Chapter 95 Departure to Stardust City
In the director's office.
Samuel, his arms crossed, looked at Alexander, speaking briefly, "Regarding the fake drugs issue, I have a suggestion for you."
"Go ahead." Alexander nodded.
"Since it's hard to prove innocence, let Benjamin take full responsibility for it," Samuel said cautiously, "Have him find someone to turn themselves in and take the fall, minimizing the chances of the situation worsening. As for the two victims who died tragically, they should be given substantial compensation."
Alexander was stunned for a moment and replied, "Director, if you have Benjamin admit to selling fake drugs, that would be exactly what Terry wants!"
"If you don't do what he wants, what else can you do?" Samuel frowned and asked, "Are you 100% sure you can catch the person who swapped the drugs? And do you know what Terry's next move is? If the situation worsens, do you have a plan to deal with it?"
Alexander remained silent.
"Admitting it now and having someone take the blame will at least make it easier to explain to the police." Samuel stood up and sighed. "When mistakes are made, there are consequences. This should serve as a bloody lesson."
"I don't think Benjamin will agree." Alexander shook his head. "He knows that his survival in the Black Street District depends on his reputation and influence. If he admits to selling fake drugs, it would strip him of everything he's built over the years. Without his survival advantage, what will he do in the future?"
"But if he can't prove his innocence, the responsibility for selling fake drugs will still fall on him, and Terry will continue to frame him. If the situation worsens, not only will the Anderson family's reputation and influence be lost, but we will also suffer." Samuel frowned and looked at Alexander. "If Benjamin agrees, I can give him some time to ease into it; if he doesn't, the cooperation ends, and we'll find someone else to do the job."
Alexander feared Samuel would say this, but he still made it clear.
For Samuel, as long as the team responsible for distributing the drugs could ensure things could run smoothly, it didn't matter whether it was the Anderson family, the Baker family, or the Smith family. He only sought stability without trouble, and the Anderson family's mistake had already made him feel the danger. So, if necessary, it was understandable that Samuel would want to abandon the Anderson family. After all, in the adult world, benefits outweighed emotions, and Samuel didn't have any emotional ties with Benjamin.
After pondering for a while, Alexander looked up at Samuel and said, "Director, I think there's still a solution. Robert has already found out where Todd, the one who swapped the drugs, is."
"Where is he?" Samuel asked.
"Stardust City," Alexander replied truthfully.
Samuel walked a few steps into the room with his hands behind his back and asked softly, "What do you think Terry is planning now?"
"Planning to kill Todd," Alexander replied without thinking.
"Do you understand the situation in Stardust City?" Samuel asked again.
Alexander was stunned.
Samuel turned around and looked at Alexander, saying, "The pharmaceutical company behind Terry is all in Stardust City. The power of these people is beyond your imagination. Robert couldn't keep Todd in Pine City, so what can you do in Stardust City?"
Alexander remained silent again.
"On their turf, how difficult do you think it is to bring Todd back alive?" Samuel frowned and added, "I don't think it's worth the risk. Rationally stopping the loss is the best strategy."
After hesitating for a while, Alexander clenched his fist and responded, "I want to give it a try."
Samuel was stunned. "Are you crazy? Don't you know your own identity? Robert can take a gun and fight for Todd, but can you?"
"Robert will still take the lead; I'm just going to give him some advice." Alexander insisted. "If it works, Terry will be the one suffering next. If it doesn't, you're still the director, and I'll take the responsibility alone."
"What are you aiming for?" Samuel shouted in confusion. "Is Benjamin or Terry the only one in Pine City? If you have the goods, are you afraid you won't find someone to sell them?"
"I have a personal relationship with Robert, and I want to help him." Alexander gave a very weak reason.
Samuel remained silent.
Ten minutes later, Alexander left the office and called his team leader to ask for three days off.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner sat on the couch, looking up at Samuel and asked, "What's Alexander up to? Did he take a lot of money from the Anderson family? Otherwise, why would he get involved in this?"
Samuel shook his head and replied, "It's not about the money; Alexander wants control."
"Control? What do you mean?"
"He's afraid I'll replace the Anderson family and arrange for someone else to handle the distribution," Samuel accurately assessed. "He wants to keep the ground operations under his control, so he's willing to take a risk."
The commissioner was stunned for a long time, his eyes showing some surprise. "If that's the case, then Alexander is not only smart but also quite bold."
"Let him do it," Samuel responded while standing by the window. "To grow, one must go through some trials."
"Alexander is a second-level officer and someone you openly support. If something happens to him in Stardust City, it will be easy for the higher-ups to trouble you," the commissioner reminded.
Samuel shook his head. "If you're afraid of trouble, does that mean trouble won't come? Who could have predicted the fake drug issue a few days ago? Ever since I clashed with Terry over Eric's matter, it was destined that my position as director wouldn't be easy."
The commissioner remained silent.
"Getting Todd back won't solve the big problem," Samuel said, staring out the window. "Let's hope Alexander can create some unexpected changes in Stardust City."
Two hours later, at No. 88 Courtyard.
Alexander handed ten dollars to Luke. "I'll be out on business for the next few days. Don't cause any trouble at home. If there's an emergency, go to the police station and find John. Got it?"
"Got it." Luke nodded. "When will you be back?"
"Not sure." Alexander glanced at his watch. "Don't wander around at night. Lock the door and go to bed early."
"Don't worry about me. I've slept in the wild before," Luke said with a smile, "I'll definitely take good care of the house."
Just as he finished speaking, Alexander's phone rang.
"Hello?"
"How are you getting there?" Benjamin asked.
"Taking the light rail," Alexander replied, then asked softly, "Are you going, too?"
"Robert can be a fool sometimes." Benjamin nodded. "I'm worried and want to go check it out."
After pondering for a while, Alexander said, "Then you can't take the light rail. You're still wanted. Although you can find someone to buy tickets illegally, it's still risky."
"We'll drive," Benjamin said briefly, "You go first. We'll meet in Stardust City."
"Okay."
At around seven in the evening, Alexander and Matthew boarded the light rail train to Stardust City. As soon as they sat down, Andrew, wearing a woolen hat and eating a ham sandwich, walked over.
Alexander was stunned. "Are you going too?"
Andrew rolled his eyes and responded poetically, "To transcend this ordinary life with you, temporary wandering is destined."
Alexander looked at Andrew and smiled knowingly.
In a dirty alley in Stardust City, Robert waited for a long time before a young man approached.
"Need a gun?" the young man asked.
"Yeah, Andy sent me." Robert nodded.
The young man glanced around, then opened the bag slung over his shoulder. "Pick one yourself."
Robert looked down and saw a bag full of black guns and shiny bullets.
