Chapter 185

Agnes always believed that kissing was something to consider after becoming an adult, so she repeatedly rejected Michael's intimate advances. Once, Michael tried to force a kiss on her, but she deftly avoided it with a shoulder throw, leading to a cold war between them for several months.

Eventually, Agnes realized her behavior was a bit excessive and took the initiative to appease Michael, and they barely returned to their previous state.

"Agnes, we're in a new era," Michael said helplessly.

Feeling a bit guilty when bringing up the topic, Agnes changed the subject, "There's no point in talking about this now. We've been broken up for so long, and I have Leopold now. Let's just let it go!"

Mentioning Leopold made Michael's heartache, but he still patiently advised, "If Leopold truly loves you, he would make your relationship public and let the whole world know you are his wife. But he hasn't done that. He doesn't love you. Don't be foolish, okay?"

Agnes replied expressionlessly, "You might have misunderstood. It's me who wants to keep our marriage private and not make it public."

Hearing this, Michael was slightly stunned and remained silent for a long time before saying, "I'm not looking down on you, but someone like Leopold, who is so arrogant , can't truly like you. Don't be blinded by the dream he's woven. See the reality, okay?"

Agnes withdrew her gaze from the window and stared at Michael, "How much do you know about us? What gives you the right to judge our marriage?"

Michael was rendered speechless by her rebuttal. After a moment of silence, he stood up, pulled Agnes from her seat, and hugged her tightly. "Do you know? Since the day I knew you married Leopold, I've been very worried and bought a ticket to Beacon City. Do you think someone as young as Leopold, who can control a big company like ZL International Group, doesn't have terrifying means? His business tactics are extremely ruthless. Even if you don't love me anymore, don't reject my concern for you. I'll wait for you to see through Leopold and come back to me, okay?"

Facing Michael, the man she once deeply loved, Agnes felt a surge of emotions and couldn't refuse for a moment.

"I swear that I won't marry anyone else in this life unless it's you, Agnes! I'll wait for you until you realize that Leopold isn't right for you. You're always welcome to come back to me, and I'll love you like I did before."

"I understand it's too late, but I will never give up. Without you by my side, my life seems lifeless. I've been working so hard for the Wright Group, all for you. I'll work hard to make money and give you a good life."

Agnes was about to refuse but Michael's confession made it hard for her to interrupt. When he finally quieted down, she would still tell him it was impossible.

However, at that moment, a familiar and cold voice interrupted them, "Mr. Wright, you are so affectionate, even coming to Beacon City to confess to my wife." The voice was like a bolt from the blue, shocking Agnes.

She immediately pushed Michael away, but it was too late. Leopold was already standing at the café entrance, clearly having been there for a while.

Agnes hurriedly ran to Leopold's side, "Leopold..." She was about to explain but was stopped by Leopold. He held her hand, stood up from the single chair, and walked towards Michael together.

Michael composed himself and saw Leopold calmly extend his right hand, "Mr. Neville, what a coincidence."

"Indeed, Mr. Wright." The two men shook hands politely, as if nothing had happened.

Michael smiled and invited them, "How about sitting down for a cup of coffee?"

Leopold shook his head, intimately wrapped his arm around Agnes's waist, looked at her indulgently, and then said to Michael, "No need, Agnes wants to have some late-night snacks tonight, so I'll take her. Mr. Wright, enjoy your coffee."

'When do I say I want to have late-night snacks?' Agnes couldn't help but think.

The whole atmosphere made Agnes feel uneasy. Even though she had questions about Leopold's words, she didn't dare to speak casually.

"Mr. Neville, you're too kind. Then I won't disturb you." Michael glanced at Agnes again, "Agnes said you two are very much in love. I hope that's true. But, Mr. Neville, you should spend more time with Agnes. She likes to travel, and it seems she hasn't gone out much since marrying you."

Leopold's hand tightened around Agnes's waist, "Of course, we have planned many trips. We'll go to Azure Haven next, shopping in Havenia in March, and Avistan in April. Whatever she likes, I'll accompany her."

Agnes leaned close to Leopold's ear and whispered, "When did you arrange these trips? Why don't I know?"

Leopold slightly turned his head and whispered back, "Just now."

Agnes was speechless.

Seeing their intimacy, Michael smiled, seemingly relieved, "Then I'm at ease. Mr. Neville, please go ahead."

Leopold held Agnes's hand and left. As they passed the cashier, he paid the bill. Before leaving the café, he helped her adjust her scarf and zipped up her down jacket, his actions as usual. This made Agnes even more uneasy.

They got into a spacious and comfortable business car with all the amenities. Leopold sat down first, then pulled Agnes to his side and instructed the driver to start the car.

Feeling the coldness from him, Agnes wrapped her arms around his neck, "We... we were just chatting."

"Chatting about old feelings?" The anger in his tone made Agnes's heart tighten.

Knowing she was in the wrong for being caught in such a situation by Leopold, she explained softly, "No, I haven't liked him for a long time! Leopold, why are you here?"
