Chapter 20

Kevin paused on the other end and, out of nowhere, asked, "Mrs. Neville, where you at now?" As expected, she actually went to Beacon City.

"I'm in Beacon City, just got off the plane. It's freezing!" Agnes shivered.

Back home, it was still fall, but here it was already below freezing.

Kevin was speechless. Agnes really went to Beacon City. "Mrs. Neville, grab a coffee or something. I'll send someone to get you." As long as Agnes and Leopold aren't divorced, she's still his wife and deserves the royal treatment.

She wanted to say no, but seeing the snow outside, Agnes headed to a coffee shop.

Agnes stood stunned in the Intensive Care Unit, gazing at the frail Billy Neville, who lay there connected to an array of medical tubes.

"What happened to Grandpa?" she softly asked the driver who picked her up.

The driver replied, "Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville's health has been bad for years. He got really sick three years ago and has been in a coma since."

'Poor Grandpa.' Agnes looked sadly at Billy. He should be enjoying his golden years with his grandkids, not stuck in the ICU.

After leaving the hospital, Agnes caught a snowflake on her hand, pulling it back when it got too cold. She took out her phone and messaged Leopold, [Why didn't you tell me about Grandpa's condition earlier?] She'd made an unnecessary trip.

But thinking Billy was her grandpa now too, Agnes asked the driver, "Who usually takes care of Grandpa?"

"There are dedicated caregivers, and Mr. Neville and Mrs. Jenna Neville visit often."

Agnes asked a few questions before leaving the hospital.

Kevin had set her up at one of Leopold's places in Beacon City. Only after getting there did she realize it was the villa where Leopold stayed the most.

Kevin was really thoughtful, but sadly, she and Leopold were meant to be together but couldn't love each other.

After a ten-hour flight and straight to the hospital, Agnes was exhausted.

But knowing it was Leopold's room and bed, she forced herself to shower before crashing.

Meanwhile, Leopold put down the document he finished reading, glanced at his phone, and replied, [You didn't ask.]

When he got the message from his so-called wife yesterday, asking him to let Grace go, Leopold was speechless. She wanted the divorce, so why did it sound like he was begging her? And she dared to set conditions?

Leopold put away his phone and asked Kevin, "What's her situation in Beacon City now?"

Kevin was momentarily stunned, then got it. "Mrs. Neville went to the villa on Fantasy Lane after visiting Mr. Billy Neville. She's resting there now."

"Okay, when's she coming back?" Leopold asked.

"I didn't ask. Mrs. Neville hasn't booked a ticket yet," Kevin said.

"Push all my meetings tomorrow and get me a ticket to Beacon City," Leopold said. He needed to see his grandpa and talk divorce face-to-face.

"Got it, Mr. Neville!" Kevin replied.

Agnes had a rough time getting to Beacon City and wanted to chill a bit, but then Grace texted her that Marissa had a car accident.

She called Jeffrey to check on Marissa, and luckily, it wasn't too bad. Still worried, she packed up and headed straight to the airport.

So, just as she boarded the plane back home, Leopold landed in Beacon City, and they missed each other, missing the chance to hash out the divorce in person.

Leopold got back from Beacon City six days later and had to rush to Wonderhaven Private Club to meet a big client, no time to rest.

As night fell, his Bentley cruised down the wide road.

It was rush hour, and traffic was a mess at the intersection. Leopold rolled down the window, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag to chill out.

The car got stuck near a small alley, where a group of seven dudes had a woman cornered against a wall.

When he saw the woman's face, Leopold exhaled a puff of smoke, hiding a flicker of emotion.

The scuffle didn't last long. As one guy raised his hand, Agnes kicked him before he could make a move.

Kevin was getting antsy with the traffic, worried Leopold might blow a fuse, and his eyes started to wander.

Then Kevin exclaimed, "Mr. Neville, isn't that Agnes?" Agnes was fighting seven guys. It was unbelievable.

Leopold stubbed out his cigarette and exhaled the last puff, "Shut up!" He wasn't blind; he could see Agnes was in a brawl.

Kevin opened the car door to get out, but Leopold's cold voice stopped him, "If you get out, don't come back!"

Kevin froze. "But..."

Leopold ignored him. If Agnes, who could take on eight or nine well-trained security guards, lost to seven thugs, then he had indeed overestimated her abilities.

Lighting another cigarette, Leopold smirked, "Drive slow. I'll walk there."

Wonderhaven Private Club wasn't far. Driving might mean a detour, but walking was the quickest route.

In the alley, Agnes, who had just scared off the thugs, was bent over, hands on her knees, catching her breath.

She had just come here to use the restroom and ran into this gang. This area was near the high-end Wonderhaven Private Club, where security was usually tight, which was why Clara chose to sing on the streets nearby.

So these thugs must have been sent by someone. Unfortunately, she didn't catch a single one; they all bolted.

Just then, she heard steady footsteps behind her. Agnes, still on edge from the fight, tensed up. As the person got closer, she quickly turned to attack.

But it didn't go as planned. She barely turned around when the person dodged behind her.

Having practiced martial arts for nearly ten years, Agnes could tell from this move that the person behind her was trained.

Whether it was the security guards on the cruise ship or the thugs just now, the person behind her could effortlessly take them all down. However, she would need to go all out just to subdue them.
