them?"
"Not that, some colors just don't suit me. It'd be a waste to keep them," she said.
Leopold's expression softened, "It's up to you. They're yours now."
He walked over to the vanity, opened the lipstick box she had just closed, and saw that the colors she kept were pretty much the ones he had chosen.
Classic red, maple red, dark red, wine red, and a few light reds, maybe for when she wasn't wearing much makeup. The fuchsia, orange-red, and purple ones were already set aside to give away.
Closing the box, Leopold seemed to remember something and went to the next room to fetch an item, "This is a new bath set from our company. Try it out. Remember to add... never mind, I'll do it."
Ten minutes later, watching Leopold pour milk into the bathtub, Agnes tentatively asked, "Leopold, did you do something wrong to me?" Otherwise, why was he being so considerate?
He didn't just apologize; he was personally preparing her bath. How could she stay calm?
"Yes." The things he said today were indeed out of line.
After that single word, there was no further explanation, and Agnes's mind started to wander, "So you and Lydia were really..."
"Agnes!" Leopold suddenly turned around, looking displeased, cutting off her wild thoughts.
Agnes immediately clammed up. When Leopold finished pouring the milk, she muttered, "If that's the case, you don't have to feel too guilty. Our marriage isn't perfect. If you two are truly in love, I can let you... What are you doing? Don't pull my clothes!"
Agnes hurriedly clutched her sweater, but Leopold had already tossed aside her outerwear.
"If you don't take a bath now, I don't mind helping you do it!" he said.
"Alright, fine," she said, knowing when to pick her battles.
Leopold's cold gaze swept over her once more before he finally let her go and strode out of the bathroom.
As the door closed, Agnes breathed a sigh of relief. While bathing, she was full of doubts. Clearly, she should be the one angry, so why did Leopold seem even more upset?
Soaking in the fragrant bubbles, she enjoyed a relaxing bath, then yawned and applied the bath lotion Leopold had left behind. Being a foodie, she almost couldn't resist tasting it!
After finishing her bath, her skin, which had become slightly rough from long-term martial arts practice, became smooth and tender under the nourishment of the body lotion.
Looking at her refreshed self in the mirror, Agnes couldn't help but touch her silky legs a few more times, thinking that she must take good care of her skin in the future to avoid aging prematurely.
She put on pajamas and tidied up the bathroom. With her long hair still wet, she walked out the door. She thought Leopold would be working in the study, but she found him already lying in bed, leaning against the headboard, talking on the phone.
Since she appeared, Leopold's gaze had never left her.
He watched as she carefully applied skincare products at the vanity, then took the hairdryer and went back into the bathroom.
The sound of the hairdryer soon filled the bathroom, and Leopold quickly ended his call with Dennis, "Get three Alkaid fourth-floor SPA cards for Agnes."
Three cards? Dennis understood immediately, "Okay."
"Also, set up a separate lipstick research lab at InnovateLab Estates with all the materials ready so Agnes can have something to do in her spare time. Register a brand called AgnesGlow so it can be sold anytime in the future. She also likes singing. Set up a music studio with a piano, guitar, and the most advanced music equipment, all fully equipped," Leopold said.
"Yes, Mr. Neville," Dennis replied. Leopold was about to spoil Agnes to the extreme!
As for her love for martial arts, she wouldn't need to train so hard anymore. With him by her side to protect her, she only needed to learn self-defense and wouldn't have to endure that hardship.
"One more thing, after all those things, delegate the upcoming work to others. You need to go abroad to find an item. I remember seeing it at an auction, a blue and white diamond rough," Leopold said.
That diamond rough was as pure and flawless as water, especially the light blue part, which was the most precious. That rough stone happened to have a light blue hue.
If he remembered correctly, light blue should be one of Agnes's favorites.
"Yes, Mr. Neville!" Dennis said.
"Get it at any cost," Leopold said.
Dennis remained silent.
When Agnes came out of the bathroom, Leopold had already hung up the phone. She stood by the bed and asked, "Aren't you going back to your room to sleep?"
