Chapter 15
Justin picked out the red dress for her just to flex on Facebook. He sneakily snapped a few pics of Agnes and grinned like a Cheshire cat.
"Agnes, if we weren't just friends, I'd totally be all over you! But girl, you need some padding for those tiny boobs! They don't match your figure at all!" Justin chuckled, eyes twinkling mischievously.
Agnes clenched her teeth, eyes wide, ready to kick him. Just then, a cold voice cut through the air, "Spirit's standards have dropped, huh?"
The managers and sales assistants, who had been all smiles, froze at Leopold's words. What was he implying? Who was he talking about?
Agnes didn't need to turn around; she knew that voice all too well.
She took a few deep breaths, deciding to ignore Leopold.
She told the now-nervous Justin, "Get me another one. This one shows too much back." Her arms felt bare, with just two bows on her shoulders.
Before Justin could respond, that magnetic voice chimed in again, "Since when did you get so old-fashioned? This dress is revealing? Are you truly conservative or just pretending?"
He let go of Ella, signaling the manager and sales assistants to help her pick a dress while he lounged on the sofa.
Ella shot a disdainful look at Agnes, who was now in Leopold's crosshairs, and strutted over to the VIP dress section.
Agnes hiked up her skirt and stormed over to Leopold, eyes blazing, "Leopold, have you lost your mind? What did I do to piss you off? Let me tell you, that video was a setup. You really think I'd fall for you? Keep dreaming!"
Perfect timing to clear things up so when they divorced, she'd have a solid argument.
Leopold's face darkened instantly. The manager wondered if Leopold was about to kick Agnes out when Justin, without a word, dragged her to the checkout counter.
Justin's motto: avoid people you couldn't afford to piss off.
"From now on, this woman is banned from this store!" Leopold's voice boomed behind them.
Agnes was livid. She couldn't wait to divorce him. She shook off Justin's hand and marched back to Leopold.
"Leopold! Let me tell you..." Her words were cut off as Justin dragged her to the checkout counter again.
Justin tossed a card, "This one, check out!"
"Ma'am, aren't you going to do your makeup?" They were at a high-end styling store that offered dress, makeup, and styling services.
Justin, holding onto a struggling Agnes, shook his head, "Just check out already!"
He had a gut feeling that if they didn't leave soon, Agnes and Leopold would definitely throw down!
He couldn't just stand by and watch Agnes get herself into more trouble!
In the Mercedes, Justin, panting heavily, let go of Agnes, locked the car door, and slumped over the steering wheel, gasping for air. "Let me out, Justin, I'm telling you, I need to divorce him today! Marrying Leopold was the worst luck ever!"
As Agnes finished, the car fell silent. Justin stared at the furious Agnes in shock, speechless.
Thinking about not having the marriage document to prove it, Agnes's fire dimmed a bit. She leaned back in her seat and muttered, "I'm not lying. I got married a while ago. The guy is Leopold, but it's just on paper. I've been wanting a divorce, but Leopold..."
"Agnes, just stop. I get it." Justin rolled his eyes.
Agnes thought he finally believed her and lit up, "I didn't mean to keep our marriage a secret from you, it's just that..."
"Alright, I'm heading out to book the best shrink for you. No, scratch that, you need the head of the hospital. Don't worry, Agnes, even if you're totally nuts, I won't give up on you!" Justin whipped out his phone, opened the map, and set the destination to a psychiatric hospital.
Agnes snatched Justin's phone, set it aside, and rubbed her forehead, speechless. She knew no one would believe her!
After what felt like forever, she finally muttered, "Forget it, just take me to the banquet."
At a red light, Justin kept giving her these suspicious side-eyes before asking, "You good now?" Was Agnes's craziness on and off?
"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, sounding defeated.
The Perez Group's anniversary bash was on the Ocean Liner, a massive cruise ship docked at the eastern edge of Lumina City.
This swanky cruise ship, worth hundreds of millions, was the go-to spot for big-time parties.
Stepping out of the car, Agnes eyed the brightly lit cruise ship and tried to tie her messy hair into a bun. But her hair was too smooth, and after a few failed attempts, she got frustrated, "I said I wanted to cut my hair last time, but Clara dragged me out of the salon. I really envy girls with short hair!"
Justin chuckled, pulled out a formal gray suit from the back seat, put it on, and grabbed the hair tie from Agnes. He propped his chin with one hand and looked her over, "If you can't manage it, just leave it down. It looks good like this too."
Even though Agnes was a tomboy, she was still a beautiful woman who took care of herself.
For instance, she never used random shampoos and conditioners, so she had great hair.
However, her skin wasn't perfect, thanks to her martial arts training, but she was so stunning it didn't matter.
The dress didn't quite match her long hair, but she was still so gorgeous.
"But don't you have a ton of lipsticks? Come on, at least put on some lipstick." Justin thought the red dress would pop with a bit of makeup.
Agnes dug through her bag, pulled out a red lipstick that matched her dress, and applied a layer.
"Alright! You look amazing; let's go!" Justin tossed her backpack into the car and handed her a pair of high heels he had bought.
After she changed her shoes, he offered his arm to Agnes.
Agnes naturally took his arm and, in her black high heels, boarded the cruise ship.
The deck and the cabin hall were decked out in luxury, and the place was already buzzing with people. Agnes wasn't used to these kinds of parties, so she didn't know anyone.
As soon as Justin got on the ship, he led her to the food area and then ditched her to flirt with girls.
