Chapter 162
Perhaps after the breakup, Grace no longer needed to stay calm, and her voice in the argument even drowned out Ernest's.
After more than ten minutes, seeing Ernest becoming increasingly excessive and seemingly about to raise his hand to hit Grace, Agnes finally couldn't hold back.
She parked the car next to them. Grace saw the brand-new Cayman and was a bit puzzled. When she recognized Agnes getting out of the car, her eyes widened. "Agnes, whose car are you driving?"
Her expression was as if Agnes had stolen a car. Agnes helplessly ignored her and looked directly at Ernest, who used to be the company's vice president but now looked quite disheveled.
Before Agnes could speak, Ernest angrily approached the Porsche Cayman. "Hey, I've been looking for you for a long time. Since you're here today, let's settle this. Because of you, I lost my job. You owe me compensation!"
Agnes rolled her eyes. "What does your job loss have to do with me?"
"If Grace hadn't called me, if I hadn't had a conflict with you, would Mr. Neville have fired me directly?" Ernest shouted.
That night, Ernest was dismissed, and less than half a month later, Grace broke up with him
After saying that, Ernest kicked Agnes' car, leaving a footprint on the red Cayman.
Agnes was furious. This was the car her beloved Leopold had given her. The obvious footprint on it made her very uncomfortable.
Grace hurriedly pulled Ernest. "Hey, this is a top-of-the-line Cayman, worth nearly a million dollars! If you damage it, can you afford to pay for it with your current income?"
Ernest certainly knew it. He nonchalantly loosened his tie. "It's just a car. I can afford it."
Agnes flexed her wrist and then, before Ernest could react, grabbed his collar.
The previous experience had left Ernest with lingering fear. As soon as Agnes grabbed him, he started to scream in terror, "What are you doing? I'm warning you, don't do anything crazy!"
Agnes forcefully pulled Ernest to the car, pressing his face against the footprint and rubbing it back and forth until the footprint was cleaned off.
Grace watched in shock, grateful that she was Agnes' cousin and had never been treated like this.
After the footprint on the car was cleaned off, Agnes let go of Ernest's collar, throwing him aside, and only stopped after confirming that her car was undamaged.
Agnes waved her fist, threatening the disheveled Ernest who was getting up from the ground. "Touch my car again, and I'll teach you a lesson!"
The painful memory of the last time he was dealt with was still fresh. As soon as he heard Agnes' words, he quickly left the Lopez Villa front door.
At this moment, inside the Lopez Villa, only Marissa was there. When she saw Agnes and Grace coming in together, she quickly greeted them, "Agnes, why did you come over suddenly?"
Agnes changed her shoes and walked into the living room, politely greeting her, "Aunt, I'm going to Beacon City tomorrow, so I came to say goodbye to you and Uncle. Is he not here?"
"Yes, he's been busy with work lately. Why are you going to Beacon City?" Marissa called for the maid to bring fresh fruit.
Agnes had just sat down when hurried footsteps came from upstairs. Cherie excitedly ran down. "Agnes! I heard your voice, and it really is you!"
Cherie, wearing pajamas, rushed down from upstairs, hugged Agnes on the couch, and even kissed her on the cheek. "Agnes, I missed you so much. Did you come alone? Where's Mr. Neville ?"
The enthusiastic Cherie was pulled off Agnes by Marissa, and she immediately looked towards the door.
Agnes helplessly straightened her clothes. "Don't look, he's not here. He's working overtime at the company."
Cherie pouted in disappointment. "Alright, it's normal for Mr. Neville to be busy. Dad usually comes home late too, let alone Mr. Neville."
Grace, who was eating snacks, suddenly stopped and looked at Cherie in shock. "Who did you just say? Say it again."
Cherie blinked. "Mr. Neville, Grace, didn't you know? Agnes married him!"
Grace had thought about this possibility, but she always dismissed it as impossible.
Even hearing it now, she still found it hard to believe. Why would Leopold marry someone like Agnes?
Grace, stunned, ordered Cherie, "Cherie, are you confused? Take a break and come back when you're more awake!"
Grace was in shock, her mind repeating Cherie's words.
She felt like her chest was stuffed with a stone, making it hard to say a word.
Past memories flashed by like a movie: Agnes confessed her love for Leopold out loud in the grove, but Grace was expelled from school because of it. Agnes told her she was married, but she never took it seriously because she never believed anything Agnes said.
When she told Agnes she would marry better than her, Agnes replied that there was no need to compare, she had already lost.
And the day they went to Willow Creek, seeing Leopold sitting in the Emperor, everything seemed to make sense.
Grace suddenly screamed, her voice echoing through the entire villa, startling the other three women.
Agnes looked at Grace in shock, who screamed at her, "Agnes, why do you get to marry Leopold? Why? I want you to get a divorce."
Marissa knew Grace couldn't accept Agnes marrying Leopold. Seeing Grace like this, she was exhausted and didn't understand why she had raised Grace this way.
Grace, with red eyes, slumped on the couch, looking at Agnes and muttering, "Agnes, when you wore the princess dress Grandpa bought and ignored me with the other kids, I swore I would live better than you and marry better than you when I grew up!"
Marvin Tudor, who was Agnes' grandfather, had always doted on Agnes, constantly buying her beautiful clothes.
But Grace's grandfather favored her cousins and was indifferent to her. Every time Grace saw Marvin's affection for Agnes, she was consumed with jealousy.
