Chapter 66 Twin Stars Shine on River State (Part 1)

On the side of the street, seven or eight henchmen had already aimed their guns at Alexander and Eric. Rob, with a fierce look in his eyes, yelled again, "There are at least a thousand thugs in River State! But ask around, who dares to mess with the Baker family? Just standing here, if we shout, no one will echo back. Do we even deserve the name Baker? I dare you to pull the pin! Do you dare?"

Veins bulged on Alexander's forehead as he clutched the fake grenade pin in his left hand, momentarily frozen in place.

His grenade was fake, and the other side wasn't buying it. What should he do?

"I told you, if we sit down and have a conversation, we might even become friends. But you've made things so awkwar., Do you still have a chance?" Tim leaned on the car, smiling as he beckoned. "Come on, kneel down first, and throw away that lousy gun. We can still..."

Alexander grabbed Tim's hair and slammed his head into the car three times, his right hand instinctively reaching into his pocket, ready to draw his gun.

"Are you afraid to pull it? Then let me ask you. Do you dare to shoot?" Rob turned around and suddenly shouted at his men, "Everyone who depends on me, get over here! We've got plenty of guns and people. Are we afraid of these two having a couple more lives?"

"You talk too much!" Eric suddenly shouted.

Rob pointed at Eric's head. "Ask yourself. If the gun goes off, can you leave?"

"If I don't leave, I'll be buried in River State. So what?" Eric roared face-to-face, suddenly pressing Rob's head with his left hand and pointing his gun down, cursing, "Piss me off? The last person who pissed me off is already dead!"

The roar echoed for a long time, and a gunshot rang out.

Bright gunfire flashed, and a bullet instantly pierced Rob's head.

Everyone present was stunned. Tim, who had felt a momentary advantage, widened his eyes as he saw Rob collapse in a pool of blood.

"Alexander, get in the car!" Eric released Rob's head and suddenly stepped forward.

"Kill them!" Tim lost his mind and shouted.

Chaos erupted with gunfire. Eric stood by the roadside, firing at the nearest two without dodging.

In the close-range shootout, Eric, relying on his good marksmanship and momentum, quickly took down one person. At the same time, two sparks burst from his chest, and blood spurted from his shoulder.

"Then none of us are leaving!" Seeing Eric had already fired, Alexander immediately drew his gun and aimed low.

Gunfire erupted, and Tim screamed, dropping to one knee with blood streaming from his right leg.

"Come on! I'm standing right here. You shoot me, and I'll shoot him! Whoever dodges is a coward!" Alexander's eyes were bloodshot as he pressed Tim's head with his left hand and aimed his gun at his chest with his right. "Who's got the guts? Come on, step forward!"

The five or six henchmen standing not far away looked in panic at Rob's corpse on the ground and the already wounded Tim.

"Don't worry about me. Kill him!" Tim screamed like a madman.

Hearing this, Eric turned around, aimed his gun at Tim's thigh, and shouted with angry eyes, "Leave Pine City. I lost my big brother and home, went through countless hardships to get to River State, failed to accomplish anything, and even dragged my brothers down! You're trying to scare me? I'm so broke now that all I have left is this life. If I don't fight today, it'll be hard to live tomorrow! Don't talk to me about your Baker family in River State. Even if you're the top official, if you dare to strangle me, I'll shoot him!"

As he finished speaking, two more gunshots echoed on the street. Tim's right knee was completely shattered by a bullet, and he rolled on the ground in pain, passing out instantly.

Eric suddenly turned around, pointing his gun downward, coldly looking at everyone. "Who's a fighter? Who's a fighter? Who has it harder than me? Anyone?"

The words echoed on the street, and none of the armed henchmen dared to speak up.

"No one? Then let's go!" Alexander grabbed Tim by the collar. "Let's go, Eric, you drive!"

Ten seconds later, Eric started the car, and Alexander fired three shots into the crowd before the two left in disarray.

On the road, Tim lay unconscious in the back seat, blood gushing from his thigh. Eric drove, staring blankly at the windshield, silent.

Alexander took a couple of deep drags from his vape, immediately took off his jacket, and tore at the lining, saying, "Take off your vest. You're hurt on the shoulder."

"Hurt... am I?" Eric hadn't noticed he'd been shot.

"Don't move while driving. I'll take care of it!" Alexander reached over and unbuttoned Eric's shirt.

The car drove through the quiet, dark streets. The two brothers, one driving and the other tending to the wound, remaining silent.

After a long while, the car left North Lincoln. Alexander handed the vape to Eric and said hoarsely, "You're not like you used to be."

"Life didn't give me a choice." Eric's face was expressionless, his voice hoarse, "Once in Pine City, and once in River State. I realized some things."

"What?" Alexander asked.

"For someone like me, with no money, no background, and a lot of burdens, the only thing I have over others is that my lousy life has a chance to trade for someone else's good life, someone else's wealthy life." Eric turned to blankly Alexander. "In this life, what you get by taking a hundred steps back is nothing compared to what you get by gritting your teeth, with bloodshot eyes, and moving forward like a wolf!"

"But we only have one life. How many times can we fight?" Alexander stared blankly at the windshield and asked.

"For me, Eric died in Pine City. From now on, every day is a bonus." Eric smiled and stepped on the gas.

Approaching 3 a.m.

At the front door of Velvet Sky Club, Alexander opened the car door and said to Eric, "You're hurt, and I'll handle the rest."

Eric pressed his shoulder wound. "Be careful."

"No problem," Alexander said and turned to walk to the front door.

A few minutes later, in the Velvet Sky Club lobby.

"Sir, who are you?"

"I'm here to see your boss." Alexander leaned against the bar with a smile. "I have some business to discuss."

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No, just tell him I'm from District Nine."

"Okay, please wait!" The person nodded.

A little while later, Alexander, led by three people, entered the top-floor office.

In the spacious lounge, a middle-aged man in his forties, wearing a plaid shirt, sat on the sofa watching a streaming show. Without looking up, he asked, "From Pine City? I don't remember having any business with them!"

Alexander walked over casually, sat next to the middle-aged man, and said, "Call that guy Coco and tell her you've found out who captured Alex."

The middle-aged man was stunned. "Who the hell are you?"

Alexander slapped him hard. "I told you to make the call!"

The middle-aged man cursed, and the three young men by the sofa stepped forward to intervene.

Alexander slowly raised his arm, pointing at the middle-aged man. "If you hurt me, Alex will die immediately."
