Chapter 137
Among this group of college students, only Agnes, Jeremy, Justin, Austin, Grace, and John knew the true owner of that luxury car.
However, except for the first three, the others were puzzled by Leopold's presence here.
Justin saw it as a relief and excitedly grabbed Agnes's sleeve, urgently saying, "Agnes, true feelings are revealed in critical moments, let Leopold take me with him!"
The next day after arriving, he couldn't wait to call home, asking for rescue. He kept his distance from the old bus that made him nauseous, but his family flatly refused and instructed all his friends not to help him, hoping the harsh environment would reform his spoiled habits.
Kevin instructed his two assistants to discuss investment with the village chief, while he walked straight to Agnes. Under the puzzled gazes of the crowd, the two moved aside to speak in low voices.
Kevin said softly, "Mrs. Neville, Mr. Neville sent me to pick you up. Someone has already been sent to pack your things, and you can get in the car directly later."
Agnes's gaze once again swept over the luxury car not far away, "Did he come himself?"
Kevin smiled, "Mrs. Neville will know once you get in the car, won't you?" Knowing that Agnes was not comfortable here, and since Leopold always doted on Agnes, how could he not come in person for such a big matter?
Agnes had no words to respond.
At this moment, a gentle voice interrupted, "Hello, Kevin."
It was Grace.
Agnes was puzzled, what did she want?
Grace ignored her and went straight to Kevin. After some small talk, she learned that she was Jeffrey's daughter. Kevin couldn't help but glance at the silent Agnes, "So you are Mr. Lopez's daughter, what can I do for you?"
Grace casually asked, "Kevin, didn't Mr. Neville come?"
Kevin smiled without answering, instead asking, "Mr. Neville is very busy, does Ms. Lopez have urgent business with him?"
Not wanting Agnes to hear her being laughed at, she glanced at the stunned Agnes, "Do you have something to say?"
Agnes nodded and admitted, "Yes, Kevin is here for me."
Grace was surprised, why would Kevin look for Agnes? Could it be true as the rumors said, that Agnes married Kevin? Then why was Leopold indifferent to her confession at school?
Her thoughts were in a mess, was it Justin, Kevin, Michael, or Ethan entangled with Agnes?
Anyway, Agnes's private life was indeed complicated.
However, if it was really Kevin, it would make sense for Leopold to let her go. Kevin had followed Leopold for many years, perhaps Leopold would show leniency for his sake, even offering help.
She tentatively asked, "Agnes, what is your relationship with him?"
Agnes, focused on matters inside the Emperor, didn't want to waste time here. She casually put her elbow on Kevin's shoulder and said to Grace, "We have a very good relationship, as for how good, you can guess!"
People were already gossiping about her complicated relationships with many men, one more misunderstanding wouldn't matter.
Agnes provocatively smiled, patted Kevin's shoulder, and said, "Grace, I'll leave you to Kevin, I'm going to pack my luggage! Wait for me!" In a good mood, Agnes even blew a kiss to Kevin.
Agnes was happy, and naturally, Kevin was too.
Seeing Agnes's barely concealed smile, he nodded foolishly, "No rush, someone is already helping you pack, you can get in the car whenever you're ready."
"Okay."
As Agnes left, Grace couldn't wait to ask, "Kevin, what is your relationship with her?"
"Your relationship?" Kevin was stunned, then realized she was asking about his relationship with Agnes. "I don't think Ms. Lopez came just to inquire about this, right?"
Facing Grace's questioning, Kevin revealed nothing, making her quite embarrassed. But she wouldn't give up, "I... when are you leaving here? My... my dad is very busy and can't take care of me."
Realizing her loss of composure, Grace tried to regain her calm and asked softly, "Can I hitch a ride with you? I'm really sorry, my dad is just too busy."
Though finding it amusing, Kevin didn't point it out, as he had prior instructions. "We are leaving soon, the company has been very busy lately."
Hearing they were leaving immediately, Grace was overjoyed but tried to restrain herself, asking gently, "Can I hitch a ride? My dad is really too busy."
Noticing her emotional turmoil, Grace tried to stay calm and spoke politely.
Kevin was just an assistant, but he was Leopold's trusted aide, she couldn't afford to offend him, especially now that she needed his help.
Seeing Grace's unease, Kevin found it somewhat amusing. Where was her usual sharpness against Agnes? If not for prior instructions, he would have refused her.
"To be honest, besides investing in Willow Creek, our main task this trip is to pick someone up. If you really want to come along, you might want to ask Agnes. If she agrees, I have no objections."
Grace's smile froze, Kevin's words implied they were here specifically for Agnes. Who would believe they had no relationship?
She unwillingly asked, "Why does it have to be her?"
Kevin smiled without answering, "Ms. Lopez, you came for the charity event, didn't you come because of Agnes, and Mr. Lopez forced you to come?"
"Yes, but what does that have to do with whether I can hitch a ride?" Grace was even more confused.
"Since Ms. Lopez came because of Agnes, whether you can leave early should also be decided by Agnes. If Ms. Lopez doesn't want to discuss it with Agnes, I won't force you, please consider it yourself." With time pressing, Kevin nodded politely and turned to leave.
Grace was furious, Agnes! Agnes! Why were these men so concerned about her? Even whether she could leave the village depended on Agnes's approval!
Despite her anger, Grace hurried to find Agnes. Assuming Agnes was already packing, she headed straight to Agnes's place.
