Chapter 203 The Strange Case Progresses
In the car, the young gun dealer broke down Adam's crew for Andrew.
Adam's rise was all thanks to two key players. First, there was Hubert, the money guy with serious skills. Early on, Hubert helped Adam smooth things over with connections and district council members in Riverside District.
Then there was Jessica, a big shot in the Riverside District council. She was well-connected and sharp. Adam noticed she was single and childless, so he worked hard to get close to her.
Adam wasn't exactly young or a looker, but he had experience, a good sense of humor, and he understood women. It didn't take long for Jessica to fall for him. She not only developed feelings for Adam but also got involved in his business.
Once they were together, Jessica introduced Adam to the Smith family. With their backing, Adam became the chief councilor. For a long time, he was loyal to the Smiths and made them a lot of money.
When Adam was fully established in Riverside District, Zephyr and Hubert managed his company, while Jessica handled the goods. She rarely went to the office, mostly running errands for Adam.
After hearing the story, Andrew asked, "You just watch a warehouse, but you know all this?"
The young gun dealer grinned. "I've been with the Wilde family for years. We get curious about what happens above us. Hubert's driver often chats with me, and the more he talks, the more I know."
"I see," Andrew nodded.
"Even though I told you this, digging deeper is tough," the young gun dealer said, taking a drag from his cigarette. "Jessica probably won't betray Adam because she seems to really care for him. Plus, I heard Kyle, the supplier, has a strong background, maybe even military connections. Without direct evidence, going after him could be big trouble."
"Has Kyle ever delivered goods directly to the warehouse?" Andrew asked.
"No way," the young gun dealer shook his head. "Kyle's a big deal in this industry. He wouldn't handle deliveries himself. I've only seen him once, at Zephyr's birthday party."
Andrew frowned.
"Andrew, if you want to take down Kyle, you need to find his supply point and catch him in the act. Otherwise, it's very difficult," the young gun dealer advised.
"Got it," Andrew nodded.
Late at night, around 11 PM, at the police department's hospital.
Andrew looked at Alexander, frustrated. "The follower confessed, but it's mostly useless. The people he mentioned are tough to deal with, and Kyle might have military connections. This case is getting more complicated, involving too many people."
Alexander frowned, taking a drag from his cigarette. "Can we get more evidence against Kyle?"
"No way," Andrew shook his head. "Kyle never shows up personally. His guys handle deliveries, and Jessica finds people to receive the goods. He stays out of the middle steps. To nail Kyle, we need to focus on his entire operation. Basically, we haven't solved one case yet, and now we have to dig into another. We need solid evidence of Kyle's crimes before we can arrest him."
"It's too late for that," Alexander said, equally frustrated.
"Exactly," Andrew agreed. "A well-run gun trafficking gang like Kyle's won't slip up easily. Investigating from the ground up could take a year or more. Plus, with their military connections, we might get ordered to stop halfway through."
"What about Jessica?" Alexander asked again.
"She's even tougher; she's Adam's lover," Andrew said, shaking his head. "Getting her to confess is nearly impossible."
Alexander fell silent.
"If we don't find their supply channels, the evidence we have now isn't enough to touch Adam," Andrew sighed. "Using the Wilde family case to hit William seems unlikely. We're out of leads, and it's too hard to continue."
"You should discuss this with Samuel," Alexander started, but Andrew's phone rang.
"Hold on, it's the police chief," Andrew said, answering the call. "Hello?"
"Andrew, come back quickly. Someone's here with important information about the case and wants to talk to you," John said urgently.
"Looking for me?" Andrew was surprised. "I just got back, and someone already wants to see me?"
"He initially asked for Alexander, but I told him Alexander's in the hospital. Then he said he wanted to talk to the person in charge, which is you," John explained.
"Is it about the Wilde family case?"
"Yes," John confirmed. "Come back quickly."
"Okay, I'm on my way," Andrew said, hanging up. He turned to Alexander. "Someone wants to talk to me about the case. I have to go back."
"Alright, we'll discuss this more tomorrow," Alexander nodded.
"Okay, I'm leaving now."
About an hour later, in the office area of the third team of the police department, Andrew walked in and called out, "Who's looking for me?"
A man in his mid-thirties stood up and replied, "I am."
"What's your name?" Andrew asked, walking over. "What is it?"
"My name is Kyle," the man said expressionlessly.
Andrew was stunned. "Your name is Kyle?"
"Yes." Kyle unzipped his jacket, revealing a row of grenades strapped to his waist.
By the desk, John was momentarily stunned, then immediately stood up and shouted, "What the hell are you doing?"
