Chapter 35

The kids in the classroom were quietly making fun of the pimple-faced boy who got beat up.

Grace didn't even bother to look his way, just kept her head down, focused on her textbook. The pimple-faced boy was boiling inside but had nowhere to vent his anger.

Afternoon classes were as sleepy as ever. Agnes rested her chin on her hand, thinking if the pimple-faced boy dared to snitch on her to the Office of Student Affairs, she'd just give him another beating!

When the bell rang, the school broadcast was playing the Beatles' "Let It Be." But then, the song cut off, and the sweet voice of the announcer came through, "Agnes from Class 22, please report to the Office of Student Affairs."

Even though she was used to hearing that voice, Agnes still felt a bit embarrassed as she got up and dragged Jeremy along to the Office of Student Affairs.

She brought Jeremy because the teachers thought he was a good kid. Every time she had him plead for her, the dean of students would let her off easier.

She didn't need to guess why she was being called to the Office of Student Affairs; it was definitely because of the pimple-faced boy. There was no surveillance footage to prove anything. As long as she didn't admit it, she was in the clear.

She was annoyed with that pimple-faced boy! From now on, every time she saw him, she'd make sure to beat him up!

Agnes casually walked into the office she'd been to more times than she could count, dragging Jeremy by the corner of his shirt.

The staff at the Office of Student Affairs were respectfully serving tea to Leopold on the sofa. Agnes, who didn't care at first, broke into a cold sweat when she saw him.

She quickly pushed Jeremy out of the office. In this situation, she couldn't protect herself, let alone drag Jeremy into it.

"Agnes, you're here!" The female director of the Office of Student Affairs, Lola Rivera, smiled at Agnes, who was pushing Jeremy.

Leopold's cold gaze immediately turned to the office door. Jeremy curiously looked back into the office.

Jeremy accidentally caught a glimpse of that cold stare, which scared him so much his legs almost gave out.

Why was Leopold here? This time, without waiting for Agnes to push him, Jeremy quickly ran away.

Agnes was also puzzled. Why was Leopold here? In the past, when she got into trouble, it was always Robert who came over to listen to Lola's nagging and then went back. If she found out who called Leopold, even if it was Lola, she'd beat them up.

Standing outside the door, Agnes felt her heart pounding. A call made her heart jump to her throat.

"Agnes." This time, Lola personally came out to call her, her voice unusually kind! Lola always knew that Agnes had Leopold backing her up, so she never dared to treat her strictly despite her frequent misbehavior.

However, this time, Leopold came in person, which surprised Lola.

Leopold was the famous CEO of a multinational corporation. If it weren't for the fact that several principals and vice-principals were out of town for an inspection, they would have come out to greet Leopold together!

Agnes gave Lola a dry smile, "Ms. Rivera, I don't want to go in." She lowered her voice, afraid that Leopold inside would hear.

Lola was also embarrassed. So, this mischievous Agnes was also afraid of Leopold!

"Agnes!" Leopold's impatient voice came from the office, making Agnes almost jump.

She leaned towards Lola and gritted her teeth, "Who called him here!"

Lola looked at Agnes, speechless. Even though she was only in her thirties, she usually kept a very serious image in front of the students. No one dared to get this close and talk to her like this!

But, considering that Agnes's guardian was Leopold, Lola decided to let it slide.

"I called Robert, but I didn't expect Mr. Neville to come!" Lola, influenced by Agnes, also lowered her voice.

Lola and Agnes walked into the office together.

The three of them stood there, facing each other.

"Why did you fight?" Leopold asked.

Agnes, standing in front of Leopold, first pouted and then looked out the window before speaking.

"He deserved it. He had it coming!" Her tone was super casual.

Was that a reason? Lola looked at Agnes, who seemed totally unaware of her mistake, speechlessly.

Incurable! Leopold's gaze at Agnes flashed with a hint of sharpness. "Reason!" He suppressed his anger, reminding himself that Agnes was still a little girl and there was no need to get angry.

Feeling his intimidating gaze, Agnes shrank her neck but still stubbornly said, "He's a grown man badmouthing me behind my back. He deserved to be hit!"

This time, Agnes even raised her defiant little face, staring directly into Leopold's sharp eyes. But after just two seconds, she obediently looked away.

Because she felt scared.

"Agnes, in such situations, you can tell the teacher and let the teacher handle it!" Lola, seeing Leopold's displeased expression, immediately began to educate Agnes.

Agnes snorted, "I'm not a three-year-old. We're all adults here; there's no need for such childish methods!"

Lola was at a loss for words, so she looked at Leopold again.

"I'll take her home first!" Leopold stood up from the single sofa and walked out of the office, leaving them with a dignified back.

Agnes tightly clutched the corner of her shirt. She didn't want to follow, really didn't want to!

But after Leopold left the office, she still obediently followed. As usual, Leopold and Agnes sat in the back seat of the car. They remained silent as they returned to the villa.

Leopold sat on the living room sofa, took out a cigarette, and slowly lit it.

Was Leopold smoking again? Did he have a big smoking habit? She curiously watched as he exhaled smoke. The swirling smoke obscured his handsome face, making it impossible for her to see his expression.

After he finished one cigarette, the living room remained silent between Leopold and Agnes.

He lit another one, still silently exhaling smoke. Agnes began to feel uneasy.

What did he want to do? If he didn't speak, she would be very scared.

She thought for a moment and then spoke first, "Mr. Neville, I'll go cut some fruit for you!" She put on a flattering smile and looked at Leopold, who continued to exhale smoke.

Several minutes passed without him responding. Agnes secretly pouted and went to the kitchen.

She removed some avocados and cherries and found a bunch of grapes to put on the fruit plate.

After a bit of preparation, she brought it out and gently placed it in front of Leopold.

"Mr. Neville, have some fruit." She suppressed a bit of fear in her heart and handed him a fruit fork in a fawning manner.

The living room was extremely quiet. Leopold extinguished the cigarette in his hand and looked expressionlessly at the fawning Agnes.

He didn't take the fruit fork from her hand. He had no experience with children and didn't know how to handle this disobedient Agnes.

Agnes's hand remained suspended in the air for a long time. She grew impatient and threw the fruit fork into the fruit plate.
