Chapter 53

Leopold shot a cold glance and snapped, "Man, if you turned into a woman, that'd be so weird! Don't mess with us guys."

Leroy, always thinking he was the handsome one, wasn't having it. "Leopold, you're too much! I'm so good-looking; even as a woman, I'd be a knockout, right, Clifford?"

Clifford ignored him, poured wine into Leopold's and his own glass, and they clinked glasses. "I'm on vacation right now, so I'll handle other stuff. You just focus on your work, and I'll get in touch with Kevin if needed."

Leopold swirled the wine in his glass. "Kevin's not around me, contact Dennis."

Leroy looked confused and pressed on, "Isn't Kevin your personal assistant? Where's he at?"

Leopold fell silent, finding it hard to say, "He and my wife deceived me together."

Leroy couldn't hold back and burst into laughter. Even Clifford got curious. "Did Kevin and Agnes hook up?"

Leopold snorted, "She might have the guts, but Kevin wouldn't dare!"

Everyone knew who he meant by 'she.'

Leopold thought Agnes might be getting bolder, but one day, he'd make her obedient!

Leroy curiously asked, "So what's Kevin up to now?"

"He got sent to the front lines for training, experiencing the hardships of the working class firsthand. He'll appreciate his position as a personal assistant more. I heard he's doing well on the construction site. It suits him!" Leopold said.

The room went quiet for a moment, and Leroy finally couldn't hold it in. "Why did Ethan have to go on a business trip now? If he were here, the four of us could play Bridge with some beauties! Now we're one short, and you refuse to play with outsiders. It's so boring!"

Leopold ignored his complaint, glanced at the time, and noted that the yoga class would be over. It was time to tutor Agnes in French.

Leopold downed his glass of wine and stood up to leave. "I'm heading out."

Leroy looked at Leopold's departing figure in disbelief. Married Leopold was indeed different. But even in the past three years, Leopold hadn't gone home this early.

So, had Leopold fallen for Agnes?

As the bodyguards opened the door, the noise from outside filtered in. Just as Leopold was about to step out, Leroy casually remarked, "Anyway, you can't do much now. With Agnes's personality, you might as well try to compromise and pamper her. It might be your only choice."

Though Justin was unreliable in his actions, he had a good eye for people. Leroy didn't know Agnes well, but he believed that anyone who could maintain a long friendship with Justin must have decent character.

As Leopold's figure disappeared through the door, Leroy raised an eyebrow at Clifford. "Clifford, wanna bet?"

"Not interested!" Clifford refused flatly. Besides, their identities were completely opposite. Leroy was involved in the criminal underworld, while he was a soldier. He despised Leroy's shady dealings. If it weren't for Leopold and Ethan, he would have taken action against Leroy long ago.

"You're no fun! Come on, it's about Leopold. I bet he'll become a henpecked husband, the kind who willingly submits to his wife." If Leroy knew Clifford's thoughts, he would feel wronged. Though Leroy was involved in the underworld, he never did anything harmful.

Clifford remained silent.

He didn't believe it! Someone as proud as Leopold would submit to Agnes?

Leroy had long coveted Clifford's handgun. "If I win, that new handgun of yours is mine!" It was said that Clifford had a new model handgun, unremarkable in appearance but extremely powerful.

"Fine, if I win, you quit the Red Leaf Gang?" Clifford said.

The stakes were high, but Leroy was confident he'd win. He agreed without hesitation.

Leroy and Clifford downed their drinks, set their glasses down, and hurried to catch up with Leopold.

Justin had organized the high school reunion at a swanky club. When Agnes arrived, she was busy canceling her yoga class and didn't notice where she was.

After hanging up, she followed the crowd into the private room.

In the largest room, there were three or four tables with dozens of people.

When Justin finally showed up, everyone stood up to greet him. His arrangements were the reason they were at this exclusive club tonight.

This place was a dream for many but tough to get into. The club had a strict membership policy, with fees reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Agnes tugged on the cheerful Justin's sleeve and whispered, "Why'd you book this place? Aren't you afraid they'll make you wash dishes to pay for it?"

"Afraid of what? I have my brother's membership card! There's at least two hundred grand on it! If I don't use his money, whose should I use?" he said. Although Agnes had heard of Justin's brother, Leroy, she didn't really know him. Even if they had met before, she couldn't remember what he looked like.

Justin secretly hoped to drain Leroy's assets. He didn't have much affection for his half-brother Leroy.

Once, Justin accidentally passed by Leroy's room and saw a high-end membership card left on the table. Without a second thought, he pocketed it.

Agnes knew a bit about Justin and Leroy's entanglements. Though Justin verbally expressed disdain for Leroy, Agnes noticed that he sometimes took Leroy's words to heart.

'For someone who claims to disdain him, I think sometimes you actually listen to Leroy,' she thought to herself.

"Mr. Smith, what are you two whispering about? Come on over!" The crowd's jeering interrupted Justin and Agnes's conversation.

Justin responded loudly, "Coming, coming! Tony, I'm going to try to get you to loosen up a bit tonight. Ready?" Before he finished speaking, he gave Agnes a peculiar look. "I'll drink less, and you can't drink at all."

The man called Tony heard this and, seeing Justin and Agnes whispering again, immediately teased, "Are you two leveling up your relationship? Do you even need Agnes's permission to drink?"

Agnes and Justin were the talk of the school during their high school days, and gossips about their relationship were numerous. However, to this day, they remained just friends.

Agnes couldn't stand Justin's flirtatious ways, while Justin frowned at Agnes's lack of romantic interest.

In the end, they both agreed that they were best suited as good friends.

"Save it. Even if we shared a bed, we'd just chat under the covers and maybe play around a bit!" Justin pulled out a chair for Agnes, who rolled her eyes at him and sat down.

Agnes wasn't too keen on attending such gatherings. From childhood, many girls distanced themselves from her because of her outstanding looks and good relationships with boys.

Seeing her old classmates again, she knew she'd have to endure their cutting remarks. They wouldn't dare confront Agnes directly, afraid she'd lash out. But their jealousy made them take jabs at her in more subtle ways.

In fact, Agnes felt wronged. She had always been lenient with girls. Over the years, she had never laid a hand on a girl, even when Grace provoked her daily. She limited herself to verbal threats, at most playing a small prank.

It wasn't that Agnes didn't dare; she just didn't see the need to hit these delicate girls. It wouldn't be good if she accidentally hurt them.
