Chapter 167
Michael's direct question caught the usually sharp Kevin off guard. "Mr. Wright, what do you mean?"
"If five million dollars isn't enough, how about ten million? I can tell, Kevin, that you don't truly love Agnes. I'm desperate to win her back. Don't you think helping others find happiness is a gentleman's duty?" Michael added.
In fact, Kevin didn't love Agnes, and he couldn't even think of having any improper thoughts about her. "Mr. Wright, you misunderstand."
Michael, thinking the refusal was due to insufficient money, asked, "Is it not enough money, or is there another reason? If you're worried about finding the right person in the future, I'll help you until you're satisfied."
Kevin wanted to curse, wondering when Michael became so foolish. "Mr. Wright, this is inappropriate. Although I'm just an assistant, I'm not at the point where I can be bought with money. Besides, I'm not interested in your ten million dollars either. Mr. Wright, why not spend this time on Ms. Simpson? It's already late, you should rest early. Good night."
With that, Kevin decisively hung up.
The news of Michael and the heiress of the Simpson Family upcoming engagement had already spread throughout Lumina City.
After being completely rejected, Michael heavily slammed his phone on the table. He rubbed his face and sighed deeply, wondering how to win back Agnes.
The next morning, Leopold went to the company to hand over his work, while Agnes slept in and only started packing her luggage after a late breakfast.
Around noon, the sound of a car came from the estate. Agnes, who had been waiting for a while, quickly jumped out of bed and ran to the balcony. Seeing it was Leopold's car, she waved excitedly. Kevin got out first and then opened the back door for Leopold, who looked in Agnes' direction.
Agnes shouted excitedly, "Leopold!"
Leopold spread his arms, and Agnes excitedly ran towards him. From the room, through the hallway, down the stairs, and into the living room, she ran all the way into Leopold's waiting embrace.
Leopold caught Agnes steadily. "Why are you so happy? Because we're going to Beacon City soon?"
Agnes shook her head. "No."
She had been bored out of her mind these past few days, and now seeing Leopold, she almost wanted to cling to him.
Just as Agnes was about to say something, a cheerful voice sounded behind her. "Agnes, have you packed your luggage?"
Agnes peeked out from Leopold's embrace and saw Lydia sitting in the car.
They were taking Lydia with them to Beacon City for New Year's.
Agnes nodded, and just then, a servant brought out her luggage.
Agnes knew it wasn't good to whisper in front of others, but she couldn't help but tiptoe and whisper in Leopold's ear, "I want to ride in another car with you, just the two of us in the back. Would you?"
Leopold's deep eyes locked onto her. He saw through her little thoughts immediately, but he had to admit, he liked the deliberately created intimate atmosphere.
He called out to Kevin, "You drive first, take Lydia."
Kevin, though puzzled, nodded in agreement. "Okay, Mr. Neville."
Kevin started the car, and Lydia poked her head out of the window. "Leopold, aren't you getting in?"
Leopold nodded slightly. "You go first, we'll follow shortly."
As the car drove away, Leopold called the driver. Soon, another low-key luxury car drove out of the garage and stopped in front of them.
Leopold helped Agnes into the car and then got in himself.
As the car left the estate, Agnes leaned on Leopold's shoulder and began asking a series of questions, "Is Grandpa still not awake? Will Grandma and your parents like me? Who lives at home? Where will we stay? Will you stay with me there?"
Leopold, helpless but patient, answered her questions, "Grandpa is improving but still not awake. My families will all like you. We will stay at the estate in Beacon City, and I will try to be with you every day."
Then, Leopold briefly introduced the family members and added, "Dad has a bad temper. It's best not to meet him alone. Tell me if anything happens, and I'll handle it."
"Okay." Agnes was curious, wondering if Gerald's temper was worse than Leopold's.
At the airport, Lydia had already gone inside, and only Kevin was waiting at the check-in counter. After completing the check-in, Kevin said goodbye, "Happy holidays to Mr. and Mrs. Neville! Come back soon!"
"You're not coming?" Agnes had always thought Kevin was always with them. Now that Leopold was suddenly without him, she felt a bit uneasy.
Kevin, touched, looked at Agnes and joked, "Agnes, my family is in Lumina City. There will be an assistant to receive you in Beacon City. We'll see each other next year! I'll miss you!"
"Agnes?" Leopold's cold voice sounded. "I didn't know you two were so close, Kevin. You even dare to use such a term?"
Kevin was speechless, not expecting Leopold's possessiveness to be so terrifying. He looked sympathetically at Agnes. "Mrs. Neville, I really feel for you."
Before Agnes could speak, Leopold asked, "What do you feel for her?"
Kevin cleverly replied, "I feel happy for Mrs. Neville having such a good husband! Mrs. Neville, right? Where else can you find a husband as good as Mr. Neville?"
Kevin wasn't stupid, and neither was Leopold. He said coldly, "I heard your family is looking for a match for you. I'll contact Mr. Wilson!"
Hearing Leopold even brought up Andrew, Kevin felt helpless. "Come on, it's the holidays. Do you have to be so harsh?"
Agnes looked at them in confusion and asked, "Which Mr. Wilson?"
Leopold pulled her into his arms and walked straight to the VIP lounge. "Andrew Wilson."
