Chapter 86
Anita adjusted her glasses and said respectfully, "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Neville. I'm Anita Bridges, Mr. Neville's assistant. I've got something for you."
When Anita realized who Agnes was, she couldn't help but take a few extra glances. Agnes was really young and beautiful!
Anita opened the passenger seat and pulled out a handbag. "Mrs. Neville, inside are three VIP cards for the top-tier SPA on the fourth floor of Alkaid. If you have time tonight, you and your friends might want to check it out."
The three of them exchanged looks.
Agnes took the bag and opened one of the fancy boxes inside. A shiny gold card that read "Tivona Wellness Spa" was inside.
Each card was worth $100,000!
Clara gasped and quickly said, "I really appreciate Mr. Neville's kindness, but I can't accept the card. I'll always be with Agnes, helping Mr. Neville take care of her."
She couldn't take this one because she had already accepted a $200,000 card for the fifth floor of Alioth from Leopold.
Bella felt the same, holding Agnes's arm tightly and looking at Anita with gratitude, "We're really benefiting from Agnes's connection. Please take our gifts back to Mr. Neville. Thank you!"
Anita looked at Bella and Clara with admiration, "You don't have to return these. Mr. Neville also hopes that when Mrs. Neville goes to the SPA, she has you two friends with her so that she won't be lonely."
Bella and Clara were speechless.
Clara declined, "I understand Mr. Neville's intentions. We'll go with Agnes to the SPA, but I can't accept this card."
Bella nodded, "Agnes, you keep the card. If needed, I'll ask my dad for more allowance to go with you." Although Bella had other beauty salon cards, she couldn't afford the Tivona Wellness Spa on the fourth floor of Alkaid. For Agnes' sake, Bella would mention Leopold's name to her dad, and he would likely give his consent.
Anita said no more, just smiled and looked at Agnes, as the decision was ultimately hers.
Agnes understood Bella and Clara's feelings. After hesitating for a moment, she decided to call Leopold. Walking as she dialed, she said, "Mr. Neville."
"What should you call me?" Leopold's deep voice came through, making Agnes blush.
"We're not going to accept the cards Anita brought. We don't usually go to SPAs while at school," Agnes said. It was true; they rarely indulged in such luxury.
"Girls should live more elegantly. Do I need to teach you that?" As far as he knew, since her father's passing, Agnes rarely indulged herself.
He provided a generous allowance, but she only took a small portion. How could she be so hard on herself, to the point where it pained him?
Agnes remained silent.
"The SPA cards are just the start. As my wife, you'll need to get used to different social settings. I'll be taking you to various events to meet new people, so you need to work on yourself. Got it?" Leopold said.
"But..." Agnes started.
"I know you don't like socializing, and I respect that. But some things are necessary, like treating yourself well. To do that, you need to learn to enjoy life," Leopold said.
Agnes stayed silent.
Five minutes later, she hung up the phone, convinced, and accepted the three SPA cards. "Thanks, Anita."
"You're welcome, Mrs. Neville. I'll head back to the office now," Anita replied.
After Anita drove away, Agnes took out two of the fancy boxes and handed them to Clara and Bella, explaining, "He doesn't care about the money. He said if you don't accept these, it means you're distancing yourselves from me and not treating me as a true friend. Just take them. I'm already feeling a bit helpless."
Clara still hesitated, "Agnes, we already accepted a $200,000 VIP card. Taking this one too makes us feel really uneasy."
Agnes shook her head, "I can't understand the mind of a capitalist." If it were her, she would also feel awkward accepting something worth $200,000 from someone else's husband. "Don't overthink it. Just take it. I'm just as confused."
That evening, when Agnes decided to confront Leopold, she found out he had gone on a business trip. According to Kevin, who had just returned, Leopold wouldn't be back for at least a month.
Even though Leopold was away, her tasks remained the same, with someone always supervising. He was indeed molding her to the standards of a socialite, with daily yoga and dance classes, occasional SPA treatments, flower arranging, tea parties, art exhibitions, bowling, and even women's baseball invitations. At night, she enjoyed milk petal baths.
She was forced to immerse herself in the daily life of high society ladies. Just as Agnes felt she was about to break, Leopold finally returned.
In those two months, aside from a few initial texts, they barely communicated. Agnes naturally opposed his arrangements, but Leopold's single sentence silenced all her objections. From that moment on, she ignored him.
Even when she learned that Leopold had signed her up for a dance performance at the school gala, she was fuming at him without consulting her, yet she didn't refuse or question him.
Leopold's return coincided with the night of the gala.
On stage, Agnes wore a vintage sky-blue dance dress and slowly stepped into the center.
Under the spotlight, her full appearance was revealed, leaving the audience momentarily speechless.
They couldn't believe that the once tomboyish Agnes could have such a gentle and elegant side.
She spun and leaped, each movement captivating the audience's attention.
When the dance ended, thunderous applause erupted.
