Chapter 74
By the time she finished getting ready, it was almost noon. After lunch, they hit the road to the seaside, then hopped on a helicopter and a ferry. After all those transfers, they finally made it to the island just as night was falling.
She sighed to herself. The world of the rich was something else. Why go all the way to a deserted island for a birthday party?
But the moment she stepped onto the island, it all made sense.
From the helicopter, the private island looked like a sparkling emerald in the turquoise sea.
Even without any extra decorations, the sea of flowers swaying in the breeze, the pristine beach, and the minimalist villas were already a stunning sight.
Lush tropical trees surrounded the peninsula, where the weather was always warm and spring-like.
After getting off, Leopold took off her coat and handed it to a nearby butler. Agnes casually tucked her hair behind her ear, and a voice whispered in her ear, "You should wear skirts more often; you look beautiful."
Was he complimenting her?
Agnes's cheeks warmed, and she pretended to be annoyed. "I asked you earlier, but you ignored me. I thought I looked terrible."
Leopold took off his jacket, leaving just a casual white shirt. He gently placed his large hand on the back of her head, ignoring everyone around them, and pulled her into his arms, leaving a light kiss on her lips. "You are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."
The straightforward compliment made Agnes blush, and she felt a bit awkward. She clutched the corner of his shirt with her left hand and gently pushed him away with her right. "There are so many people around. Don't do this."
Leopold ignored the onlookers and kept teasing Agnes. "So, it's okay when there are fewer people?"
Faced with such teasing, Agnes, at a loss, simply gave him a quick kiss. "Now, will you let me go?"
Leopold was amused by her and enjoyed teasing her even more. He held her waist more intimately. "No way!"
Seeing Agnes's displeased look, he added, "But I'll let you go for now. We'll continue this at home!"
Agnes breathed a sigh of relief, but remembering his meaningful words, her face flushed again.
"Agnes?" A gentle voice interrupted the moment between Leopold and Agnes.
Agnes turned around and saw Kelly in a pale yellow dress standing with Ethan not far away.
Ethan looked at Leopold and Agnes, the intimate couple, with a puzzled expression. "How did you two end up together?"
Surprised, Agnes greeted Ethan, "Mr. Perez, Kelly." At the same time, she instinctively drew back from Leopold, causing his face to darken.
Kelly smiled gently. "Agnes, I remember you had a big disagreement with Mr. Neville last time. How did you two become so close in just a few days? What happened exactly?"
She had noticed Ethan's confusion.
Agnes looked down, embarrassed and at a loss for words, unsure how to define her relationship with Leopold. Just as the situation became awkward, Leopold pulled her into his arms and declared forcefully, "She is my wife. Of course, we are close!"
Leopold didn't miss Ethan's previous concern for Agnes. After speaking, he shot Ethan a challenging look. He didn't get why Ethan was so interested in Agnes, but she was his, and he'd be the one to look after her, not some outsider.
Hearing this, both Ethan and Kelly were stunned. The usually composed Ethan looked visibly shocked, and Kelly's reaction was even more obvious.
As Leopold's best friend, Ethan knew he had gotten married three years ago, but he never expected the woman to be Agnes!
"Agnes, come over here," Ethan called out. He had planned to tell her some things later, but it seemed he needed to do it sooner. If Agnes were with anyone else, he would be at ease, but he couldn't be at ease with her marrying Leopold.
Agnes responded and was about to walk over when a force pulled her back. A deep male voice whispered in her ear, "Agnes, you have me now. You should learn to refuse when others beckon you casually."
Was Leopold's possessiveness too strong?
Agnes's face turned red. "Then come with me!" She couldn't refuse Ethan's invitation. After all, he had been very good to her.
"Alright, from now on, if anyone comes to you, call me, and I'll go with you," Leopold said.
Agnes scanned Leopold's face, searching for any hint of amusement, but he seemed very serious.
Kelly said softly, "Ethan just asked Agnes to come over for a moment, and you two are openly showing off your love. Mr. Neville, is this appropriate?"
Leopold held Agnes's hand and slowly walked toward Kelly and Ethan. He rarely showed a relaxed side, but he was joking with Kelly, saying, "When Ethan proposed to you in public - we were all treated to a display of your love!"
Mentioning that romantic past, Kelly's eyes sparkled with happiness, and Ethan responded with a gentle smile. Kelly and Ethan exchanged a loving glance, their eyes filled with endless sweetness.
Agnes looked at Kelly and Ethan with admiring eyes. They were the most loving couple she had ever seen.
Leopold noticed the emotion in her eyes and gently tightened his grip on her hand, silently promising, 'Agnes, I will make you the envy of others, not the one who envies them.'
However, before Ethan could speak, a slightly frivolous male voice came through behind them, "Isn't this Mr. Neville and Mr. Perez? Two big shots, I've heard so much about you!"
Agnes looked in the direction of the voice and saw two men standing not far away. One was dressed in a pure white suit and the other in black, forming a sharp contrast.
The man in the white suit was Justin's older brother, Leroy. Although Agnes wasn't very familiar with Leroy, she could still recognize him.
As for the one in the black suit, Agnes found him somewhat familiar, as if she had seen him on a TV show before. He was a colonel. In reality, he was even more handsome than on screen, and Agnes couldn't help but glance at him a few more times, feeling a slight ripple in her heart.
She hadn't expected today's birthday party to attract the four young heirs of Lumina City.
Seeing Agnes staring at Clifford, Leopold pulled her into his arms and, with a blank expression, ordered Clifford, "Clifford, this is my wife, Agnes Tudor. Introduce yourself to her!"
