Chapter 61 Rescue Alex

Alexander, Andrew, and Eric sprinted from the hallway to the window. They peered down and spotted a ledge on the second floor. The man with the ponytail and his crew had already jumped onto it and descended via the stairs.

Alexander remained at the window, watching as the ponytail guy and his gang hustled Alex across the street, heading toward a shadowy alley.

"Alex just hit us up for help—he knows he's in deep trouble," Eric said anxiously. "We have to save him, or everything we've done will be for nothing."

Alexander nodded, understanding the gravity of Eric's words. Turning to Andrew, he commanded, "Get the car. Eric and I will track them."

"Alex just asked us to save him, which means he knows he's in serious danger," Eric said urgently to the other two, "We have to save him, or everything we've done will be for nothing."

Alexander understood Eric's point and knew there was no time to hesitate. He turned to Andrew and said, "You get the car. Eric and I will follow them."

"Be careful, you two," Andrew cautioned.

"Call us when you get the car," Alexander said, climbing onto the windowsill. He shot a determined glance at Eric, "Let's move!"

Without further ado, they leaped from the window in quick succession, while Andrew dashed toward the stairs leading to the second floor.

As Andrew rounded one of the corners on the second floor, hurried footsteps echoed from below. He saw seven or eight heavily armed men in Velvet Sky Club uniforms rushing up.

Reacting swiftly, Andrew pointed down the hallway and yelled, "Over there! Someone just fired a gun and kidnapped a guy, jumped out the window!"

"How many of them?" the leader demanded, scowling.

"Couldn't see clearly, maybe four or five," Andrew replied, stepping aside.

Seeing Andrew alone and unarmed, the group paid him little heed and rushed past him towards the window.

Andrew exhaled sharply, wiping the sweat from his brow, and hurried downstairs, muttering under his breath, "Life just got a whole lot more interesting..."

At the back door of Velvet Sky Club, after skirting down the ledge and nearly crossing the street, Alexander was yanked back by Eric. "They haven’t noticed us yet. No need to rush. Let's follow them first."

Alexander paused, then nodded, "Got it."

Keeping a cautious pace, they crossed the street and slipped into the alley.

The power supply here was unreliable, and most residential areas plunged into darkness after 10 PM. The unmanaged alleys were even worse. With only faint light to guide them, Alexander and Eric trod carefully, staying in the shadows, barely making out the figures ahead. This also meant they were less likely to be detected.

The alley was narrow and seemingly endless. With guns in hand, they covered about 600 feet, rounded a couple of corners, and finally saw an exit.

At the street's end, an aged pickup truck idled. The ponytail guy, pressing a gun to Alex's head, approached the truck. A young man in a black leather jacket emerged from the side and began whispering to him.

Though they couldn't catch the words exchanged, Alexander and Eric sensed that the group was about to leave.

"Should we rush over to rescue Alex now?" Eric whispered fiercely, frowning as he looked at Alex's captors.

Seeing the group clearly by the truck's headlights, Alexander shook his head. "These guys aren't amateurs. Heavy coats, combat boots—they look like they've been roughing it outdoors. We have two small guns, not much against what they might be packing."

Eric pondered briefly, gritting his teeth. "If this goes south, you've got the planned area and Andrew has Samuel. But me? I've survived thanks to you two. This drug deal is my shot at turning things around. I’m ready to die for it."

Alexander was taken aback.

"Even if they pull out a mortar, I'm going to fight them," Eric said with steely resolve, advancing with his gun raised. "I'm starting to shoot."

At the roadside, the ponytailed man extracted a wad of cash from his coat and handed it to the young man in the black leather jacket. "Thanks for this. See you around."

"No problem, Joe. Hit me up if you need anything. Too many eyes on us here, so I'm out," the young man nodded in response.

In the alley, Alexander and Eric moved forward in unison, eyes locked onto Joe, ready to engage at a moment's notice.

50 feet. 30 feet.

As the gap closed, Alexander whispered to Eric, "We can't just charge in. I'll take out the two on the flanks; you grab the leader."

"Got it," Eric replied, bending low and preparing to sprint.

Just then, a phone rang loudly, shattering the tense silence. Joe spun around, eyes narrowing.

Two minutes earlier.

Andrew burst out of the chaotic Velvet Sky Club, sprinted across the street, and slid into the car. He revved the engine and was about to head to the back of the club when hurried footsteps echoed behind him. A glamorous young woman materialized, yanked open the passenger door, and slipped inside.

Andrew turned his head in surprise.

The woman’s entrance brought a cloud of perfume as she shut the door. "Hey there, I'm coming with you tonight."

"Coco?" Andrew recalled the name from the VIP room earlier.

"You remember my name?" Coco smiled coyly.

Andrew cut to the chase, "Get out. I don’t have time tonight."

"What’s the rush?" Coco leaned in, her voice sultry.

"I said get out!" Andrew barked, "I’ve got something pressing."

"Got what you wanted and now you're running?" Coco asked, narrowing her eyes at Andrew.

Andrew frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Tell your friends to bring Alex back to me," Coco's smile vanished.

Andrew was dumbstruck. He reached for his waist instinctively.

Outside, three men in suits crept up and quietly surrounded the car. They didn’t draw weapons; they simply stood by the driver's window, eyes cold and menacing.

"Don't move, or things will get ugly," Coco warned, poking a delicate finger at Andrew’s chest. "Call your friends."

"Who are you?" Andrew demanded, bewildered.

Coco batted her bright eyes, then deftly reached into Andrew's pocket, retrieved his phone, and said, "I'm the boss."

Andrew stared, stunned.

Coco held the phone, her voice clear and commanding, "If you don't want to end up dead in River State, unlock it and call your friends. Now."
