Chapter 46
Leopold reacted faster, his long arm encircling Agnes's waist steadily, pulling her into his embrace.
She was a bit annoyed and was about to glare at him, but found that their proximity and intimate posture caused their lips to accidentally touch when she looked up.
Leopold hadn't expected this either, but after a brief pause, he deepened the accidental kiss without hesitation.
Agnes initially wanted to refuse, but remembering what he said on the playground, she gritted her teeth, pushed hard, and pinned Leopold down on the sofa.
A look of disbelief flashed in Leopold's eyes.
Had he really been pushed down by Agnes?
Looking at her pressing down on him, he immediately understood her intention but was unwilling to give her the chance. He grabbed her hand that was on his collar, "Sit up and continue studying!"
Agnes's eyes widened as she looked at the now calm Leopold, her pride taking a hit.
Could it be true, as the rumors at school said, that aside from her basic female features and a somewhat pretty face, she was like a man in every other way, lacking any feminine charm?
Otherwise, why did her initiative was rejected?
So, did Leopold have no feelings for her because of what they said on the playground today?
Agnes felt a mix of emotions, for the first time feeling dissatisfied with her own personality.
For the rest of the time, she was unusually quiet. Leopold taught seriously, and she seemed to be focused. But only she knew what she was really thinking.
An hour later, Leopold closed the book, "That's it for today."
Agnes nodded, absentmindedly packing her books.
Just as the study door was opened, Leopold called her back. She turned around, puzzled.
Leopold took his wallet out of his pocket, opened it, and handed her two cards, "One is a debit card loaded with twenty million dollars. The other is a limitless credit card. Use the debit card however you need."
The amount on the debit card was equivalent to the annual profit of one of his branch companies, plenty for her needs.
Agnes's eyes widened, and her jaw dropped!
"I don't want it." Her first reaction was to refuse, and there were many reasons to reject these two cards.
He understood her thoughts. Although he didn't know what Agnes would become in the future, he knew that she wasn't a gold digger and had a pure and noble heart. "Before we are officially divorced, you are still my wife, and these two cards naturally belong to you."
It took Agnes two minutes to find her voice and clear her thoughts, "Mr. Neville, we are preparing for a divorce. I don't need to owe you any favors. I am twenty-two years old and capable of supporting myself."
To be honest, during her time with Leopold, she had wavered in her thoughts about divorce, but she still believed that if they could divorce, they should.
Agnes's eyes were firm, and he could feel her determination.
Who was Leopold? He was the one in control. "Are you so eager to draw a line with me?" he said as he stuffed the two cards into her hand, not allowing her to refuse.
"Yes, Mr. Neville, I don't understand why you insist on this marriage, but once I decide, I never change!" she said.
Agnes might be stubborn and domineering, but she forgot that the man standing opposite her, Leopold, was ten times more stubborn and domineering than she was.
"My decision won't change either. As for the cards, if you don't use them, I think I don't need to spell out the consequences."
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, Agnes glared at him with a face full of anger, gritting her teeth, "Leopold, do you only know how to threaten people? Can't you find another way to convince someone?"
Leopold was truly infuriating!
He repeated her words, "Another way? Sure, how about making you unable to get out of bed for three days?"
Agnes was so angry she couldn't speak for a while, "I won't give you the chance!"
"No problem, I won't give you the chance to divorce either!" he said.
Agnes instantly deflated, "I'm going to sleep!" If she couldn't provoke him, she could at least avoid him, right?
As she was about to leave, Leopold spoke again, "Return the money you borrowed from your classmate, and you don't need to look for a job. Because you won't have time to work from now on."
She couldn't help but complain, "You eavesdropped on my phone call!"
Agnes really wanted to kick his ass; how could Leopold be so infuriating? If she wasn't sure she couldn't beat him, she would definitely rush over and hit him!
"Watch your words. What do you mean eavesdrop? I was just walking by your room, and the door was open, so I couldn't help but hear!"
'Damn it!' Agnes took a deep breath, then another.
'Calm down, calm down!' She forced a smile, "Mr. Neville, I'll give you twenty thousand dollars. Will you agree to the divorce?"
Leopold was silent.
A mere twenty thousand dollars meant nothing to Leopold. Agnes increased the amount, "Two hundred thousand dollars!"
Leopold remained silent.
She gritted her teeth, "Two million dollars!"
Leopold was still as silent as a mountain.
"Ten million dollars!" She didn't believe she couldn't earn ten million dollars in her lifetime!
Leopold worried that she might burst a blood vessel, said calmly, "Come talk to me when you can earn ten million dollars." He realized making that kind of money was easy for him, but for Agnes, it was a different story.
"Leopold, you're ruthless!" Agnes said, storming out of the study.
She slammed the door hard, expressing her displeasure.
Back in her bedroom, Agnes yanked all the casual clothes out of her closet and threw them into a corner. Hands on her hips, she glared at the empty wardrobe, still fuming, and dialed Bella's number, "Come shopping with me tomorrow. Clothes, makeup, jewelry, I want them all!"
Leopold wanted her to spend money. No problem, who couldn't spend money? Earning money was as hard as scaling a mountain, but spending money was as effortless as breathing.
Also, didn't he say that if she could conquer him, he would give her freedom?
The next morning, Agnes deliberately wore a pink lace dress she got for her birthday and stepped into everyone's view.
Thinking about Leopold's expression when he saw her in the morning, Agnes couldn't help but want to laugh.
Although he remained indifferent, his eyes clearly showed a bit of surprise and amazement. She even deliberately spun in front of him, smugly asking, "Leopold, do I look pretty?"
