Chapter 120 A Single Mistake Can Lead to Serious Consequences

At the crossroads, Raymond sat in the car, shouting into the walkie-talkie, "We can't see where Chris is anymore. All the cars behind. Turn on your high beams. If there's another intersection ahead, we'll split up. Each car takes a different path. We must catch up with him."

"Understood."

"Got it."

Responses came through the walkie-talkie one after another.

Meanwhile, the phone in the car rang.

Raymond was startled for a moment, then pressed the answer button without looking at the screen. "Hello?"

There was a hissing sound from the receiver, but there was no response.

"Hello? Speak up, hello?" Raymond shouted twice, instinctively pulling the phone away. When he saw the name on the screen, he was stunned.

"How much farther? I can already see the sign you mentioned," Chris's voice came through the phone. "About 1,000 feet ahead. Keep running straight, right? No turns?"

Listening to the voice on the phone, Raymond was momentarily stunned but then excitedly slapped his thigh and shouted, "I knew it. Chris wouldn't be so easily persuaded by the other side."

"Bro, is that Chris on the phone?" the driver asked.

"Yes." Raymond nodded excitedly, sitting in the passenger seat and picking up the walkie-talkie again. "Everyone listen up, slow down, turn off the headlights, and follow the road ahead. The other side is around some kind of sign."

As soon as he finished speaking, Terry's voice suddenly came through, "How do you know? Who said that?"

"Chris called me," Raymond immediately responded, "He must be pretending to cooperate with the other side to lure them out. Terry, Chris is really loyal."

Terry was silent for a moment, then nodded heavily and murmured, "Good brother!"

In the wasteland.

Andrew impatiently asked Alexander, "Chris is already here. Why aren't we letting Benjamin's side move? What are you playing at?"

"Don't rush. Wait a bit longer." Alexander waved his hand.

"No, what are you waiting for? He's already shaken off the other side," Andrew asked in confusion.

"I told you to wait, so just wait," Alexander shouted impatiently, covering the phone.

Andrew, holding a gun, stood there silently, trying to be patient.

Two minutes later.

Chris arrived under the sign, panting heavily, and asked on the phone, "I'm here. Where are you guys?"

"Turn left, run 300 feet, and enter the alley," Alexander instructed after a moment of consideration. "Get into Benjamin's car. I'll have someone block the ones behind."

Chris gritted his teeth, didn't respond, turned, and ran into the alley.

In the time it took to buy a pack of cigarettes, Chris reached the spot Alexander mentioned, but he didn't see any car. He only saw an old motorcycle parked by the wall.

Chris was dumbfounded, holding the phone for a long time before shouting, "What are you playing at?"

Alexander was silent for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Chris, do you have any strategy left? If you do, act immediately, or Terry's people will catch up soon."

"Damn it, I threw away my walkie-talkie, but you're messing with me!" Chris shouted furiously, "If I had a strategy, would I have held on until now? Would I still be listening to you?"

"Alright," Alexander responded calmly, "If you say you have no way out, then get on the motorcycle and follow the road ahead. I'll be waiting at the next intersection."

Chris, eyes red, stood there for a moment, gritting his teeth and responding, "You guys aren't even here, are you? You're messing with me!"

"I can't afford to lose!" Alexander responded urgently, "But this time it's real. Ride the motorcycle ahead. I'm at the intersection. They're all in off-road vehicles; they can't catch you on narrow roads."

"Screw you!"

Chris angrily hung up, threw it on the ground, and smashed it with his feet.

In the wasteland.

Alexander lowered his arm, deep in thought.

"Did Chris lose control?" Benjamin's brother immediately stepped forward and asked.

"He hung up on me," Alexander replied, turning to him.

Benjamin's brother, puzzled and frustrated, complained, "We had a chance to connect with him just now. I don't get it. Why didn't you let us move? We wasted half the night. Was it just to mess with Chris? What's the point?"

Alexander looked at him but still didn't respond.

Benjamin's brother, with a grim expression, paused and then shouted to his men, "Grab your guns, and let's go get Chris."

"Don't move," Alexander suddenly shouted, frowning. "How many of them are there? What can a few of you do? Think about how Robert failed!"

Benjamin's brother was stunned.

"Wait," Alexander gritted his teeth and shouted, "We have the initiative with Tyler. Even if we get nothing tonight, I'll just be back to square one. As long as I want to negotiate, Terry has to take my call."

In the alley around the storage warehouse.

After smashing the phone, Chris heard the sound of an engine coming from the direction he came from.

Immediately, another phone rang, and Raymond's voice came through, "Chris, Chris, didn't you connect with the other side? Did you see them? Were you discovered? I heard you arguing with them just now. Stay where you are; we're almost there."

Chris, with a grim look, stared at the phone screen, knowing it was useless to lie at this point. He hung up and turned to run to the right side of the alley.

In the car.

Raymond shouted into the phone a few more times, then cursed in confusion, "What the hell is Chris doing, hanging up again?"

"Should we keep following?" the driver asked.

"Yes, follow him," Raymond commanded, waving his hand. "Let's see him first."

The engine roared as the car turned and chased into the depths of the alley.

After running 600 feet, Chris stood by the wasteland, pulled out another set of wireless mics from his pocket, and said with red eyes, "The other side is too cunning. They don't want to meet Terry at all. You don't need to wait; come pick me up."

Half a minute later, a car reached the edge of the alley. As the headlights illuminated Chris in the wasteland, Raymond jumped out and shouted, "What the hell are you doing? Forcing me to point a gun at you!"

Chris didn't look back and kept running.

"Shoot, and force him to stop," Raymond ordered without hesitation.

As soon as he finished speaking, someone next to the car pulled out a gun and aimed at the ground next to Chris, ready to pull the trigger.

From the left side of the alley, the sound of footsteps approached. Four men in heavy coats, two holding rifles, decisively pulled the trigger.

Intense gunfire erupted, and three of Terry's men were immediately shot down.

In the wasteland.

Hearing the gunfire, Alexander looked up sharply, clenching his fist and shouting, "I knew it, Chris is too smart to risk his life for a fool like Tyler. Did you hear the gunfire? Chris was prepared. If we had gone to pick him up, we'd be fighting the Patrick family now, and Chris would slip away in the chaos."

Everyone stared at Alexander in shock. After a moment, Benjamin's brother asked, "But what if Chris wasn't prepared?"

"As long as the other side doesn't know Tyler is dead, I can lure Chris out a thousand times. But if we make one mistake in those thousand times, it's game over for all of us," Alexander replied, then immediately turned and shouted, "Notify Benjamin, head north with the guns. It's time to get to work."
