Chapter 39
Sensing her hesitation, he pressed on, "Look, I know I was the biggest problem in our marriage, not you. Just give me some time to make things right. Later, you can decide if you want to stay with me or not. All I ask is that you don't betray our marriage."
She swallowed hard, "But what if during this time I..." She cut herself off, "What if you fall for someone else?"
Leopold looked at her intensely, "I won't let you fall for anyone else." Hearing her say this, he realized that when she claimed she had fallen for someone else to get a divorce, it was all a lie.
The small spark in her heart flickered out.
She still felt something off, but Agnes, already confused, couldn't put her finger on it.
Agnes looked bewildered and inexplicably cute. Her slightly parted red lips, hesitant to speak, made Leopold unable to resist leaning in to kiss her.
She finally realized what was wrong! She pushed Leopold away forcefully, "Why do you keep kissing me!"
He had just kissed her! It was right after the kiss that she started to get confused, successfully seduced by him!
"Is it wrong for me to kiss my wife?" He used their marriage as an excuse.
"Of course it's wrong! Don't forget, after you kissed me, you not only threw me out of the mall but also into the ocean and finally wanted to have someone bury me alive!" She accused angrily, with a hint of grievance.
Agnes was so vindictive.
"From the moment I tried to kick you out of the mall, you should have told me you were my wife!" If he had known that this cute and unique Agnes was his wife, he definitely wouldn't have done that.
So it was her fault?
"But after you found out I was your wife, you started controlling me in every way, treating me like your daughter!" She said. He even locked her in the villa for several days!
Leopold was adamant about this, "You weren't behaving well in school. I had to manage you!"
The romantic atmosphere dissipated, and the two stared at each other, sparks of anger flying, "You're too controlling! Leopold!"
Leopold's lips stiffened, his face turning a bit colder.
His eyes were deep and sharp. He took a step forward, and Agnes immediately stepped back, assuming a defensive posture, "I warn you, if you come any closer, you're dead meat!"
"Really? Try it." Leopold forcefully pinned her against the desk behind her as she exclaimed in surprise.
Their position was very suggestive. Agnes stiffly moved her arm, "Let go of me!"
"Go to class this afternoon! You must attend my class! International Finance at 3:30 PM, you know the location. If I don't see you there..." His large hand gave a warning squeeze at her waist.
Agnes felt both pain and shame, "Let go of me first!"
No one had ever treated her like this before. This old and lecherous Leopold had sexually harassed her two or three times already!
He better behave, or one day, when he's asleep, she'll definitely cut off his manhood!
Her cheeks puffed up high, showing how angry she was, and only then did Leopold let her go.
Dennis personally escorted her back to Tranquil Haven Estates and handed her luggage to Eden before leaving. Before he left, he reminded the sulking Agnes, "Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville said he wants to see you in class at 3:30 PM."
That statement lit a rebellious fire in Agnes. If he wanted to see her, she'd make sure he didn't!
At 3:30 PM, Leopold showed up right on time in the packed thousand-seat multimedia room. As he scanned the crowd during his speech, his face darkened when he didn't spot Agnes.
He had really thought she'd play along this time!
Around 6 PM, Agnes was found in a dessert shop, chatting with Justin.
"Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville sent us to bring you back," the bodyguards said.
Agnes ignored them, still typing away on her phone.
The two bodyguards exchanged glances, and one of them tried to persuade her, "Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville said if you don't come out, we'll have to carry you out!"
"Go ahead and try!" Agnes replied nonchalantly.
Maybe knowing she was a tough cookie, one of the bodyguards pulled something out of his pocket and placed it in front of Agnes. They were official black belt certificates, complete with the seals and signatures of recognized Taekwondo associations.
Agnes stuffed the last bite of dessert into her mouth and sensibly stood up, following the two bodyguards out of the dessert shop.
Where did Leopold find two Taekwondo masters? Making her, who had practiced martial arts for ten years, instantly the weaker party.
The familiar Emperor was parked across the street. As soon as Agnes opened the car door, she saw Leopold in the back seat, resting with his eyes closed as if he didn't notice her opening the door.
She got into the car, with the two bodyguards sitting in the front seats.
The car started and quickly left the city.
The route the car was taking seemed increasingly wrong; this wasn't the way home. Her home was to the east, but they seemed to be heading west, "Where are we going?"
She was met with silence.
She had skipped Leopold's class, so she was so scared. As it got darker outside and the place they were going became more remote, her heart was about to jump out of her chest.
Was Leopold planning to bury her alive in some deserted place again?
After what felt like an eternity, the car finally stopped. The bodyguards got out first, but Agnes stayed put.
Did she just see a tombstone?
The car door next to her was opened, and the bodyguards invited her out.
She took advantage of the car lights to survey her surroundings. Why did Leopold bring her to a cemetery in the middle of the night?
Just as goosebumps covered her body, the two bodyguards returned to the car.
"Hey, what do you mean by this?" Agnes couldn't open the car door and knocked on the window.
The rear window rolled down, revealing Leopold's gloomy face, "This is a national cemetery. Reflect on your behavior in front of the heroes!"
'Reflect here?' She was terrified of the dark! Living alone in a villa was already scary enough, and now she had to stay alone in a cemetery. Fear instantly enveloped her.
"No, I..." Before she could finish, the Emperor sped away from the national cemetery.
Watching the car disappear, Agnes really wanted to curse! This was scarier than being buried alive!
Shivering, she took her phone out of her pocket and, with a weak signal, dialed Justin's number. Unfortunately, Justin's phone was off!
