Chapter 156 Zephyr's Wonderful Night

Zephyr was the son of the district councilor of Riverside District in Pine City.

Here was a brief explanation of the general powers and functions of this district councilor. Since the entire Ninth District was autonomous, its political system was different from the Seventh and Eighth Districts. In the three major cities under the Ninth District, there were no district mayor positions in each administrative region. Simply put, those responsible for public security management were the various police superintendents, such as the Black Street District Superintendent, Riverside District Superintendent, and so on.

As for civil affairs and public welfare, they weremanaged by the district council. Each district council had a chief councilor who was responsible for bringing the district's issues to the city legislature. The new policies were decided by a vote of all councilors.

Among the chief councilors, some were appointed by the government, while others were elected by the residents of the area. Zephyr's father, Adam Wilde, was the elected chief councilor of Riverside District.

This showed that the Wilde family had significant influence in Riverside District, which was why William insisted that Raymond introduce him to Zephyr. He was not content with just engaging in some interest disputes in the Black Street District like Terry; he wanted to set his sights on bigger and better opportunities.

Therefore, William used Raymond's connections to recruit four young men to venture into the pharmaceutical industry. These four individuals were all from wealthy families in Pine City.

Evening.

William did not meet with the other three new friends but met with Zephyr alone.

Inside Neon Club, several hostesses were entertaining the followers with drinks and conversation while William sat on the innermost sofa, smiling at Zephyr, and said, "So, Zephyr, how about joining us in the drug business?"

Zephyr touched his striking red hair and smiled. "Be honest with me, are you trying to recruit us?"

William smiled.

"Why are you laughing? We're not those old men who lie at the drinking table. We're young, so let's keep things relaxed." Zephyr sniffed and bluntly continued, "Tell me the truth, are we cooperating or are you recruiting us?"

William pondered for a moment and asked, "Zephyr, answer me one question first."

"Go ahead."

"In your eyes, what's more important, profit or so-called social reputation?" William asked with a smile.

Zephyr was stunned for a moment and then responded almost without thinking, "In business, profit is of course the most important."

"Exactly, so I won't say whether we're cooperating or recruiting." William replied, "First, see how much profit I can bring you. By then, you'll naturally know what's more important. I don't care how you run your company; I'll just supply you with goods and set sales targets each month. After three months, check your pockets, and then we'll talk."

"Alright." Zephyr considered for a while and then decisively nodded.

"If you don't want to invest too much money upfront, you can pay a small portion first and the rest after selling the goods." William offered a very reasonable condition.

Zephyr was surprised. "Won't your company's people be upset with this arrangement?"

"I'll cover your money personally, so they have nothing to be upset about," William responded generously.

"Just for that, I'll play along with you." Zephyr nodded and agreed.

"Cheers."

"Cheers." The two raised their glasses and drank in one go.

After they discussed business in a few words, the room turned into a scene of debauchery. Zephyr didn't gamble or smoke but loved women and played wildly, inventing many new games for nightclubs.

"Alright, everyone quiet down, let's play a game," Zephyr shouted, and the room fell silent.

"What game?"

"Drawing lots."

The next morning, at the police department.

Alexander had just started work when he heard John and others chatting in the office area.

"No doubt. This case must be Zephyr's doing."

"I also don't think the old man was lying."

"John, have you heard? Zephyr has been getting close to William lately. People are saying their two companies are going to cooperate."

Alexander originally wanted to go inside to change into a new outfit, but upon hearing the discussion, he walked over and asked, "What's related to William?"

John turned around. "You're here."

"Yeah, just got here and heard you guys talking." Alexander nodded.

"It's about the prime suspect in the missing son case, Zephyr. Recently, we've heard he's been getting close to William. We were just talking about it," John explained.

Alexander pondered for a moment and asked, "Can we confirm this case is related to him?"

"I told you, there's something off about this case," John responded with his years of experience, "If the missing person were the daughter of a superintendent or director, Zephyr would have been arrested by now."

Hearing this, Alexander immediately instructed, "I'll go change clothes. Bring the case files over, and we'll look into this Zephyr."

"Did you hear about William wanting to cooperate with him?" John asked with a sly expression.

"You're so smart," Alexander replied, turning to leave.

Meanwhile.

Joe lay on the sofa, holding the phone in his right hand, and asked, "Are you sure he's already sold the goods?"

"Yes, the goods were sold several days ago, but the money hasn't been settled yet." The person on the phone confirmed.
