Logan's POV
"Dammit..." I hit the wall seeing the news of Casper with my girl and the reporter was declaring both of them a couple, they were making stupid conclusions about them and Casper didn't even correct any of their impression, with the way the two were smiling at each other, it makes me want to puke and I want to end Casper's life, "Akira is cheating on me?" I growled and Meredith turned and glared at me.
"Did you even hear yourself talk, you are not the one with the unfaithfulness mark, she is the one with it while are you acting like she is the one cheating on you?"
"Didn't you see the news and the pictures?"
"I saw nothing except a girl you abandoned in a place filled with predators ready to devour her, seeking protection from someone else because you couldn't give her one. Come on alpha, you were freaking mad at alpha Casper when you found out that it was his negligence that made those wolves attack Akira and you blame him for thinking of bringing her to a place filled with wolves. And this was the same thing you did with her. How could you bring her to a party where you know, she knows nobody and you left her to go be with another female." I was silent guilty as charged but I didn't do it on purpose, "...I know I told you that you could make this work but I didn't tell you to hurt her with your action. I saw the pain in her eyes when you pushed her away, she had no idea what the mate bond was all about, rejecting her would have been easy. And I told you, you shouldn't mark her if you know you aren't going to have her beside you for the rest of your life. And then what happened? You brought her home and the next thing, she was carrying your mark, you made her feel the bond and longing for you, only for you to turn around and hurt her? How long are you going to hurt her? I know after you claim Katerina, there will never be a day that you won't touch Katerina."
"Stop lecturing me, you should know better, that I do not have a future and I shouldn't be playing this game." I have become hot-headed these past weeks which makes me easily provoked. I would have smacked Meredith's head against the wall for the longest time but my Wolf Thunder seemed to be in a world of his own since Meredith told me that my actions hurt Akira, he hadn't been himself, and with Akira not In her apartment, he seems broken and lost.
"I don't get you alpha, what game are you talking about? Even if you are going to be with Katerina for just a year. A year is 365 days and wolves, I know, they don’t joke with sex, I could bet in that 365 days you must have had sex a thousand times, how long are you going to hurt Akira, with the unfaithfulness mark?" His voice was low at the last part, it hurt me that someone else was looking out for my mate while all I did was hurt her.
"Don't ask me that..." I turned from him.
"Then what should I ask you?"
"You should go to the bar, I am sure, Vida will be there and you could get information from her. If she refused to tell you anything then bring her here, I would force the information from her."
"What's her business in this? Leave her out of this." He growled at me and my eyes snapped to him.
This was it. I was taken unaware, the outburst wasn't for me, I could sense some possessiveness from him, "Was up with you and that human girl? Is she your mate as well?" He gulped his saliva, clenching his fist beside him and his messed face made me laugh, I wasn't laughing at him, I was laughing at myself, and how funny the goddess thinks all these are, "wow... Is the goddess messing up with you as well?"
"I didn't say so, you should leave her out of this."
"If you don't want to go, fine, I could send someone else to get her."
"Fuck..." He curses before he ruffles his hair. "Fine, I will do it, and if I don't find her there..."
"I know you would find her there, so don't come back lying to me, because I will force the truth out of your mouth with an Alpha command,"
"Asshole?" He murmured and I giggles inwardly, he is right, I am an asshole.
When the door slammed shut, I fell to the couch before scrubbing my palm on my face. I know I am doomed for, everything Meredith said was right, I should be thinking of how to reject Akira now, not this desperation in my heart to find her, I hope she is fine. I opened my mind and connected it with Austin, maybe, I should occupied my mind with something else before guilt and thought consumed me, 'Austin...'
'Yes Alpha, I have been trying to reach you since but your number and mind were shut.'
'Busy...'
'Oh, sorry about that, am on my way there, almost there,'
'How long with it take for you to get here?'
'Ten to twenty minutes.' he said and shut the mind-link, waiting for him to return, at exactly five minutes, the door pulled open even when he said ten to twenty minutes.
"Alpha..." He greeted, "Sorry, I was late."
"It's fine, what did you find out?"
"It's seemed Amelie Hart got pregnant at the age of seventeen and eloped with the male, that got her pregnant, his name is Todd Evans."
"Todd Evans?" He nodded to me, pushing the envelope to me, I pulled out the information. "I thought the name was Ross? Something like that?" I asked in confusion since Akira's surname was Ross not Todd or Evans. He shakes his head.
"No, it's Todd Evans, he happened to be a male she became friends with because of a kind deal, although I couldn't say where they met they were always hanging out at the Park, probably that is their hideout because her Grandpa is strict with her. The record states when she had her pregnancy test but no record during her pregnancy or after she gave birth. Not forgetting that, no one heard about her or knew her whereabouts till she returned seventeen years ago without a baby."
"So? Did she give the baby away? Is that the reason, Akira ended up with that family?" I had so many questions because I was sure, Akira and that female were related, when I came close to her, she was emitting a faint scent of Akira. That is how we wolves find our family members and mates. Our scents are always similar.
"Alpha, are you saying Akira is her daughter?" He asked and my eyes snapped to him. "I don't know yet but I still have another assignment for you, I want DNA on these two samples,"
"Whose hairs are these?" He asked.
"Amelia and that of Akira's, you shouldn't let anyone know about this, it's a secret and I also want to know how he met the male, you called Todd?"
"Maybe, you could get it from him directly." My eyes bulge looking at Austin. "We found out that he is been held by a syndicate that he owes a lot of money and that he is willing to sell his soul to anyone that could redeem him from that syndicate boss."
"Who runs the syndicate? I need to find him and get the information from him."
"But Alpha, why not focus...."
"No, if I am to help Akira look for her mother, I want to know if she is not one of those seventeen-year-old females who trashed their kid because if she was, I would make the Shan family go bankrupt for hurting my baby."
