Chapter 106 Psychological Game

Inside the snack bar.

Alexander frowned and said into the phone, "Don't rush. Wait until we're all there before making a move."

"You won't make it in time." Robert, sounding agitated, emphasized, "When I caught Randy, one of his acquaintances in Glimmeridge saw us, and I don't know if this acquaintance knows Todd. Plus, Randy's phone rang twice and we didn't answer; both calls were from Todd. So if I don't go over there right now, this guy might get suspicious. If he runs, we won't be able to find him again."

"Robert, if they really know, he'll run anyway, and you still won't catch him. No matter how urgent it is, we can't rush this. You can park your car around Randy's house and keep an eye on him, but don't act rashly," Alexander reiterated, "As I said, you can't just consider Todd in this matter; you also have to think about the pharmaceutical company and Chris knowing we're here. Their local connections are definitely stronger than ours. If they find out about Randy first, you'll be at a disadvantage the moment you show up."

"Alexander, you're not here, so you don't fully understand the situation," Robert argued urgently, "If they were already watching Randy, they would have acted by now and wouldn't have given him a chance to return to Glimmeridge. Think about it, how long has Todd been in Stardust City? Almost twenty-four hours. Whether he knows or not, we have to act quickly. Todd is very cunning; if he senses something is off, he'll run immediately. Otherwise, we would have caught him in Pine City."

"I still think..."

"How about this? I'll give you the address, and you head over here right away." Robert glanced at his watch. "I'll assess the situation here and decide whether to act."

"Alright, I'll contact Benjamin."

"That's it."

With that, they ended the call. Alexander immediately had Andrew pay the bill, left the snack bar, and dialed Benjamin's phone.

"Hello?"

"Benjamin, did you get the stuff?"

"Yeah, we got it."

"Here's the thing. Robert has already caught Randy. He said he would get to Todd soon. But I think yesterday's incident has already alerted Chris and that guy named Tyler that we're in Stardust City. So, we have to be very careful catching Todd. Our connections here can't compare to theirs, you understand?" Alexander frowned and explained, "Think about it. You were spotted as soon as you entered the Stardust City. Would it be hard for them to find someone working in a place like Glimmeridge?"

"Right." Benjamin nodded in agreement.

"Okay, I'll send you the address, and you head straight there. No need to pick up Andrew and me," Alexander reiterated, "We'll go separately. Again, be very careful. If you see Todd, there's no need to act immediately. We mustn't expose ourselves easily."

"Got it."

"Alright, stay in touch."

"Okay."

With that, they ended the call.

About fifteen minutes later.

In the car.

Robert grabbed Randy's hair and asked, "Where's your house?"

"Go straight, then turn left at the alley up ahead," Randy responded truthfully.

"Carl, pull over." After a moment of consideration, Robert instructed, "Park behind the house and turn off the lights."

"Got it." Carl complied.

Robert turned to Randy. "This has nothing to do with you. As long as you're smart, I won't hurt you. I might even give you some money."

"I... I understand." Randy nodded.

"Adjust yourself and call Todd back." Robert decided to follow Alexander's advice and didn't head straight to Randy's house. He softly instructed, "Tell him you ran into a friend on the way and chatted for a bit, had your phone on silent, and didn't hear it. Now you're heading home."

"It's better not to call him back." Randy shook his head.

"What do you mean?" Robert frowned.

"Todd is very cautious. If I call to explain, he'll get suspicious." Randy swallowed nervously and responded, "The person I ran into by the parking spot doesn't know Todd, so I think you should just go straight in. He probably hasn't left because he doesn't have any other acquaintances in Stardust City and nowhere else to go."

Robert fell into deep thought.

"If you insist on making the call, I can do it. But if he senses something's wrong and runs, there's nothing I can do." Randy added.

Robert, feeling frustrated, rubbed his head and turned to Carl. "Do you have any suggestions? Should we go straight in or wait?"

"What's there to wait for?" Carl responded without hesitation, "Todd isn't stupid. Randy's been delayed for so long and didn't answer the call. If he calls someone in Glimmeridge, we might be exposed."

Matt immediately countered, "I think we should wait for Benjamin and go in together."

Robert turned back, and Matt, glancing at Randy, added, "We don't know if he's telling the truth."

"Man, I almost got my genitals cut off. Do you think I'd lie?" Randy argued.

"Fuck!"

Robert cursed, glanced at his watch, and pulled out his phone to call Benjamin.

Just then, Randy's phone rang.

"Whose is it?" Robert asked immediately.

"It's Todd." Randy glanced at the screen and replied softly.

"Answer it and put it on speaker."

"Okay." Randy nodded and brought the phone to his mouth while Matt helped him answer the call.

"Hello?"

There was no response from the other side.

"Hello, Todd,," Randy called again.

After a moment of silence, Todd responded quietly, "Did you run into someone from Pine City?"

"What are you talking about, someone from Pine City?" Randy feigned confusion. "I ran into a friend on the way. He doesn't want to work in Glimmeridge anymore, so we chatted for a bit."

"When are you coming back?" Todd asked.

"I'm in the car now. About ten minutes."

"Alright, we'll talk when you get back." Todd, with a look of utter disappointment, hung up.

Robert sat in the car, pondering for a moment, then suddenly said, "I think he knows."

Just then, a figure hurriedly emerged from the alley, heading towards the main road.

Matt, scanning the surroundings out of habit, spotted the figure and exclaimed, "Todd, it's Todd! He's coming out."
