Chapter 37

Back in the day, when Agnes couldn't make it back to the villa, she'd crash at the dorm.

But then Leopold laid down the law and banned her from staying there, so now she had to wait it out.

She gently ran her fingers through Clara's long hair and sighed, "Clara, I miss you too. I'll be back at the dorm soon." She kissed Clara's little hand with a smile.

Jeremy immediately started whining, "Agnes! Seriously, you're not a lesbian, are you? There are so many hot guys in our class, don't miss out!"

She rolled her eyes at Jeremy's dramatics and grinned, "Don't worry, I won't miss out!"

"Haha!" Everyone cracked up at her playful, exaggerated expression.

The class bell rang, and everyone scrambled back to their seats. Andrew walked in.

He glanced at the back row, where Agnes looked pretty lively.

"Alright, let's get started," he said.

Even though Agnes still had that mischievous streak, it was clear she was causing less trouble lately.

For days, the Office of Student Affairs hadn't mentioned her name in any announcements, and her classmates were starting to get used to it.

But it was hard for Agnes to stay that way.

Just when everyone, except Leopold, thought Agnes finally became a good student, Lola called her to the Office of Student Affairs again.

She'd skipped classes for an entire week.

But this time, Lola seemed unusually chill, just giving her a light scolding before letting her go.

Agnes was still confused when something big happened at school!

She stared at the school's Facebook page in shock. A new post announced that Leopold was coming to their school to give a lecture.

"Agnes, did you see that? Leopold's coming to our school as a lecturer!" Bella waved her phone excitedly, snapping Agnes out of her daze.

Agnes nodded absentmindedly. Why did she have a bad feeling about this?

A sudden fear gripped her. She didn't even know what she was scared of, but she was just scared.

No way, she had to take a leave of absence. As long as Leopold was lecturing, she was out.

Outside the principal's office.

Agnes stared hard at the brown wooden door, almost willing it to open. Why did a leave of more than two days need Ethan's approval?

Why didn't the school have this rule before?

Should she just skip class or go in and ask Ethan for leave?

After another two minutes of thinking, Agnes knocked on the office door.

She'd rather face Ethan than deal with Leopold's terrifying glare when he found out she was skipping class.

"Come in." Ethan had been expecting her.

"Mr. Perez!" She opened the door, and inside, Ethan had just finished brewing tea. The room smelled faintly of tea. Seeing her, he pointed to the seat opposite the tea table, "Agnes, sit down and try the tea Leopold sent me."

Why was she hearing Leopold's name everywhere?

And was Ethan this nice to everyone?

Agnes took a few steps inside but didn't sit down. She wasn't here to drink tea; she was here to ask for leave. "Mr. Perez."

"I heard this tea was a gift from the President of Zorvania to Leopold. It's super rare, Agnes, you gotta try it." Ethan placed a cup of very light-colored tea in front of her. Agnes couldn't really say no, so she sat down.

She took a small sip, and the fragrance filled her mouth, making her feel all relaxed.

Even someone like her, who didn't know squat about tea, could tell this stuff was top-notch.

After she finished one cup, Ethan poured her another. "If you like it, take some with you when you leave."

"No, thank you, Mr. Perez. I'm actually here to ask for leave." If she didn't get to the point soon, Ethan would drive her nuts.

Ethan noticed her impatience and smiled slightly, his eyes twinkling with what seemed like affection.

"The day after tomorrow, Leopold will be giving a lecture. He's really good. Listening to him will be beneficial for you. If there's nothing urgent, don't take leave." Ethan was so polite and gentle, it was hard for Agnes to get mad.

"I don't want to listen to his lecture. I want to take a week off." Agnes didn't want to beat around the bush and just laid it out there.

Ethan paused with the kettle in his hand and looked at her curiously. "So, you're asking for a week off just to avoid his lecture?" Did he hear that right?

Agnes nodded.

Ethan laughed out loud. It was the first time he'd seen someone dislike Leopold so much. Agnes was really like Nicole Perez.

"Alright." His quick agreement left Agnes momentarily stunned. "So, you're agreeing?"

Ethan lifted his eyes and glanced at her. "If I don't approve your leave, will you still come to class?"

Ethan was a bit dangerous. How did he know her so well?

Before coming in, she had already decided that even if Ethan didn't approve her leave, she would skip class!

ZL Group.

Dennis walked into the CEO's office with a file folder. "Mr. Neville, here's the info you asked for."

Leopold put down his work, opened the file folder, and reviewed all the information. Compared to the single page Kevin had submitted, Dennis had provided over five pages.

Finally, he asked Dennis, "How did she meet Kevin?"

"According to the investigation, it was when Mrs. Neville came to see you. After that, they had no further contact, either professionally or personally," Dennis said.

Leopold lit a cigarette. "What's her relationship with Justin?"

His gaze fell on Agnes's likes and weaknesses, a specific item he had instructed to be investigated. Agnes was afraid of movies rated 4D or higher, snakes, and the dark. She appeared brave on the surface, but she had so many fears! It turned out Agnes was still a little girl at heart.

Dennis recalled the classmates he had questioned and couldn't help but laugh. They all firmly answered, "We're just friends."

"Alright, I understand. You may go," Leopold said.

"Yes, Mr. Neville!" Dennis said.

As Dennis turned to leave, he heard Leopold say, "I don't want to see Kevin for the next two years."

Dennis silently felt sorry for Kevin.

Today was Leopold's first day lecturing at the School of Economics and Management. After his workout, shower, and breakfast, he still hadn't seen Agnes.

"Robert, where is she?" Leopold asked.

Robert knew exactly who he was asking about and calmly replied, "Mrs. Neville has taken a week off from school and left early this morning to catch a flight."
