Chapter 25
Back in the day, whenever Agnes and her crew planned a hangout or some group activity, they always let Jeremy know how many people were coming.
Talking about Clara's birthday, Agnes perked up, "A birthday bash! Clara's hitting the big 2-0, right?" Being Clara's old classmate, Agnes remembered it well.
Clara linked arms with Agnes, her face all close to her shoulder, "Yep, finally turning 20! We gotta celebrate big time!"
Luckily, Agnes had a safe night last night; otherwise, Clara wouldn't be in the mood to party tomorrow.
But she was super curious about how Agnes managed to get away from Leopold's grip, so she needed to find a good moment to ask her.
Not too far away, Bella was fixing her hair in the mirror. Hearing the chatter, she glanced at Clara and snorted, "Clara, can you not be so lovey-dovey with Agnes? It's making my skin crawl."
Clara rolled her eyes at Bella, who was busy with her hair. "Like you haven't clung to Agnes before." She touched her long hair, wishing she could dye it purple like Agnes's. It looked so cool in the sunlight.
Agnes threw her arm around Clara's shoulder, "Alright, gang, what's the next class? Let's hustle!"
"Agnes, are you serious? School's out!" Bella put away her mirror, looking helplessly at Agnes, who had lost track of time, and started packing her books to head to the cafeteria.
Agnes finally checked her watch; it was almost noon. "Let's roll! To the cafeteria!"
The group left the classroom together. Up front was tall, skinny John Sanchez, whose eyes always sparkled with smarts. Right then, he was staring intently at Agnes's back. 'Agnes, can I join you guys for the hangout?'
"John, aren't you coming to eat?" A classmate snapped him out of his thoughts.
John quickly looked away, pretending to organize his books, "Yeah, let's go together!" He smiled, and they left the classroom together.
For Clara's 20th birthday bash, Agnes and Bella hit the mall to grab her a gift and then headed to the karaoke bar.
There were quite a few people there, about a dozen, including some classmates she didn't really know.
Soon enough, everyone, whether they knew each other or not, sat together and started playing games.
"For the first round, whoever loses has to kiss someone of the opposite sex here for one minute!" Bella announced, and the boys went wild!
The girls blushed, most of them hadn't had their first kiss yet. How could they do this?
In the end, the girls reluctantly agreed. In the first round, Clara lost. She screamed that she didn't want to play anymore and bolted for the door.
A few classmates sitting by the door grabbed her and pulled her back, making her pick a boy.
Clara, blushing like crazy, looked around at the circle of boys and finally pointed to a corner.
Everyone followed her finger and burst out laughing; she was pointing at Agnes.
"Oh, my god, Clara, you really think I'm a guy!" Agnes, having had a couple of small glasses of whiskey, was now blushing, looking pretty alluring.
Clara stomped her foot and rushed over, "Agnes, just take my kiss already!"
Agnes shrieked, dodging her.
"No way, it doesn't count!" Jeremy stepped in, pulling Clara and Agnes apart just in time.
Clara shot Jeremy a look, her eyes rolling, "Fine, if it doesn't count, then it's you!" Before anyone could react, she planted a kiss right on Jeremy's lips.
The room erupted in screams and cheers, with some even whistling.
The party atmosphere suddenly reached its peak. Clara obediently kissed him for a full minute before casually letting go of Jeremy.
Both Clara and Jeremy were blushing, wiping their lips, but there was a weird feeling bubbling up inside them.
"Jeremy, how did Clara's lips taste?" Agnes teased, grinning at him.
He glared at Bella, who was laughing so hard she was clutching her stomach, "That was my first kiss!"
Clara, hearing this, was annoyed, "What? It was my first kiss too!"
Agnes looked at the blushing pair and blurted out, "Since it was both your first kisses, why don't you two just get together? No one loses out!"
Everyone started chanting, "Be together! Be together!" Justin whistled, shouting, "Jeremy, confess to Clara!"
Clara, covering her red face, sat back down, "Stop joking around. Tonight's my birthday!"
Bella waved her hand, "That's exactly why we're teasing you! Just go with it!" Didn't they tease Agnes on her birthday too?
Everyone laughed heartily.
Clara was having a blast, pulling Agnes to drink a ton of whiskey, even more than on Agnes's birthday.
So, Agnes got totally hammered, stumbling around and barely able to walk straight.
The wild party ended with almost no one sober, "Who's sober enough to take Agnes home?" Justin asked, shaking his dizzy head.
Then, from the corner, John, with a slightly red face, stood up. His face was red, not from drinking but from shyness.
"I'm good, I didn't drink much. I'll take Agnes home." John put down his cup and walked over to Agnes.
Justin widened his eyes at the usually quiet John and waved his hand, "Just take her to Tranquil Haven Estates." Only Justin, Bella, Clara, and Jeremy knew that address.
Hearing Tranquil Haven Estates, John paused, a complex look flashing in his eyes.
Tranquil Haven Estates was a famous, wealthy area in Lumina City, even more upscale than the Westside mansion district.
What was Agnes's real deal to be living in Tranquil Haven Estates?
John picked up his crush in his arms and walked out of the karaoke bar, hailing a cab and getting in.
Agnes, this silly girl, dared to get drunk and pass out. She was really bold and careless.
John looked at Agnes, who was leaning on his shoulder. Her face was flushed, and she looked absolutely stunning.
He had been in Agnes's high school class for three years but had never spoken to her. However, her cheerful and unpretentious spirit slowly captured his heart.
At the beginning of high school graduation, he thought Agnes would choose a music or sports academy, given her excellent running and singing skills.
And he, with no talent in singing or running, could only cheer for her desperately during every running competition.
