Chapter 21
Agnes took a step back, trying to put some distance between them. Just as she was about to turn around to see who it was, the person darted behind her again.
After a few rounds of this cat-and-mouse game, Agnes had enough. She yelled into the air, "Are you here to fight or just mess with me? If you wanna fight, come at me! Hiding? That's not what a real man does!"
A cold snort echoed from behind her.
That snort sent chills down her spine. Could it be Leopold?
Sure enough, a familiar figure stepped into view.
Leopold's mocking grin twisted something inside Agnes. For a moment, she forgot all about his crazy martial prowess. "Want a punch?" she snapped, her voice tight with defiance. "What's so funny? You gonna laugh your teeth out?"
Leopold just looked at her lazily, hands stuffed in his dress pants pockets. "Looks like you've done something laughable," he said.
Agnes, young and hot-headed, couldn't stand the taunt and threw a punch straight at him.
Leopold dodged easily and kept provoking her, "Being this rough, be careful no one will marry you in the future!"
After several failed attempts to hit him, Agnes was fuming, "None of your business! Even if all the men on Earth went extinct, it wouldn't be your turn to marry me!"
"Me...?" Leopold's eyes suddenly deepened, savoring her words.
"You want me to..." His mischievous smile made Agnes blush.
She realized that Leopold was not only annoying but also a rogue!
She was so mad she wanted to scratch that smug look off his face!
Just as Agnes was about to strike again, Leopold's phone rang in his pocket. Ignoring the call, he swiftly grabbed her incoming fist and pushed her against the wall.
With one hand in his pocket, he silenced the ringing phone. His other hand pinned her wrist to her neck, and his right knee pressed against the wall between her legs, their upper bodies tightly pressed together, leaving Agnes unable to move.
Leopold's hot breath lightly brushed against her face, tickling her. She tried to scratch his face, but as soon as she lifted her hand, he pinned it against the wall.
"We have unfinished business from last time. How about you...?" Leopold murmured with a playful glint in his eye.
Kevin, who had finally tracked him down, nearly choked on his own spit at Leopold's casual words. Important clients at the private club had been waiting impatiently, and Kevin had called Leopold several times with no answer, scaring him into searching everywhere.
Kevin had been looking for Leopold for a long time and finally thought of Agnes. He decided to try his luck here and, indeed, found Leopold.
And Kevin also witnessed Leopold flirting.
It was fate! Leopold seemed destined to be with Agnes.
Agnes blushed. To be honest, with her usually tomboyish demeanor, she had never been teased by a man like this before. Leopold was definitely the first.
Leopold's flirtatious remarks left her at a loss for how to respond, "Let go of me, or I'll scream!"
"Go ahead and scream," Leopold said nonchalantly.
Just as Agnes was about to scream, she spotted Kevin standing not far away and called out like she had seen a savior, "Kevin, Mr. Neville's lost his mind! Help me out here!"
Kevin, scared out of his wits, turned and bolted, "I didn't hear anything!" He had no intention of getting involved in Leopold's affairs, especially not in front of Leopold himself.
Besides, what did Leopold and Agnes's little drama have to do with him? 'Agnes, you're on your own!'
"Hey, Kevin!" Agnes shouted desperately, watching him disappear around the corner of the alley.
There was a restroom nearby, but oddly enough, it was completely empty, leaving her with no one to call for help.
Great, just her luck! Agnes swallowed her frustration and forced a smile at Leopold, "Mr. Neville, you're a big man. Don't hold a grudge against a woman like me, okay?"
Leopold looked her up and down with a sneer, "You? A woman?"
She lacked the gentleness he thought a woman should have. Sure, her figure was decent, but it didn't meet his standards.
Leopold's large hand moved down, and Agnes froze. He was touching her again!
She tried to overpower him with all her strength, but it was useless. Her face turned red as she gritted her teeth, "Leopold, you bastard!"
Leopold smiled faintly, knowing she was really angry, and finally let her go. When he spoke again, his usual coldness had returned, "From now on, avoid me when you see me!"
He was a married man, after all.
When Agnes finally appeared on the street with an angry face, Clara had already sung several songs with her guitar. Only a few people had stopped to listen seriously, while most just glanced as they passed by.
Seeing Agnes return after nearly half an hour, Clara finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After finishing a song, only one person put a dollar in the iron box in front of Clara.
Clara was actually quite good at singing. They had initially bonded over their shared love for music.
Agnes's voice had potential, but without professional guidance, it lacked refined technique and sophistication.
Agnes took a deep breath, pushing thoughts of her annoying husband aside. She picked up the guitar and began to sing, "Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better..."
Wonderhaven Private Club, Lumina City.
Kevin and a waiter opened the door to the private room, and Leopold's tall figure appeared at the entrance.
Inside, Frank Cook, who had been fuming over Leopold's tardiness, instantly shut his mouth and quickly put on a fawning smile, "Mr. Neville, you're finally here!"
Leopold glanced indifferently at Frank's outstretched hand, ignored it, and sat down in an empty seat.
Frank's face turned extremely ugly, but considering Leopold's status, he cautiously approached, "Mr. Neville, let me pour you a drink."
Kevin spoke up appropriately, "Sorry, Mr. Cook, Mr. Neville's stomach hasn't been well lately, so he can't drink."
Frank grew increasingly embarrassed. Today, ZL Group had sought him out for cooperation, but here, Leopold seemed to be taking control, turning the tables.
