Chapter 101 The Most Powerful Person in the Anderson Family
In the halted construction site, Robert and Matt were supporting Carl as they stumbled through the metal fence. Just as they were about to head down the pit, chaotic footsteps sounded from behind.
"Robert, do you have one more sprint left?" Tyler, holding a gun, chased from the side, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he shouted, "If not, I'm catching up with you."
"Enter from this side."
"I see them, by the edge of the pit."
The shouts from the opposing thugs also rang out.
Hearing this, Robert placed Carl beside a large iron cement trough and shouted back, "Matt, take Carl down the pit."
Tyler cunningly hid behind the metal fence, constantly moving and firing into the pit, blocking their only escape route.
By the cement trough, Robert and Matt fought back with their guns, but the opponents only fired suppressive shots without showing themselves for a full assault.
After less than twenty seconds of stalemate, Robert shouted back, "Matt, get me some ammo."
Matt, having been shot in the left arm and right leg, had lost basic mobility. Lying on the ground, he responded desperately, "I... I only have two bullets left. I'm out."
Robert was stunned.
As the gunfire ceased, Tyler crouched by the metal fence and shouted, "Got any bullets left? If not, I'm coming in."
No one responded from the construction site.
Tyler licked his lips, turned, and pointed at a burly young man, saying, "Take two guys in and see if they have any ammo left."
The burly young man hesitated but reluctantly called two companions and bent down to enter the fence.
The three of them charged with their guns while Robert and Matt, exhausted, sat on the ground without reacting.
"Fuck, don't move. Hands up," the burly young man shouted with his gun.
"Run? Try running again!"
"Fuck, I'll kill you."
The other two young men, their eyes red with rage, lifted their gun butts and started beating Robert and Matt. These thugs working for Tyler harbored a lot of pent-up frustration. Everyone fears death, but bosses like Tyler only care about paying them, not their lives. If they chickened out and quit, their current lifestyle would be unsustainable. So, their situation wasn't much better than the sickly brothers on Maple Street.
Robert and Matt were beaten bloody. They curled up in the snow with their heads in their hands, looking extremely miserable.
After waiting a while and hearing no gunfire inside, Tyler waved and shouted to the remaining two, "You two go in, rush in."
The two exchanged glances and stepped into the construction site while Tyler followed behind, shouting, "Search them, take everything, phones, whatever, hurry."
Hearing this, the group stopped beating, and the burly young man shouted, "Hands up."
Hearing they were going to search him, Robert clenched his left fist, suddenly sat up, grabbed the gun hidden by the cement trough with his right hand, and fired blindly.
The gunshot rang out, and a burst of blood erupted from Tyler's left shoulder, causing him to stagger back two steps. He reacted quickly, tilting his body to the right instantly.
The second shot hit the young man in front of Tyler in the chest, causing him to fall backward.
Then, the sound of an empty gun echoed. Robert, eyes red, stood up, clutching a knife in his left hand, and shouted, "Even if I die, I'll make sure you suffer."
"Hold him down."
Tyler touched his arm, jumped up, and shouted.
Two gunshots rang out, hitting Robert in the right leg and causing him to fall backward.
"Move again, and I'll kill you," the burly young man shouted, pointing his gun at Robert's head.
"Damn it." Robert stabbed. "kill me now!"
The burly young man's leg was cut, but he didn't dare kill Robert, so he smashed his gun butt into Robert's head.
While everyone's attention was on Robert, Carl suddenly sprang up, covered in blood, and lunged at Tyler, holding a knife in his right hand.
Tyler, panicked, stepped back several steps, hastily raising his gun.
Carl stabbed, but Tyler sidestepped, and the knife pierced his hip.
"Die together." Carl pushed Tyler with his left hand, ready to stab again.
Tyler fired two close-range shots at Carl, causing blood to spurt from Carl's heart. Carl, eyes wide, staggered back three or four steps, looked down at his chest wound, and mumbled, "Inevitable."
Carl fell backward, convulsing, and turned his head to Robert.
"Carl!" Robert, emotionally shattered, was pinned to the ground, screaming hysterically.
Matt, severely injured, lay by the cement trough, reaching for the knife at his waist with his eyes closed, "Let's… go together."
By the metal fence, Tyler, pale, touched his gunshot wound, staring blankly at Robert, "Everyone, move aside."
Hearing this, the burly young man snatched the knife from Robert's hand, stepped on his chest, and stood still while the others moved aside.
"Shoot me, dare you shoot me?" Tyler, crazed and grim, looked down at Robert and shouted, "Do you know who I am?"
Tyler raised his gun butt and smashed it into Robert's face repeatedly.
"If I weren't after Benjamin, do you think you'd still be alive?"
"Damn you, you lowlifes, maggots living in the slums. Do you think you can fight me and take my business? Do you think you can?"
After smashing a dozen times, Robert's nose was sunken, teeth shattered, and his mouth split open, unrecognizable.
Tyler, panting with his gun, shouted, "Look up, come on, look up."
Robert, dazed, looked up. "I lost… I have nothing to say… but one day, you'll die at our hands."
"What did you say?" Tyler stepped forward, raising his gun butt high, shouting, "Want to kill me, huh? If I die, half of Maple Street will go with me. The VitaPharm Company says one word, and District 9 loses 40% of its medicine. Who dares kill me? Even the mayor of Stardust City wouldn't dare!"
Outside the fence, a figure who had been standing for at least three or four seconds suddenly charged in, gun in hand, shouting, "Damn it, I dare kill you!"
Tyler turned at the sound.
An old face appeared in a flash, the gun aimed directly at Tyler's head from 10 feet away.
"You…" Tyler, stunned, stepped back two steps, instinctively raising his gun.
"I'm Benjamin from Pine City, and I dare kill you."
The shout echoed in the construction site, the trigger pulled, and the gun fired.
After three shots, Tyler staggered back several steps and fell backward.
The elderly Benjamin, hunched over, holding a gun in his right hand, gently lifted his iconic tattered military coat with his left, revealing a row of tubes at his waist, and said expressionlessly, "Young people nowadays are really good at boasting. At my age, I don't care whose son you are? Come on, anyone up for it, I'll play with you."
As soon as he finished speaking, footsteps sounded again outside, and Matthew, Andrew, and others rushed in, shouting with their guns, "Everyone down, don't move."
At the back of the crowd, Alexander hurried in, looked down at the freshly killed Tyler, and was stunned.
