Chapter 83

Clara almost spit out her coffee, coughing like crazy before she could breathe again. "Agnes, did you seriously slap Mr. Neville?"

Agnes nodded. He deserved it, and honestly, a slap was getting off easy!

Bella covered her face, knowing Agnes had a temper, but she never thought she'd actually slap Leopold. "Agnes, you're fearless!" Leopold was a global CEO, the richest guy on the planet! And Agnes had the guts to slap him.

Agnes stood tall and added, "And that wasn't even the first time! Remember that dinner party with Justin? I almost kicked his penis!" Thinking back, Agnes realized she might've gone a bit overboard that time.

Bella and Clara went quiet.

Bella patted her on the shoulder, impressed. "Agnes, trust me. Mr. Neville really loves you. Cherish him!"

Clara patted her other shoulder. "Yeah, you need to sort things out with Mr. Neville. Go home, Agnes!"

Agnes stayed silent.

She didn't want to go home now, and she definitely wasn't planning to go home tonight.

Clara got called away by Jeremy, and Bella stuck around with Agnes until nine before heading back to campus.

The taxi pulled up at the campus gate, and groups of students were trickling back. The dorms closed at ten, and couples were saying their reluctant goodbyes near the girls' dorm.

Just as she stepped onto the dorm stairs, Agnes's phone rang.

She pulled out her phone, and the caller ID made her pause.

Bella looked back, curious. "Who is it? Why aren't you answering?"

Agnes hesitated for a second, then hung up and linked arms with Bella. "It's no one important. Let's go inside."

Her phone kept ringing, and Bella was about to lose it. "Agnes, are you just gonna let it ring forever?"

The ringing stopped suddenly, replaced by a text notification. Seeing the message, Agnes gritted her teeth.

Leopold: [I'm at the campus gate. If you're not here in five minutes, I'm coming to the dorm myself.]

Agnes handed her stuff to Bella. "I need to step out for a bit."

Bella took her things, puzzled, and seeing Agnes's expression, quickly grabbed her. "Agnes, who is it? Why the rush? I'll come with you."

"It's Leopold," Agnes said.

Bella was stunned for a moment, then waved her off. "You better hurry. Don't keep Mr. Neville waiting. You two are married; you can work it out. I won't see you off."

Before Bella finished talking, Agnes was already halfway down the steps.

Agnes ran to the campus gate and saw that familiar car. It had already caught a lot of attention, especially from some curious girls.

Agnes sighed in relief, pulled her hat down low, walked around to the other side of the car, and got in the back seat.

Leopold, who had been watching her since she appeared at the gate, started the car once she was seated and drove off.

As they headed towards the villa district, Agnes couldn't help but say, "Mr. Neville, if you have something to say, say it quick. Otherwise, I'll have to grab a taxi back later."

Agnes's biggest strength and weakness was her bluntness, with clear likes and dislikes. Now that she had finally spoken, her tone was still stiff.

"You won't need to take a taxi anymore. I'll get you a car," Leopold said.

"Is the car the point? Wasting time and energy is the problem, okay?" Agnes snapped. "No need. Thanks for the offer, Mr. Neville, but..." She trailed off, thinking, 'Why am I even explaining this?' She continued, "If there's nothing else, just drop me off here."

"I'll say it again: you're not staying in the dorm anymore," Leopold insisted.

"Why should I listen to you? You want me to learn yoga and dance, so I have to give up martial arts? Why?" she shot back.

"Because you're my wife!" Leopold said firmly.

"Your wife? Hah, there are plenty of people lining up to be your wife. How about I be generous and we get a divorce? How's that?" she retorted.

The sharp sound of brakes cut through the night, making Agnes's heart race.

Swallowing hard, Agnes regretted her words. Pissing off someone while they were driving was a bad idea. How dangerous was that? Couldn't she wait until the car stopped to say it?

The car slowly pulled over, and Leopold was silent for a moment. He unbuckled his seatbelt, grabbed a shopping bag from the passenger seat, opened the door, and got out.

He then opened the rear door next to Agnes and got in himself.

With him in the seat, Agnes had to scoot over to keep some distance.

Several fancy shopping bags fell into her lap. She looked down and saw they were the lipsticks Leopold had picked out for her in the morning. Even the set Lydia had opened was repurchased and lay intact in her lap.

Were these new lipsticks, or had he specifically retrieved them from Lydia?

Leopold's next words answered her question. "Besides the set Lydia opened, I got all the others back. For the one she opened, I picked a new one for you."

Agnes held the lipstick bag in her hand, silent for a long time.

At that moment, she didn't know whether to take the opportunity to compromise or stick to her stance. After all, in his eyes, she was just a woman who slept around.

Suddenly, he leaned forward, his large hand gently brushing the back of her head, making her look directly into his eyes. He apologized, "I'm sorry for what happened today." He admitted that his words had been too hurtful.

He had come back to the villa early, only to find she wasn't there. From Eden, he learned she wouldn't be back tonight. At that moment, he felt an inexplicable emptiness.

Before he knew it, he had driven to her school gate. He called Agnes a dozen times, but no one answered, so he had to use a tough attitude to get her to show up.

But he really wanted to ask Agnes why their relationship couldn't be made public. Why did she have to be so secretive before getting in the car, afraid others would know about it?

Thinking of this, he simply took off her hat, revealing her playful bun hairstyle. Seeing her loose strands of hair, he carefully tidied them up.

Agnes stared blankly at Leopold in front of her. Proud as he was, he actually apologized to her.

Words stuck in her throat; she couldn't utter a single word, nor did she know how to respond.

Leopold's kiss lightly landed on her nose, and he softly said, "Be nice; don't say things that make me sad. Come home with me."

Did he mean divorce?
