Chapter 41

Agnes caught a glimpse of the lean figure sprawled on the big bed as lightning flashed outside the window.

The soft carpet tickled her feet as she crept closer. Just as she was about to touch the bed, a strong hand pinned her down.

She awkwardly lay on the mattress, her wrists held tight by Leopold. Struggling to breathe, she gasped, "Leopold, it's me, it's me!"

Leopold's eyes softened when he recognized her. He let go quickly, "What are you doing sneaking around at this hour instead of sleeping?"

If he had a gun, it would've been pointed right at her head.

Agnes lay there, secretly relieved. 'Jeez, Leopold's way too jumpy!'

"I just wanted to see if you were asleep." She rolled over, her eyes locked on Leopold, who was now sitting up.

"Sleep!" he snapped, clearly annoyed.

"Okay, okay! Go to sleep!" she said, but she didn't move an inch.

She should've left by now, but she stayed put.

Leopold chuckled, "You're not leaving. You wanna have sex with me or something?"

Agnes blushed and quickly covered her chest, "No way! I thought you might be scared sleeping alone, so I came to keep you company."

She'd never admit she was the one who was scared.

Leopold found her reaction hilarious. Scared? Did she think everyone was as jumpy as her?

Leopold laughed, "If I'm scared of anything, it's you trying to jump me!"

"You're talking nonsense; I wouldn't do that! I'm tired; I'm going to sleep!" she said, sitting up.

Leopold thought she was finally leaving, but to his surprise, Agnes pulled the blanket over herself and lay back down.

Leopold said, "Get out!" He wasn't used to sharing his bed.

"No, I'm staying with you!" Agnes insisted.

Leopold rubbed his temples, "I'll say it again. I don't sleep with others!"

"Who are you kidding? You're just scared Ms. Garcia will get jealous, right?" Agnes asked.

Ms. Garcia? He realized she meant Ella. "What does she have to do with this?"

"Isn't she your lover? I heard you two are inseparable," Agnes said.

Leopold frowned. "I'm married; how could I have a lover?"

Agnes laughed, sitting up and leaning closer. "Let me see if you blush when you lie. I saw you buying her a ton of stuff at Sunrise International Mall. Now you say you don't have a lover? Are you kidding me?"

"Isn't it normal for a guy to pay when shopping with a woman? Does it have to mean she's his lover?" Leopold was puzzled.

Indeed, Leopold was from the Neville family, and spending money on women was no big deal.

"Forget it; go to sleep! Good night!" She covered herself with the blanket, really tired now.

Half a minute later, Leopold whispered in the dark, settled into the bed, and then pressed her down. Anticipating Agnes's protest, he pressed his lips to hers, gripping her arms. In an instant, she was under his control.

Agnes came to sleep, not to flirt.

Even though they were married, she wanted a divorce and didn't want to get more tangled up with him.

The kiss, like a brand, moved from her lips to her ear, making Agnes shiver. She grabbed his hand, her breath catching. "No, Leopold, I didn't come to have sex with you. I just needed a place to sleep. Don't get the wrong idea."

Leopold paused, "Too late!" He was already aroused, his erection pressing against his pants.

How could he stop now?

Leopold's bold moves scared Agnes, and she quickly whispered for mercy, "Don't do this. I'm sorry. I just get scared sleeping alone. That's why I came."

Leopold looked down at her, confused, "Scared? What are you afraid of?"

Agnes gave a sheepish smile, "With all that thunder and lightning, I usually wouldn't be scared, but you left me alone in the cemetery tonight. Of course, I was freaked out."

Basically, she was scared and didn't want to be alone, and now it was his problem to deal with! Leopold realized once again that looks could be deceiving.

Agnes seemed tough and fierce on the outside, but in private, she was as timid as a mouse.

Finally, he rolled over and lay beside her, trying to calm his breathing.

Free at last, Agnes sighed in relief. She had never felt so embarrassed. When had she ever been this scared in front of her friends?

A few minutes later, when Leopold couldn't resist the urge to make a move on Agnes, he found she had already fallen asleep.

Leopold chuckled bitterly. How did she fall asleep so fast?

He couldn't bring himself to wake her, so he just tucked her in, took a deep breath, and tried to calm himself down, slowly drifting off to sleep.

Lumina City University School of Economics and Management.

Right now, the entrance to the multimedia classroom was buzzing with activity. A bunch of guys looked annoyed as the girls filed into the classroom, leaving them stuck outside.

Finally, one of them couldn't help but ask, "Agnes, we barely made it to Mr. Neville's class. Why won't you let us in?"

Leaning casually against the wall, Agnes replied with a smirk, "There are too many students wanting to hear Leopold's lecture; I'm just keeping things orderly. Can't you guys let the girls have a chance?"

A girl about to enter turned back and scoffed at the boys, "Come on, guys, be a little more gentlemanly."

The boys fell silent.

Justin stepped in at the right moment, throwing an arm around one of the guys' shoulders, "Come on, the weather's great today. How about a round of golf? Lunch is on me!"

Such an offer was hard to refuse, especially from Justin. So, when Leopold walked into the multimedia classroom, he was momentarily taken aback. The air was thick with perfume, and all he saw were girls.

Without showing any emotion, he set his materials down and scanned the room. When his eyes met Agnes's triumphant gaze in the corner, he got it.

She wanted to shake things up; that was her game.

He opened his notes and got straight to it, "Hello, everyone. Let's start the class. Today, we'll be discussing the current state of the fintech industry."

No wonder so many women were into Leopold. He was indeed charmful.

At that moment, Leopold's serious demeanor while teaching captivated all the women in the room. Their hearts raced, drawn by his focus and charm.

Agnes was equally entranced. She didn't catch a single word of what Leopold was saying. Her mind was filled only with thoughts of how handsome he was, how magnetic his voice was, how tall he stood, and how dashing he looked in a suit.

"Now, I'll randomly invite a student to summarize what I've just discussed," Leopold said.

The classroom buzzed with excitement. The girls were eager to raise their hands, hoping to catch Leopold's attention.

"Could the first student of the eighth row please stand up and summarize the key points?" Leopold asked.

As his deep voice echoed, everyone's eyes began searching for the lucky girl chosen by Leopold.

When they saw the face of the first student in the eighth row, murmurs spread through the room.

"Isn't that the girl who was guarding the door earlier?"

"Yeah, she's Agnes from Class 22!"

"So that's Agnes. No wonder she's so famous on campus; she's really pretty!"

In the half-minute after Leopold called her name, Agnes was still lost in the intimate moments of last night, each touch and glance a vivid memory.

Then Bella's firm shove jarred her awake, bringing her crashing back to the present.

"What's going on?" Agnes looked confused. Why was everyone staring at her?

Clara whispered in an exasperated tone, "Agnes, Mr. Neville asked you to answer the question and summarize what he just talked about."

Agnes's heart tightened
