Chapter 126 The Tsundere Sergeant

The long winter made the sunrise much later, and combined with the exhaustion of Andrew, Chris, Matthew, and others from the previous night, they fell asleep in the house after eating.

In the quiet room, snores filled the air. Alexander leaned against the wall, smoking a cigarette, fighting off sleepiness.

Time ticked by, and Alexander kept glancing at his watch, feeling anxious but refraining from making another call.

Outside in the dark, two inn workers had gotten up early, sweeping the snow in the yard and starting a fire for cooking.

After more than twenty minutes, Alexander felt a rumble in his stomach. He grabbed a couple of rough napkins from inside the house and headed out, turning a corner to the outdoor restroom.

As soon as he squatted down, Alexander let out two loud farts and began to excrete waste.

"Is anyone there?"

At that moment, a voice called out from the yard.

"What's up, buddy? Here to eat or stay?" one of the workers responded.

"Stay. Is the owner here? We need to talk about the price."

"The owner is inside. This way."

In the restroom, Alexander listened to the conversation and instinctively wanted to take a look. He pushed the old wooden door open a crack and peered outside.

It was too dark to see the people in the yard, but from his angle, he could see the headlights of cars by the roadside.

The cars were still running, and the sound of engines filled the air, indicating there were several vehicles.

Alexander, puzzled, took another look outside, quickly wiped himself, and fastened his belt before heading out.

The restroom was near the front gate's wall, so Alexander only needed to tiptoe to see the situation by the road.

Four cars, all running, were parked on the right side of the road, with someone making a call under the first car.

When Alexsander saw this, his heart started pounding. He quickly turned around and rushed back to the room, shouting, "Wake up, everyone! Wake up! Hurry, wake up!"

Benjamin, sitting with his arms crossed and eyes closed, was the first to ask, "What's going on?"

"There are four cars parked by the road," Alexander responded immediately, "Something feels off."

The room filled with the sound of people getting up. Matthew, still groggy, asked, "What's the big deal about cars? Isn't it normal for people to stay at the inn?"

"Something's not right," Alexander urged, "People driving those cars wouldn't stay in a place like this, and someone came in asking for the owner right away."

"Let's go!"

Chris jumped up and shouted without hesitation, "Don't care who they are. Let's get out of here first."

Chris's two friends were also highly alert, immediately cocking their guns.

In the yard, footsteps grew closer and closer.

Alexander reacted quickly, rushing to the rickety bunk bed and kicking open the wooden window, letting in a blast of cold air.

"Jump out."

Benjamin waved and shouted.

Chris was the first to run to the bunk bed and jumped out without hesitation.

At the same time, the sound of kicking the door open echoed.

Inside, Chris's friends, Alexander, and Benjamin aimed their guns at the door and pulled the triggers without hesitation.

Rapid gunfire erupted, splintering the wooden door, and chaotic footsteps sounded outside, followed by someone shouting, "Get in here. They're in this room."

"Is there a window in the room?"

"Yes... yes, there is, boss."

"Send people to the back. There's a window in the room."

Chaotic shouts continued, followed by the sound of windows shattering as several gun barrels poked into the room, bringing in the cold air.

Alexander, quick on the draw, shot out the ceiling light and then pulled the old wardrobe to block the door, shouting, "Run!"

On the road.

Four more cars stopped, and Terry rushed out, personally holding a gun and shouting, "Listen up, everyone. If we don't get this done, none of us, including me, will be going back to Pine City."

"Charge in."

Raymond headed straight for the left side of the yard after getting out of the car.

"Damn it!"

Terry cocked his gun and shouted, "Send more people over there."

On the road, Chris ran out and quickly hid behind a wall, peeking at the main road while firing and shouting, "They're coming, hurry up!"

Inside, everyone scrambled out the window like chased rats.

"Let's go, Chris, hurry!"

Chris's friend shouted as he ran out.

Chris hurriedly turned and ran back, "Cover me."

Ahead, Matthew, who had already run ahead, stopped and looked back at Chris, who had bought them time. He didn't abandon him and stood behind the wall opposite the window, raising his gun.

Three seconds later.

Terry and Raymond appeared with a dozen men, guns blazing.

Outside the window, Benjamin turned back to shoot at the people rushing in, but his foot slipped on the icy windowsill, causing him to fall backward.

Alexander reached out to help, pulling Benjamin back.

"Fuck, Chris, I'll kill you first!"

Raymond shouted and charged in.

Alexander shot him twice, but Raymond ducked, only causing sparks to fly from his chest without drawing blood.

Alexander was stunned and tried to dodge.

Gunfire erupted, and Alexander was hit in the back, stumbling forward a few steps.

The Anderson brothers turned back, firing continuously to suppress the alley entrance.

Benjamin got up and carried Alexander, running quickly.

"Go, run, scatter!" Alexander shouted, his eyes red.

Matthew saw them turn left and retreated with his gun, but after a few steps, he heard a noise from inside.

As a former cop, he reacted quickly, turning and aiming at the window.

At the same time, Terry and his men charged up, firing at the alley entrance.

Two gunshots rang out, and Matthew was hit in the leg, falling backward.

"Don't move."

"Move again, and we'll shoot you."

The pursuers inside shouted, guns raised.

Matthew looked at the people rushing up and, after a moment of hesitation, threw his gun to the ground.

Raymond rushed over and struck Matthew on the head with his gun butt. "Drag him out."

In the alley.

Alexander coughed loudly, blood spurting from his mouth and nose.

"Where did it hit?" Benjamin asked.

Alexander panted. "I don't know, I can't feel half of my back."

Benjamin hesitated and said, "We can't get out. let's fight."

"No, there's still a chance. We have to run." Alexander shook his head and shouted, "Matthew, Matthew, help me make a call."

Andrew turned back, scanning the area, and suddenly froze. "Fuck, where's Matthew?"
