Chapter 214 Arrest in a Different City

In the small meeting room at the police station:

Andrew listened to the captain and quickly asked, "He's in Longridge? Where'd you get that info?"

Jacob replied, "Louis, show Andrew the info from the Peaceful District police chief in Longridge."

"Sure thing."

A young sergeant handed some documents to Andrew, saying, "Three days ago, the Peaceful District police chief arrested a doctor for illegal medical activities. The doctor said a group of outsiders bought medicine from him, and their description closely matches Jessica."

Andrew frowned as he looked over the documents. "Why just 'closely matches'? The police chief should have the photo of Jessica we sent. Couldn't they just ask the doctor to ID her?"

"The photo we sent was an old ID of Jessica, which looks quite different from her now," the captain explained. "The doctor might be scared of taking responsibility, so he didn't make a definitive statement. We're also trying to get more recent photos of Jessica to send over."

"Got it," Andrew nodded. "If Jessica's in Longridge, Adam's probably there too."

"Exactly," Jacob agreed. "Jessica is Adam's money source. If she's in Longridge, Adam's likely there too."

Andrew put down the documents and looked up. "Are we working with the Peaceful District police chief on this?"

"Yes," Jacob nodded. "They've been informed and will cooperate with you. Just take two teams of officers."

Andrew blinked. "Alright, I'll gather the officers and head out."

"Andrew, all of Pine City is watching the Adam case. If you bring him back, everyone will respect you more," Jacob said, patting Andrew on the shoulder. "I await good news."

"I'll get it done," Andrew said, though he hated having to say something against his will.

"Andrew, you have a bright future," Jacob nodded in satisfaction.

"Alright, I'll prepare."

"Go ahead. If you need anything, just let the folks in Longridge know. The police station will also communicate with them."

"Got it, Deputy Director Campbell."

Ten minutes later:

Andrew walked out with the documents and bumped into Riley, who was walking confidently.

"Andrew!" Riley stopped with a smile.

"Deputy Director Sharp," Andrew greeted him.

Riley, with a kind expression, patted Andrew's arm and nodded. "Among the young mid-level officers here, I have high hopes for you. You're smart and capable; you have a bright future."

Andrew was surprised, not understanding why Riley was talking to him like this since they hardly interacted before.

"I recommended you for the task of capturing Adam in Longridge. It's a great opportunity, so do your best. If you bring him back, you'll definitely be recognized in the year-end evaluations," Riley said with a grin.

Hearing this, Andrew felt a surge of anger. He usually played it cool, but he knew this was a tough job. Capturing Adam in Longridge wasn't easy. It wasn't his turf, and if he failed, the local cops would get the credit, and he'd get the blame.

With such accurate info, if you couldn't catch him, what were you even doing?

So, Andrew looked at Riley and, after a moment of holding back, said bluntly, "So it was you who recommended me, Deputy Director Sharp. I'll have to thank you properly when I get back."

"No need to thank me. I'm good friends with Samuel," Riley smiled.

"Still, in this system, politeness is a must," Andrew said, grinning as he leaned in closer. "Deputy Director Sharp, wait for me to come back. I'll definitely take you to the Summer Club. The girls there are great. And number 68 mentioned you..."

Riley was stunned. He knew Andrew was crude, but not this crude.

"I'll treat you when I get back, Deputy Director Sharp," Andrew said with a smile. "I have to go now."

Riley, dumbfounded, shook his head and cursed at Andrew's back, "This guy has no filter!"

Around 5 PM, before leaving, Andrew went to the hospital.

"They're sending you to Longridge?" Alexander asked.

"Yeah," Andrew nodded. "I'm tasked with capturing Adam."

"That's not a good assignment," Alexander frowned. "Why didn't you refuse?"

"I wanted to refuse," Andrew loosened his collar. "But Jacob personally asked me. If I refused, some people might say I'm using my connection with Samuel to pick and choose tasks at the station."

"What did they say in Longridge?" Alexander asked.

"Jacob said our station has already informed them, and they'll cooperate," Andrew replied. "I just wanted to let you know I might be gone for a few days. Keep an eye on things and call frequently."

Alexander looked at Andrew with concern. "We're not familiar with Longridge. Be extra careful."

"Don't worry, I'm not an idiot," Andrew said, stretching his neck. "We're only taking two teams. I won't engage in direct conflict."

"As long as you know what you're doing."

"Alright, I have to go," Andrew said, glancing at his watch. "I'm heading to the station. We'll stay in touch."

"Stay safe."

"Got it, I'm off." Andrew waved and left the hospital room.

Alexander lay in bed, thinking about the situation and feeling uneasy. After a moment of hesitation, he took out his phone and sent a text message.

Meanwhile.

As Andrew reached downstairs, Samuel called.

"Hello?"

"Handle the case if you can, but if not, find an excuse to come back," Samuel said firmly. "You don't have to be the one to catch Adam. There are plenty of people who want him caught. Understand?"

"If I bring Adam back, won't you be proud?" Andrew asked with a smile.

"Don't talk nonsense!" Samuel shouted. "I'm not joking. Your primary goal is to ensure your safety and that of your team. Got it?"

"Yeah, I got it," Andrew nodded.

About ten minutes later.

In the outskirts of Pine City, Joe glanced at his phone and immediately signaled. "Let's go to Longridge."
