Chapter 117 A Transaction with Hidden Motives

It was around eight in the evening.

At the entrance of an apartment building under The VitaPharm Company in Stardust City, Chris sat in an SUV, looking calm and silently smoking a cigarette.

On the roadside, Enrique was quietly conversing with a dozen people but rarely communicated with Chris.

After a short wait, Raymond stepped out of the building, stood by the car, and shouted, "Chris, take a call."

Chris turned around, grabbed Raymond's phone, and answered, "Hello?"

"Chris, I'm going tonight, too," Terry's voice came through. "As soon as Tyler shows up, I'll personally get you back."

Chris was taken aback, then smiled and replied, "I believe you."

"I'll have Raymond keep an eye on you; you'll be fine."

"Alright, I'll do as you say." Chris nodded with a smile. "That's it."

Before Terry could respond, Chris hung up and handed it back to Raymond.

"Don't be afraid. We have over twenty people on our side tonight, all capable, and Terry is going personally," Raymond said as he took back the phone, pulled out a wireless mic from his pocket, and clipped it to Chris's collar. He continued in a low voice, "When you meet them, don't panic. If they want to take you away, insist on seeing Tyler first to buy time. If you can't stall, it's okay to go with them; we'll follow closely. As soon as someone on their side shows up, we'll act immediately."

Chris turned to Raymond and joked, "Raymond, if I die, you'll be better off."

Raymond was stunned.

"Among us, Terry likes you the most. If I die, you'll get at least two more branch offices," Chris teased, relaxed. "If I really die, you better pray for me more, since I helped you out!"

"Chris, don't say that." Raymond frowned as he hid the mic in Chris's collar. "We've been through thick and thin together. We may bicker, but we all wish you well."

"If you wish me well, why didn't you argue with Terry to keep me from going to my death?" Chris asked.

Raymond was speechless.

The two stared at each other in silence for a moment. Chris smiled, patted Raymond's arm, and said, "Alright, I'm just kidding. My life tonight is in your hands; you have to keep an eye out for me."

Feeling a bit guilty, Raymond turned and clapped his hands, shouting, "Come on, everyone, gather around. I have something to say."

Upstairs.

Terry put on his coat and looked down at his phone, saying, "Yes, they haven't given me an exact location yet. We're waiting for the message."

"Terry, things have come to this point. No matter how many backup plans you have, nothing is more important than safely bringing Tyler home," Christopher said firmly and briefly, "My son's life is your company's life. You figure it out."

"I understand." Terry nodded.

"My people will be there soon," Christopher said, then hung up.

Terry sighed as he held the phone, suddenly feeling the weight of his coat. "Everyone, grab your stuff and head downstairs."

On the dirt road outside the training camp.

After Robert and Matt were put into the car, the sergeant turned to Alexander and said, "I cannot be responsible for the departure of the rest of you."

"No problem. We'll handle it ourselves." Alexander nodded. "Once you leave Stardust City, head towards Voidreach. I've marked the exact location on the map. The people responsible for the handover are from River State. They only said they're friends of Coco. Just hand Robert and Matt over to them."

"Got it." the sergeant nodded.

"Take care of them on the way."

"No problem." the sergeant smiled, then got into the driver's seat.

Outside the car, Benjamin, wearing a military coat, looked at Robert calmly. "Don't cause trouble when you get there."

"Uncle Benjamin, when will you be back?" Robert asked.

"The day after tomorrow at the latest." Benjamin patted his forehead and teased, "You finally care about me after all this trouble."

Lying in the car, Robert grabbedis Benjamin's sleeve and shouted to Alexander, "Alexander, Benjamin is getting old. Please take care of him."

When Alexander heard this, a flash of reluctance crossed his eyes, but he smiled and replied, "Benjamin has been around for years; he doesn't need my care."

"Alright, let's go," Benjamin called to the sergeant.

"Uncle Benjamin, I'll wait for you in River State," Matt shouted.

Benjamin looked at the two in the car, smiled, and slammed the door shut.

The car started and drove away along the dirt road.

Inside the car, Robert lay on the seat, looking through the rearview mirror, and suddenly muttered, "Matt, I never noticed before, but Benjamin really is getting old."

"Of course. He is already of such an advanced age."

"No, it's not about age." Robert shook his head. "He's been talking a lot these past two days, more than usual. He never used to be like this."

At the intersection.

Alexander turned to the group, glanced at his watch, and said, "Let's go, too."

Downstairs at the apartment building.

While Terry was waiting in the car, his phone suddenly beeped with a message.

"10:30 PM, north side of South Village, under the exit sign. I want to see Chris."

Terry glanced at the message and immediately rolled down the window, shouting, "Raymond, bring a local guy over."

Soon, Raymond arrived with a young man. "What's up?"

Terry looked at the young man and asked, "Where's the north side of South Village? There's a big exit sign there."

The young man thought for a moment and replied, "That's the most suburban area. Less than 3 miles north of South Village is the exit checkpoint. Beyond that is the undeveloped area."

Hearing this, Terry immediately instructed Raymond, "We'll make the exchange there. Get ready."

"Got it." Raymond nodded.

Inside The VitaPharm Company.

Christopher, leading Dylan and Brandon, hurried outside.

"Dad, are you going too?" Dylan asked.

"Tyler's life is at stake. Of course, I'm going," Christopher frowned and instructed, "Send the people you found over there too. I don't fully trust Terry."

"Okay."

Dylan nodded and pulled out his phone.

About ten minutes later, four cars left a slum area in Stardust City, heading towards South Village.

A preordained exchange was officially underway.
