Chapter 113 In the Snow, Warm-hearted Andrew
Beside the vehicle.
Benjamin bent down, scooped up a handful of snow, and rubbed his hands vigorously. He said, "Send Samuel a text and tell him directly that no matter what happens in the future. It will stop with me and won't implicate him. Ask him to save my two kids for the sake of all the hard work we've put in."
Alexander knew that for someone as tough as Benjamin to say such words, he must have been pushed to his limit.
"I'm old now, living a few more days or less doesn't matter," Benjamin added, his head down and voice trembling. "But Robert can't die. Please, Alexander, help me beg Samuel ."
Alexander was silent for a while, then said with a bitter smile. "Benjamin, you overestimate me. How much weight do my words carry now? Besides, Samuel might not be afraid to take a risk, but the people backing him definitely fear trouble. He's not entirely free to act either!"
Hearing this, Benjamin took out a cigarette and, after a long silence, said, "Forget it. Don't send it. If these two kids are doomed, there's nothing I can do."
In the snow.
Andrew was shivering from the cold but still asked sharply, "Samuel, Robert is about to die. Willl you help or not?"
"Why did you mess with Tyler? The VitaPharm Company has five directors, two of whom have voting rights in the District Council. Did you think about the consequences of kidnapping Tyler?" Samuel shouted furiously, "You want me to save Robert? How? Should I get some medicine in Pine City and expect him to survive in Stardust City?"
"Can't you ask your friends? Don't you have many connections in Stardust City?"
"You know those are connections, not your dad," Samuel shouted, eyes wide. "Do you know what will happen to the people helping you if Robert is exposed?"
Andrew was silent.
"I have a small network, but you guys always create big problems. How am I supposed to help? Risk my life?" Samuel yelled, "I can't handle this, and no one else will. If you listen to me, get Alexander back here immediately."
"Samuel, I'll be honest with you, Tyler is dead. I shot him," Andrew said, lowering his head, "It's true, I messed up."
Samuel was stunned for a long time before cursing, "Damn it, are you an animal? Do you want to see me dead to be happy? This is a matter of life and death, don't lie to me."
"If you don't believe me, find a phone, and I'll send you a photo."
"Fuck!" Samuel's eyes turned red, and he jumped half a foothigh, shouting, "Bastard, you can't lie to me about this. You know..."
"I'm telling the truth. He's dead, cold as ice, and the body is stiff," Andrew shouted back.
Hearing this, Samuel slumped into a chair, speechless for a long time.
"Samuel, I can't get out of this now." Andrew squatted down. "But we've discussed it, and there's still a way."
"I'm already screwed, what way do you have?" Samuel said hoarsely after a long silence, "Get lost, let Alexander take the call."
Two minutes later, Alexander stood in the snow and took the call. "Hello, Samuel."
"Is... is he really dead?" Samuel asked, smoking and looking down.
Alexander was stunned, glanced at Andrew sitting silently on the ground, and hesitated before replying, "Yes, he's dead."
Samuel closed his eyes and asked in extreme frustration, "I just don't get it. Why did you kill him? What's the thrill in that?"
"We were forced into it. We didn't want to either," Alexander replied, looking down.
Samuel sighed and asked again, "Andrew didn't kill him, did he?"
"No," Alexander replied without hesitation.
"Was he there?" Samuel wasn't surprised by the answer.
"He was there," Alexander replied truthfully.
"Have you thought about how to resolve this?" Samuel asked anxiously.
"Someone will step up and take responsibility for this," Alexander replied after some thought.
Samuel was taken aback. "Are you sure? What if he doesn't? That would ruin all of us."
"I believe someone will take responsibility," Alexander said after a long hesitation. "If no one does, I'll take the blame."
Samuel took a drag of his cigarette. "Then tell me your plan."
Alexander pondered for a while, then walked to the side and whispered, "Tyler's death hasn't been leaked yet. About three hours ago, I called Terry and asked him to use Chris for an exchange, so he's probably not doing any better than us. The VitaPharm Company lost a son, and the pressure on him is unprecedented. Here's what I plan to do..."
After listening carefully to Alexander, Samuel frowned and asked, "Are you sure? Once Tyler's death is revealed, the VitaPharm Company won't let it go. Just one person stepping up might not be enough."
"Samuel," Alexander interrupted, frowning. "I don't believe you didn't know Terry had the VitaPharm Company backing him when you opposed him."
Samuel was stunned.
"If you chose to break with Terry, it means you understood the power behind him and had some confidence in dealing with it, right?" Alexander added, "Samuel, don't hesitate. The stance is clear. If you have any other ideas, speak up now."
Samuel sighed and cursed, "Damn it, I knew Terry had the VitaPharm Company behind him, but I didn't know you guys would kill Tyler! I swear to Jesus, if I had known you were so stupid, I wouldn't have gotten involved."
"Samuel, I won't make things difficult for you," Alexander said softly, "Find a place for us to stay, and I'll do my best to handle this. If it fails, then Tyler's death is on me, the plan was mine, and the drug deals were arranged by me. I'm the bad cop who deserves to be executed, but you and Andrew will always be the most upright community protectors in District Nine."
Samuel was silent for a long time, then sighed. "Alright, let's do it."
A few minutes later.
Benjamin called Andrew and Alexander aside and said softly, "Kids, don't worry, I won't owe you for this."
Andrew sniffled. "When it's cold, it's better to share a blanket than to cover yourself. This is all I can do, Benjamin. If it doesn't work out, I'll accept whatever happens, but Samuel still needs to be the director."
Benjamin was stunned, then patted his head and said, "You're better than Robert."
On the other side.
Terry returned to the place arranged by The VitaPharm Company and immediately instructed William, "Go and ask Chris to come over."
