Chapter 160
Akira's POV
"We need to leave," I heard Vida's voice, and my eyes snapped to her, my gaze moving to the male with a gun pointing at me. My eyes snapped back to Vida. "I don't know, how it happened but I think I froze him," she swallow hard, I guess she is as surprised as we all are.
"How possible is it?" Her worried expression visited my face.
"This isn't the time for any questions, we could do that some other time when we are all out of danger. We need to get out of here." Father's voice came up.
"Go through the back door while I look for a way to distract them." Roe snarled, and we ran through the back door, the first person, I grabbed was Mother, she was the second most important person to me since Vida was already holding my right hand, and the two most important people to me, were at my right and left side. So I was okay, but that doesn't mean I don't care about Roe but I know Roe could save himself.
It didn't take long before time resumed and we could hear the cracking of bullets now and then. I want Roe to be safe, I don't want anything to happen to him and father, I still don't want anything to happen to him, he still hasn't told us the reason he lied to Mother and I know that he didn't just lie to her because he is not in love with her.
We both ran through the back exit, thankful there was one. We didn't hesitate, taking it, leading to wherever it might lead. We stumbled out on a slick alleyway. The smell of piss and garbage invaded my nostrils, something I wasn't expecting for a place as classic as this.
Darting my gaze ahead, I could feel a vast area of forest, I shut my eyes and open almost immediately, it seemed I was dreaming.
Before we could get down the stairs, my eyes snapped to four men standing on the floor. "Fuck..." I curse, ruffling my hair, "what do we do Vida?" My voice was tingled with fear.
"I will fight while you run with her." I shake my head, I know she doesn't stand a chance with this man.
"What if they have guns?" I asked before she could say anything, she froze time, pushing me and Mother.
"You need to leave now." My stomach dropped when each of the men came forward and I could see the gleam of gunmetal in their hands.
I felt like time slowed down, and before I knew it, Wolfie appeared from nowhere with Meredith and Austin beside him, "Run, Akira... Akira run..." He bellowed, his chest heaved. Blood trickled from his nose and a gash across his forehead. His eyes were burning, I guess he had been here all this while, "I thought I told you to always look out for security in every place that you go and I texted earlier that you stay the fuck inside." I gulped my saliva, as I slipped my hand inside my pocket that was when I realized that my phone had been pinging all this while but I ignored it.
It wasn't intentional, I was just occupied with the whole episode of Father and Mother. My eyes widened with the too many messages from him, I couldn't even read the numerous messages before everything went sour and now we are in danger, my eyes went to Austin who was sitting on a bike. "Get on that, and get out of here." I wanted to protest but I wasn't given time to process anything because right in front of me, Wolfie had moved faster than I expected, in a second he was right between the men, Wolfie grabbed the first male hand holding the gun and the gun was facing the sky and shot rang into the air. "What the fuck?" I curse.
"Take her from here." His voice rang in the air, but I was just standing there.
"Akira..." Austin called out at me, pulling my arm with him when I didn't attempt to move.
When time resumed, I was far gone, I couldn't even hear anything going on behind me, I couldn't even see anyone and I didn't even know what was happening there anymore, and the thought of what must be going on there occupied my head, the sound of an off engine was all that brought me to my thoughts to an end, "Vida! We need to go back for Vida, mother..." The words came out in a rush, as my eyes scanned the area, we were in a strange building.
"They are safe." His voice was cold, and I jumped off the bike, ready to run back, even when I had no idea of where I was going, his arm grabbed my wrist.
"Let me go..." I tried to fight him off.
"Stop fighting me, I told you they are fine, and you need to rest." My phone vibrates again, I reach for it, and I almost forget everything about my phone.
"Nadine..." she called her voice clouded with desperation.
"Mother..." I mouthed in relief and she also let out a breath of relief. "Thank goodness that you are alright."
"Me too, I was scared when I couldn't find you when time resumes."
"Time resume?" I asked confused.
"Don't worry about that, where are you?" She asked in a rush without catching her breath.
"I am with Wolfie's friend."
"Who is Wolfie?" Mother's voice came up.
"Sorry, CEO Logan..."
"Oh!" Her voice was laced with uncertainty, I couldn't even tell if she was okay with me being with Wolfie's friend.
"You have nothing to worry about, I will..."
"No, don't leave wherever he brought you, I will send someone to pick you up from there and bring you to the mansion, you can't live at your place anymore, I don't think it safe for you to live there..."
"But I can't leave my sister..."
"You don't have to worry about Vida, she is here with us."
"Vida is with you?" Relief reeks me and I let out a breath I don't think I have been holding.
"Yes, she is with us but she is weak, so you can't talk to her for now."
"Oh, thank you for looking out for Vida and father..."
"It's fine, go on and rest. " Mother interrupted me, I understand she doesn't want to talk about father, her voice was a bit down and I guess she had cried but she was trying to hold up and process everything that happened today.
"You too..." That was all I said before the line died off and I threw my head up, staring at the sky. While I was relieved that everyone was safe that doesn't change the fact that tomorrow might bring another trouble for me, for us, for my little family that I just found and I don't want that. I don't want anything to happen to them.
What if Father was right? What if my appearance in my mother's life will only lead to more trouble? I turned to Austin who was standing there with a poker face.
He didn't say anything except to gesture for me to walk ahead of him, I didn't argue, I walked in front of him till we got to the front door of a condominium unit, he tapped some figures on the door, pushing it for me to enter. "you will spend the night here, everything you might need is inside, you can call me if anything comes up." I nodded before he turned around giving me the room card. "you no longer need the password." And just like that he turned around and left.
I was just too tired and worried to even ask any questions, I pressed the door behind me and took a quick shower, I didn't have an appetite to eat, so I decided to go to bed, just when I pulled the duvet, to covered myself, I heard the doorbell, my brows furrow as I reluctantly get off the bed and reach for the door, I pulled without even asking who it was because I know it’s just Austin that could show up here. "Austin did you forget..." I pulled out the door, my lips dropped seeing his skin covered with blood. "Oh my God...what happened to you?"
