Chapter 81

"I'm down with your terms. And as for what to do in the lounge? Duh, we're gonna get it on! Time to show you what I'm made of!" Leopold kicked open the lounge door.

He laid Agnes on the bed and pinned her down.

Agnes tried to wriggle free but couldn't. She yelled, "Hold up! I'm here to talk business, not to hook up with you!"

"We can multitask," Leopold said, smoothly unzipping her jacket and tossing it aside.

But then, he suddenly stopped.

Leopold leaned in, his eyes serious. "Agnes, I've given you three years to get used to this marriage. Whatever your past was, from now on, you're mine. Got it?"

His words left Agnes no time to process anything else; all she could hear was, "You're mine."

How was she supposed to react?

Her face turned red, and she stammered, "I get it."

Honestly, back in Sparkling Metropolis, she had mentally prepped herself for this moment.

Leopold was her legal husband. Aside from that annoying Lydia, he was pretty much perfect and treated her well. So, yeah, she could do this.

But then Leopold's next words hit her like a bucket of ice water.

"You're not a virgin, so no need to be nervous. You just need to..."

A sharp slap cut him off.

Leopold looked at Agnes, who had gone from shy to furious, and got slapped again.

Agnes was fuming.

So, in Leopold's eyes, she wasn't a virgin anymore.

Well, when he didn't know who she was, he had already pegged her as some loose woman.

Agnes gave a bitter smile, tears welling up.

A surge of strength came over her. She shoved Leopold off, jumped off the bed, and yelled at him, "Leopold, you jerk!"

She grabbed her jacket and ran out of the CEO's office, tears streaming down her face.

As she opened the door, she almost ran into Dennis, who was about to knock.

"Mrs. Neville," Dennis blurted out.

Agnes, all emotional, bit her lip and didn't respond, heading straight for the elevator.

Dennis watched her leave, confused. Were they fighting?

It sure looked like it because the next person to walk out was Leopold, looking seriously pissed.

Leopold shot Dennis a cold look, then sat on the sofa and lit a cigarette.

Dennis, already at the door, couldn't just ignore it. He braced himself and walked in, "Mr. Neville, this document just came in from the branch office."

"I asked you to look into Agnes. Why is there nothing about her past relationships?" Leopold demanded.

Dennis replied, "I didn't dig into Mrs. Neville's romantic history."

Since Leopold hadn't mentioned it, he hadn't looked into Agnes's past love life.

"Put the documents down and start investigating now," Leopold ordered.

"Yes, Mr. Neville," Dennis said.

"Look into her relationship with Michael, specifically!" Leopold added.

"Got it." Dennis was about to leave when he noticed the slap marks on Leopold's face. Yep, definitely slap marks, leaving Dennis stunned.

Agnes must've done that.

"Get out!" Leopold's angry shout sent Dennis scurrying out in a panic.

Back at his desk, Dennis clutched his chest, trying to calm his racing heart. He'd never seen Leopold this mad before.

Not even losing a multi-billion-dollar deal had ticked him off this much, but now he was fuming over Agnes. Sure enough, even the toughest guys had a soft spot for a pretty face.

Dennis started to get why Kevin got demoted to the construction site. Maybe getting on Agnes's good side early on was the smart move. Looked like he needed to cozy up to her too.

Meanwhile, Agnes left the ZL Group Building. She was gonna grab a cab to school but changed her mind halfway, "Take me to Sunrise International Shopping Mall instead."

She pulled out her phone and tagged Bella and Clara on WhatsApp, "I'm at Sunrise International Shopping Mall. You guys coming?"

"Agnes, aren't you coming to class this afternoon?" Jeremy asked, curious.

"I'm skipping. Not in the mood," Agnes replied.

Waiting felt like forever. Agnes was scrolling through Facebook and posted a status: [I want to...]

An account named L commented on her post: [What do you want?]

Agnes hadn't planned to reply, but she was in such a bad mood and needed to vent. So she shot back: [I want Leopold to kneel in front of me.]

Mentioning Leopold on Facebook didn't matter. Except for her close friends, everyone else would just think she was joking or daydreaming.

L: [What did Leopold do to piss you off?]

Agnes, still wary of strangers, stayed silent.

No matter how much she refreshed Facebook, L didn't respond again.

She didn't think much of it, assuming this L guy was busy. But she was curious about the person behind the blank avatar.

She clicked on the chat with L and sent a message: [Who are you?]

The reply was quick but annoying: [I need to keep some mystery, so I can't tell you!]

Feeling it was pointless, Agnes was about to give up when L changed the avatar.

The new avatar looked familiar. Curious, Agnes enlarged it and realized it was a photo of herself.

It was a photo Bella had taken of her back at Silverstar Tower in Carado City.

Returning to the chat, she wrote: [Why are you using my photo as your avatar? Who are you? Do you know me?]

L: [I think the photo is beautiful, so I used it. Also, I want to pursue you. What do you think?]

Agnes's lips curled slightly: [Sorry, I'm married. Don't joke around, or I'll block you.]

L replied: [Then how about being friends?]

Finding it uninteresting, Agnes put her phone away and ignored the online stranger.

When Bella and Clara walked into the coffee shop, they saw Agnes slumped over the table, sipping coffee in boredom. Seeing them, Agnes lazily waved, "Over here."

Bella sat down beside her, "Didn't you promise not to skip class anymore? What's up today?"

Agnes had recently sworn that Leopold was too intimidating and decided not to skip class anymore. But that promise didn't last long.

Clara, always perceptive, immediately noticed something was off with Agnes and asked softly, "Agnes, have you been crying?"

Reminded by Clara, Bella noticed Agnes's red eyes.

Agnes didn't say anything. She called the waiter to order coffee for them, then said, "Leopold is a jerk!"

Bella immediately covered her mouth and lowered her voice, "He's your husband. If you have complaints, save them for home. Don't badmouth him outside, or aren't you afraid his fans will come after you?"
