Chapter 65

Brian had no clue who Agnes was and barely knew Justin. If Agnes wasn't performing here, Justin wouldn't have bothered coming to this out-of-the-way bar. Brian played dumb, "You saw it; I didn't force her to drink. She did it on her own!"

Justin was fuming but kept it in check. He leaned in and whispered to Agnes, "Think about your husband. Last time, you almost got into trouble just drinking beer. Now you're chugging whiskey like it's water. Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Agnes shivered and pouted at Justin, "Why didn't you remind me earlier?" She hiccuped right after.

Just then, two guys stepped up and grabbed Justin. "Can't you see Brian's having a good time? Brian's loaded! Mind your own business!"

Justin got shoved, and his anger hit the roof. He grabbed a beer bottle from a nearby table, smashed it, and pointed the jagged end at the two guys. "He's nothing. If he makes her drink again, I'll take him out!"

Agnes, hearing Justin's outburst, sobered up a bit and quickly gathered her things to leave. But Brian grabbed her arm, "Hey beautiful, after taking so much of my money, you should at least sing me a song before you go!"

"Some other time! I'm already tipsy!" Agnes giggled, trying to leave again.

Brian wasn't having it, "What's the rush? You can sing even if you're drunk!"

In a fit of rage, Justin smashed the bottle on Brian's head. Blood started trickling down his forehead. The crowd screamed and scattered, fearing for their safety.

Brian touched the back of his head, his hand covered in blood, his eyes blazing with anger. He kicked a chair in front of him, "You're looking for trouble! Do you know who I am? I'm Cecil's guy! You must have a death wish!"

"Cecil?" Justin repeated, smirking.

Agnes also found the name familiar but couldn't place it.

"Yeah, Cecil's my boss. If you know what's good for you, get lost! This woman is mine tonight!" Brian thought Justin was scared and got even more cocky.

Instead of getting angrier, Justin patted Brian's shoulder and pointed his thumb at Agnes, "Your boss got into trouble with her last time and ended up with a life sentence. You sure you wanna keep going?"

A lot of folks in the underworld had heard about Cecil's mess at the Wonderhaven Private Club in Lumina City. Word was, Cecil had pissed off Leroy and got beaten half to death, then got slapped with a life sentence.

Brian looked at the slightly dazed Agnes with suspicion. Could she be connected to Leroy? But thinking about the money he had spent on her, he didn't want to let it go and shamelessly demanded, "I can let you go, but you have to return my money!"

Agnes stayed silent.

Brian was really stingy. She clutched her purse tightly, "Why should I return it? I earned this money fair and square, not for nothing! Don't play if you can't take the loss."

Her reaction puzzled Brian, "You said she's Leroy's lover. Would Leroy's lover be short of a few thousand dollars?" Leroy had Leopold behind him; how could someone connected to Leopold be short of money?

"Who said she's Leroy's lover? Stop talking nonsense. Agnes, let's go!" Justin pulled Agnes towards the bar's exit.

So she wasn't Leroy's lover. Brian breathed a sigh of relief but still felt unwilling.

Just then, the sweaty manager rushed over, frowning at Agnes, "What are you doing here? Hurry up, a big shot upstairs wants you to sing!"

"No way!" Agnes shot back. She needed to get out of there; her head was already spinning.

The manager was desperate. He couldn't afford to piss off Leopold upstairs, "Come on, I'll give an extra thousand bucks!"

This big shot must be someone important for the manager to offer five times the usual pay.

Justin wasn't having it, "Even if you offer ten times, we're not staying. She needs to go back now!" If Leopold found out about Agnes's condition, Justin was toast. The only solution was to get her home quickly, clean her up, and pretend she was asleep before Leopold returned.

The manager knew Justin. Although Justin's status wasn't as high as Leopold's, he was still a well-known figure in Lumina City. The manager could only explain politely, "Mr. Smith, to be honest, the big shot upstairs is someone even your brother can't afford to offend. Please, let her go."

Brian, seeing the manager's distress, figured anyone who could make the manager so scared must be a real big shot. He pointed at Justin, curious, "Who's his brother, and who's the big shot upstairs?"

Exasperated, the manager explained to Brian, "His brother is Leroy, and the big shot upstairs is someone I can't disclose."

Hearing that Justin was Leroy's brother, Brian immediately backed down. He didn't want the money anymore, nor did he dare mention his injury, and he quickly fled the scene.

Justin wasn't very clear about Leroy's affairs. To him, there were many people Leroy couldn't afford to offend. "Even if God himself is upstairs today, I'm taking her away. Get out of my way!"

He'd rather offend God than provoke Leopold!

Agnes, feeling the effects of the whiskey, was about to pass out. If she didn't leave soon, she might collapse right there.

The manager was genuinely anxious and signaled to the nearby bodyguards, "Mr. Smith, I'm really sorry, but we can't afford to offend the big shot upstairs. Ms. Tudor must stay!"

Seeing the bodyguards approaching, Justin knew he couldn't match their strength. Agnes, slightly tipsy, panicked when she saw the bodyguards moving in, "I have to see who this big shot upstairs is!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Justin dragged Agnes towards the stairs.

The crowd parted to make way, and Justin smoothly reached the second floor, kicking open the door to the room the manager had indicated, "I want to see who this arrogant person is! Mr. Neville?"

Seeing Leopold in the room, Justin's legs went weak, and he almost kneeled. He glanced at the drunken Agnes behind him and quickly shut the door.

Swallowing hard, he trembled as he told Agnes, "Agnes, run! Leopold is in there!"

Hearing the name "Leopold," Agnes's foggy mind cleared a bit. She widened her eyes at Justin, and they exchanged a glance before holding hands and running downstairs.

As the door opened, Leopold, sitting on the sofa, took in the scene outside. In an instant, he spotted Agnes. She had indeed been drinking, and quite a lot.

Leopold opened the door and instructed the manager, "Stop those two!"

Seeing Leopold's command, the confused manager immediately dispatched several bodyguards to intercept the two figures rushing downstairs.

"Move! Move!" Justin, tightly holding Agnes's wrist, weaved through the crowd.
