Chapter 52
She turned to face the smoking Leopold, "So, are you gonna agree to the divorce or what?"
Leopold leaned back in his chair, flicked the ash off his cigarette, and after a moment, asked, "Do you really like him that much?"
He remembered she had mentioned she liked someone before, probably the guy who was messaging her.
Agnes instinctively shook her head but then nodded, "Yeah, I like him a lot." Truth was, that feeling had faded a long time ago. She wasn't about to keep pining for Michael when the Wright family didn't accept her at all.
Right now, telling Leopold she liked Michael was just a way to get him to agree to the divorce.
"Great, I love a challenge." Leopold smirked, "I'll make sure he's out of your heart for good!"
Agnes stayed quiet.
Just as she was about to leave, Dennis walked up, "Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville has already booked movie tickets and invites you to watch a movie tonight."
The phone screen was practically in her face, showing the title, which was clearly from a horror movie.
Agnes stayed quiet.
She wanted to leave but took a couple of steps back and returned to the office. "I won't text him again!"
Leopold stood up, satisfied, and walked towards her, "Wait for me at home tonight!"
Before she knew it, she was in his arms.
Her hand pressed against his chest, but before she could say anything, his lips were already on hers. 'Oh my God! Leopold must have been a kissing bandit in his past life!'
VIP Room at Wonderhaven Private Club in Lumina City
Leopold lounged lazily on the sofa, his deep gaze on the wine in his hand.
Two equally distinguished men sat across from him. Clifford, bored with the conversation, got up to play golf.
Leroy Smith, after listening to Leopold's complaints, was shocked and speechless until Leopold nudged him with his toe, snapping him back to reality. "A rebellious girl six years younger than you. I gotta say, Leopold, you're playing a risky game. I've never heard you mention any lover before, and now you bring up someone six years younger with such a fiery personality."
Leopold shot him a cold glance, "Cut the crap!"
"Alright!" Leroy got serious, "Leopold, you have everything, especially money, so just give her a lot of money!"
He had supported Agnes for three years, but she only wanted a divorce without any property, even wanting to repay the previous expenses. The last time he gave her a card, if he hadn't threatened her, she would have used a thousand dollars borrowed rather than his money.
"She doesn't care," Leopold said flatly.
Hearing his words, Leroy admired this unseen woman, "Then just sleep with her! You're a man of both looks and power, a perfect catch."
Everyone knew the number of women wanting to marry Leopold could fill an ocean.
Despite the hard truth, Leopold stated plainly, "She cares even less about that!"
He made a move, trying to entice her, but she remained indifferent.
In the end, he concluded that she really wasn't interested in him.
Leroy almost choked on his wine and weakly suggested, "How about letting me take a shot at this rare woman?"
"Don't mess with my wife!" Leopold snapped.
Leroy suddenly realized, "So she's from the Tudor family." Justin seemed to have a good friend from the Tudor family, too. Could it be the same person?
He vaguely remembered the woman's name, "Agnes Tudor?"
Leopold glanced at him, which was a tacit acknowledgment.
"Lumina City is really small. A woman who can be just friends with my brother. Let me think, Leopold, I think I understand your feelings now." Leroy's half-brother Justin carried on the Smith family's long-standing tradition of being a playboy, and his speed of changing girlfriends was astonishing.
Leopold lightly pressed his temples. No matter how troublesome Agnes was, divorce was not an option he considered.
"At least there's one thing. Although she often causes trouble, she doesn't smoke or hang out with unsavory people." He paused slightly and added, "Except for your brother."
So, in Leopold's eyes, Justin was one of those unsavory people?
Leroy stifled a laugh, "There's some truth to that. A playboy is bound to have some morally questionable friends around; it's normal."
Clifford returned from playing golf and interjected, "Next month is Lydia's eighteenth birthday. Where do you plan to celebrate her coming-of-age ceremony?"
Lydia Fisher was a girl Clifford and Leopold had jointly raised for five years, and Leroy and Ethan also adored the pure and lovely Lydia.
Mentioning Lydia's coming-of-age ceremony, Leroy immediately suggested, "Since it's Lydia's big day, it should be grand. We could go to her favorite island and throw an all-night party."
Leopold thought for a moment and responded, "Alright, she likes that island in Quivera City, right? I'll buy it, and you handle the rest of the details."
Leroy clicked his tongue in amazement, exaggeratingly exclaiming, "That island must cost tens of millions of dollars! If I were a woman, I'd definitely fight to marry you. After all, having you means having the whole world!"
