Chapter 100 Conflict Arises
Inside the small bar.
After Alexander introduced Emily to Benjamin and the others, they all took their seats.
"Any news?" Benjamin asked Alexander softly.
"Not sure ye., I'm waiting for my friend's big brother to come down and help us find out," Alexander replied, turning around.
"Thank your friend for me," Benjamin said, looking exhausted from the past few days.
Next to him, Emily looked at Benjamin and the others, blinked her big eyes, and said to Alexander, "When my brother comes down, you don't need to say much. Just say we're colleagues and we're looking for Randy because of a news story."
Alexander was taken aback. "Why say that? Is there something inconvenient?"
Emily scratched her head and replied with a smile, "My brother doesn't want me to get too involved in social matters."
"I understand." Alexander nodded immediately.
Andrew glanced at Benjamin and, after a long silence, reminded him, "As long as your brother has any sense, he won't believe Benjamin and the others are your colleagues."
Benjamin got the hint. "You guys talk, we'll wait over there."
"Quick, get Benjamin a few glasses of lemonade, it's a diuretic," Andrew shouted cheekily to Matthew.
Matthew rolled his eyes and followed Benjamin and the others to a nearby booth.
Just as they had figured out their plan, Emily's phone rang. "Hey, bro, are you done? Okay, come down then. I'm at the small bar. Yeah, that's it."
A few minutes later, a handsome young man, dressed in a wool coat and followed by an assistant, walked into the bar.
"Over here, bro." Emily waved and shouted.
"Got friends?" the young man smiled as he walked over while his assistant sat straight on the sofa by the door, scanning the surroundings from time to time.
Emily got off her chair, pulled the young man, and said, "This is my brother, Jesse. Bro, these are two friends from my workplace, Alexander and Andrew."
"Hello." Jesse extended his hand.
"Hello." Alexander stood up and shook hands with him.
Andrew, standing beside, flattered bluntly, "Your family's genes are amazing, you all look like movie stars."
"You're good with words." Emily smiled, pulling her brother to sit next to her. "I need a favor."
"What is it?"
"We're chasing a news story and need to find someone involved, but we can't find him," Emily lied without blinking, "I found out this person works at Glimmeridge, can you help me ask around?"
Jesse smiled and asked nonchalantly, "What kind of news are you chasing that involves someone from Glimmeridge?"
"You're not a journalism major. Even if I told you, you wouldn't understand," Emily responded coyly, "There are outsiders here. Give me some dignity, will you? Help me ask!"
"I've told you a thousand times, you went to Pine City just to..."
"Why is it so hard to ask you for a favor?" Emily interrupted, pouting, "Will you help or not? If not, we'll leave and never contact you again."
Jesse reluctantly took out a peculiar military-green phone, half touchscreen, half keypad, and said, "Fine, I'll ask. What's the person's name?"
"Randy," Emily responded happily.
Jesse scanned his phone book and stood up to make a call, but then saw a group of a dozen people walk into the bar.
In the dim light, Tyler scanned the surroundings with a tilted head and asked, "Point out who the other party is."
In the booth on the right, one of Benjamin's brothers immediately spotted Chris, stood up involuntarily, and said with a pale face, "Why is Chris here?"
Chris took a step forward, stood next to Tyler, and said, "Those two young ones on the left, and that table on the right, they're all the other party."
Tyler habitually sniffed, smiled, and stepped forward, coming to Alexander and asking, "How bold are you to cause trouble in Stardust City?"
Alexander stood up. "Who are you?"
"Let's go somewhere else, and I'll tell you who I am." Tyler waved his hand. "Take them all away."
As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd surged forward, reaching out to grab Alexander and the others.
Andrew never expected them to come, and after being stunned for a moment, he immediately punched and shouted, "What are you doing? I'm an active-duty officer in Pine City."
"An officer, but you dare to shout in Stardust City," Tyler sneered, frowning, "You really haven't been to a big city. Hurry up, take them all away."
Before coming, Benjamin and the others had to pass through the border checkpoint between Pine City and Stardust City, so they couldn't carry guns or weapons, while the other party was clearly prepared, putting them at a disadvantage instantly.
Three or four people surrounded Alexander and Andrew, discreetly showing their guns.
"Don't move, or I’ll kill you."
"Lower your head, I said lower your head!"
Shouts and curses filled the small bar. Benjamin took a step back, and the two brothers beside him grabbed bottles from the table and charged forward without a word.
Tyler, standing by the booth with a tilted head, took out a pack of cigarettes and shouted, "Aren't they fugitives? If they dare to fight back, beat them to death. Killing a few would be doing a public service."
By the door.
Jesse's expression changed from shock to confusion and then to anger. He put his phone back in his pocket, turned around, and walked towards Emily. "You're really playing with fire!"
"What are you doing? This is too much!" Emily pushed the guy holding Alexander. "Let go of my friend."
Jesse pulled Emily's left arm from behind and shouted, "Come home with me."
"They're trying to take my friend," Emily held Alexander with her right hand and shouted back, "He saved my life in Pine City."
"I said come home with me!" Jesse repeated.
"Let go!" the guy holding Alexander shouted at Emily with a fierce look.
Tyler noticed Emily and immediately asked, "Who's this girl?"
"A reporter from Pine City," Chris started to explain, "She was the one Terry wanted to..."
Before Chris could finish, Tyler, not caring whether the other party was male or female, suddenly kicked Emily to the ground. "Still contacting the media to cause trouble. You all are truly impressive!"
Caught off guard, Emily was kicked to the ground.
Jesse was stunned, immediately pulled Emily up, glared, and charged forward. "Don't you want to live anymore, you dare to hit anyone!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jesse's assistant, who had been sitting by the door, sprang up and rushed towards the chaotic crowd.
