Chapter 51

The info on the screen hit her like a ton of bricks, and she just sat there, staring at it, not moving a muscle.

Finally, she shot back a reply, put her phone away, and zoned out, her eyes on the textbook but her mind somewhere else. [Agnes, my flight's the day after tomorrow. Can you pick me up? I miss you and wanna see you ASAP.]

Was she gonna go? No way. She told him she had classes all day and couldn't make it.

He replied super fast: [I'll be in Lumina City around 3 PM. I'll help you catch up on the classes you miss.]

She was so into the text that she didn't even notice when Leopold walked up.

Leopold's voice cut through her thoughts as she was typing: [I]

He knocked on the desk, and his big hand reached out to her.

Leopold had a strict no-phone rule in class. Agnes quickly shoved her phone into her pocket, sat up straight, and tried to look innocent.

But Leopold wasn't backing down. His hand moved slowly towards her pocket, clearly wanting the phone.

Agnes realized she hadn't locked the screen. If she handed it over, he'd see everything.

She laughed awkwardly, pretended to be clueless, and put her hand in his, all while everyone watched.

The class went nuts. Agnes was actually touching Leopold's hand!

The girls shot daggers at her, wishing they could chop off her hand.

Leopold frowned and shook off her hand, and reached out again. Even crazier, Agnes put her other hand on his.

Someone muttered, "Shameless!"

Agnes shot a cold look in that direction, making the girl shrink back.

Then, Justin did something that floored Agnes. He yanked the phone out of her pocket and handed it to Leopold.

Justin added, "Mr. Neville, Agnes has actually been paying attention in class!"

Leopold took the phone. The screen was still on, and he paused at the text message. His eyes darkened as he gave Agnes a cold look. He pocketed her phone and went back to teaching.

'I'm screwed!' Agnes glared at Justin. Justin, looking confused, leaned in and whispered, "You're so brave. I was scared to death and didn't dare use my phone. Unfortunately, you got caught. But he's your husband, so you'll get your phone back. Why are you freaking out?"

Why was she freaking out? Leopold saw her text to her ex. How could she not freak out?

The worst part was she was gonna say, "I don't think we need to meet again." But when Leopold showed up, she only typed one word. Anyone would think she was gonna say, "I miss you."

Under the desk, Agnes squeezed one of Justin's fingers hard.

Justin winced but stayed quiet, enduring the pain.

While Leopold was talking into the mic, she whispered to Justin, "If I get in trouble at home, Justin, I'm telling Leopold you sent the text!"

"What text?" Justin asked, feeling a bad vibe.

Agnes grinned mischievously, half-joking to scare him, "Michael's coming back. He said he misses me and wants to go on a date."

"Michael's coming back? Why?" Justin's focus was spot on.

Agnes glanced at the podium where Leopold was. Leopold was looking right at her with a warning, their eyes meeting. "It has nothing to do with me!" she answered.

After Leopold turned away, she added, "I didn't save Michael's number. If Leopold asks, I'll say the text was from you!"

"Oh my God!" Justin looked at her in shock. "Do you have to get me in trouble like this? I really didn't know you were texting Michael!"

Agnes winked at him smugly, "Now you know the trouble! If Leopold thinks I'm sending flirty texts to you, I'm really curious how he'll deal with you."

Leopold suddenly turned around, and Agnes immediately sat up straight, nervously looking at the big screen. His gaze locked onto her, making her feel like she was sitting on pins and needles. 'Oh my God, why is Leopold's gaze so sharp, like a leopard ready to pounce!'

It was only then that she fully understood that Leopold was teaching just to keep an eye on her. Otherwise, how could he find fault with her every class?

As expected, she was called to the office again after class. Handing her textbook to Justin, she casually said, "If you have time, go buy some fireworks."

"For what?" Justin was puzzled.

"For the day Leopold stops being our lecturer, I'll set off fireworks at the school gate to see him off!" Her tone carried a hint of mischievous joy.

Justin actually felt a bit sorry for Leopold. After all, dealing with a troublemaker like Agnes wasn't something just anyone could handle!

In the office.

Leopold placed the now-locked phone on the desk, "Unlock it."

Agnes stared at her phone, her eyes darting around. She reached out to grab it, but he caught her wrist. "If you don't unlock it, I'll have to find other ways to persuade you," he said with a playful glint in his eyes.

What did that mean?

It wouldn't be anything good anyway. Agnes forced a smile, "Alright."

Leopold released her hand, and the phone slid into her palm. She immediately clutched the phone and tried to run out.

Leopold's voice lazily sounded from behind, "Check your phone first, then decide if you want to run."

What did he mean?

Agnes stopped, unlocked her phone, and saw two new messages in her text interface.

The "I" she had typed earlier had been deleted and replaced with [I have a husband to tutor me; that's enough.]

[Agnes, you must be joking. How could you be married? Honestly, a girl like you, most people wouldn't dare to marry!] This message made Agnes's face flush, but she forced herself to keep reading.

[So my husband is not most people.]

Michael Wright didn't reply this time.

So, was the last message from Leopold? When did he send it? How did she not know at all?

She guessed Leopold had sent the message during class.

Agnes realized her temper had improved significantly. At this moment, she didn't even rush to punch Leopold! Of course, she couldn't beat him anyway.

After reading the messages, she didn't turn around. Behind her, Leopold lit a cigarette and softly said, "Lover?"
